A buddy and I visited on a road trip a couple of years ago. We had a great time here. We arrived fairly early on a Saturday(5:08pm to be exact) so we weren’t troubled by the $ 5 cover that other reviewers have complained about. We had been lured in by the«Home of the Duzy Sandwich» sign, but since we were still full from eating at Dusty’s a couple hours earlier we forgot to ask what these sandwiches were. We started out at the bar, then later moved to the venue half of the space to play some games. The most memorable aspect of the bar for me was the men’s room. As others have stated, it’s worthwhile to pee here if you are male and to try to sneak a peek if you are female. In fact, we enjoyed peeing here so much we made sure to drink enough beer that we’d have to pee again before leaving. :)

I was a little drunk by the time I got to this bar, but there are a few things I remember. Pros: 1. Naked Photo Hunt! A bunch of us drunks gathered around a screen and managed to get the top score. I always play better drunk, I don’t know why. 2. Some green drink tasted like cool-aid. 3. The Urinals!!! They say the toilet is the porcelain throne, that must be true because I felt like a king pissing into these giant structures. Also, don’t be surprised to see the ladies in the mens room sneaking a peak. Cons: $ 5 cover(loose 1 star)

We were travelling through Unilocal recommended bars in North East on Saturday night, and, of course, Satsiu’s was on the list. Upon entering, we were asked for 5 bucks cover, but we explained to the bouncer that we were only there for a drink or two, so he let us slide on by since the band had not even set up yet. Great vibe. Love this type of bar. A perfect hole-in-the-wall that makes you want to live in this part of town. Good cheap drinks. The highlight of my table of men was the urinals. They truly took my breath away!!! Fabulous, art deco glamour. Every guy loved pissing there. I even popped in to see what all the hub bub was about. Truly a decadent urination!!! A true gem in NE. Will be back…

I love this little hole in the wall bar! I’ve been coming here on and off since I was 21, and even though I was into the«booty» shaking clubs at that age, I always had respect for Stasiu’s. No one should feel out of place there. It almost feels like you’re hanging out at a friend’s house, especially in the summer when everyone is hanging out on the back steps, smoking and chatting… ahhh, how I miss those summer nights…

I heart my corner bar. Cheap beer and super friendly.

Does anyone know how to pronounce the name of this place. My intuition says«stay-shews», but I’ve heard at least 3 other pronounciations. Name aside, Stasiu’s is a classic NE dive bar. The drinks are cheap and it gets a good low key crowd. The Men’s room has huge Ivory-esque urinals. Last time I was there, a chick came in and peed in the urinal next to me. She then got mad when I stuck around to watch. I thought this was wierd because there was no line for the women’s bathroom and the toilet in the mens room was open, but I guess that is Stasiu’s for you.

What a good little spot to have a show! Who knew that there was a great dive bar in Northeast with plenty of street parking and a nice little stage? I guess nobody before this summer… I liked how the place was separated by the support columns into bar and venue, it made the show a little more intimate. It was still loud though and you could enjoy the music at the bar while you had your beer. What’s more, I felt like a classy lady because they served my Stella Artois in their signature stemware. I had read about the bathrooms so I made friends with a drunk guy who told me the ‘coast was clear’ and he stood watch while i checked out the urinals. They are these old-fashioned plaster things that look like they were carved out of marble back in the 1800s. Pretty cool boys. I bet that’s good pee conversation. Only bad thing is they dont accept cards after a certain time of night. A friend of mine had to search hard for an atm.

The music scene at Stasiu’s has recently been upgraded as well, as of this summer. There’s local bands playing many nights(almost every night) and 2−4−1 drinks on Tuesday nights. There is a cover sometimes, so come prepared. As the MySpace page( ) says: Stasiu’s is a «great place to drink and rock out, bitches!» This is true. Also recommended for sportz watching. If you are a woman, pretend to be a man one night and check out the men’s bathroom. Dudes — you know what I mean. It’s worth a look.

Stasiu’ s embodies NE mpls in a way that few bars do anymore. It’s a great place to kick back, enjoy some very local bands, have a few drinks, play some darts or pinball and just enjoy the neighborhood. If you’re looking for a northeast hole in the wall, this is your spot.

Old neighborhood bar that, for better or worse, is changing like the rest of Northeast. Crowds vary a lot, maybe more than the Otter Inn. Or maybe not. What do I know? The best urinal in town. Pretty good food too. I guess that’s unrelated, or I at least I hope it is.
