Absolutely love Potter’s! The Pig is my favorite, so crusty and juicy and flavorful, also with texture! Oh btw, I would save the silverware and grab more napkins for this bad boy, because you gotta eat it the American way!(JK! Also proven to be more effective if you don’t want to get too messy.)

The take and bake was good. I’m glad to have that I was able to try a piece of Minnesota’s culture in California.

Let me start by saying I work near Potter’s and have had their pasties many times, they are always delicious and I would recommend you try one as soon as you can get your hands on one. My personal favorite is the traditional, though the chicken is also incredible. I had the Banoffee Pie for the first time today, and I am in LOVE. It was easily one of the best desserts I’ve had in memorable history. The graham crust was almost caramelized on the outside, yet chewy on the inside. The Dulce de Leche filling was a perfect balance of sweet with a tang of saltiness. The bananas were complimentary instead of being overwhelming, and the whipped topping added a creamy balance I didn’t even know it needed. Absolute perfection.

Good pasties, just tried the traditional, and the seasoning was great. Becareful this place is really difficult to find, it’s around the back of the building and down some steps.

Take out only, but ate pasty in the car. Very good Cornish Pasties. Had the traditional and it was seasoned perfectly.

Odd little store that serves up delicious savory pasties and rolls stuffed with delicious combinations of meat, vegetables and seasoning. It’s hard to find because it’s actually around the back of the address and down in the basement. Don’t be put off by this. Down there you’ll find a cook ready to treat your taste buds.

Husband and I had a lunch date, so we decided to try Potter’s Pasties and Pies. I’ve never had a pasty before, so I went into this blind. It was AWE.SOME. Husband had the chicken and i had the traditional beef. The spices were just right with a great little kick. We also had the Banoffee for dessert. WOW! It looked like a cupcake but tasted like a piece of heaven. Best lunch I’ve had in a long time! We will definitely be back! Glad we live close to this place :)

Went here yesterday after realizing that the location was *minutes* away from my house and I had my eye on the food truck for awhile. I tend to eat vegetarian, but will eat meat occasionally. This was one of those occasions. They have a sausage roll, which I have found are difficult to find around here(I’m from Canada), and it is amazing! It’s pretty large, and I intended to share it with my boyfriend but oops ate about 4⁄5 of it walking home. I also got two Thai Veggies pasty which as many have stated is NOT vegetarian. It was okay, I would’ve liked a little bit more filling and they were burnt. Overall, quality food and I will probably return but after reading some of the owner’s responses to reviews on here I was quite disappointed in the overall lack of compassion and customer service provided. Will come again strictly for the sausage roll.

I shudder to think of the seasons that are right around the corner — like Voldemort, those seasons shall not be named! — however one warm thought is that Potter’s Pasties & Pies will be serving up fresh, hot Pasties right out of the oven daily to warm up MN! I have tried nearly everything on the menu and I really have a hard time straying from The Pig and The Sausage Roll … it is that old stand-by with restaurants, once you know what you love, why would you try anything else? However, it is worth your time to stray from what you know from time to time. The people at Potter’s whip up pretty fantastic specials once in a while and I have had more than one that left me scratching my head over what was in it. The chef is supper affable and has made quite a dent in the food truck scene with his winning personality and daring creations. While there isn’t a place to sit in their restaurant(or in their trucks), it allows you to enjoy taking in MN while you enjoy their food. Very wholesome, hearty food made with what I know as love.

I really like Potter’s Pasties. I have tasted almost all of their varieties but my favorite is The Pig. It’s pulled pork like never before. It’s delicious, sweet, coriander, apple goodness melting in your mouth with every bite. Hot and fresh out of the oven! Their most recent Market Special is Curried Pulled Pork with currants, basil, zucchini and this delicious cilantro green sauce on the side. The only downside to this Market Special is the price. It’s $ 12. It’s the same size as their other large pasties and those are $ 9. At most sit-down restaurants, $ 12 could get you a nice sized bacon cheeseburger WITH some french fries or a side of vegetables at least. An important note about their Sausage Rolls: They are SPICY. They contain chili pepper flakes. If you can’t handle spice do not get it. It’s very tasty, but it does not say that it’s a «spicy» sausage roll and people won’t know it until they take a bite. I was going to give my very young toddler a taste of it and I couldn’t due to the unforeseen chili flakes. I enjoy their food truck at the U of M Farmers Market held every Wednesday. I also visit their basement restaurant location on Como, it’s take-out only and no seating. Just wish their prices were a little bit lower. It’s nice for a treat though!

I am not a fan of pot pie! But after my friend introducing me to Potter’s Pasties & Pies, this is the best pot pie I’ve ever eaten!!! YUMMM!!! I would definitely order Chicken Pasty again!

The guy working was super nice and looked hard at work crafting pasties for the day! He helped me pick out a pasty(I chose The Pig — pulled pork, apples, coriander) and I was on my way! Devoured it before I could get a picture. The brown sauce with it was divine as well. Definitely will be back to try the other options!

While out at the Hopkins Raspberry Festival market place yesterday, I grabbed a «The Traditional» to go. They were out of sausage rolls and didn’t bring dessert — just a table with a cooler. I was a little sad they didn’t have the actual truck out. However, when I finally got it home a few hours later and popped it into the toaster oven for about 10 minutes, I was not disappointed. Huge pieces of stewed potato, carrots, meat, and gravy. The crust was really good, too. I dipped it in honey barbecue sauce because I didn’t have any brown sauce. It doesn’t quite make up for my lack of Arizona’s Cornish Pasty Company , but it hit the spot.

I get that they don’t want to run it as a restaurant with places to sit, etc, but thats the only knock I can come up with on the place. The pasties are incredible, the only place in Minnesota that comes close is the Finnish Bistro(just down Como). The crust itself is mind blowing, crisp and dark brown outside, flaky and tender internally. You clearly will never go wrong with the classic, but give strong consideration to the special. Today’s was a pulled pork with sweet potatoes, pepperjeck and a cilantro sauce. Fabulous. Also, sausage rolls. End of sentence. Lots of great Britishy stuff too, if you are into that sort of thing.

After my visit to Edinburgh a few weeks ago, I’ve been craving meat pies, toasties, and pasties. After searching through Unilocal,I decided to try Potter’s. I didn’t have access to the food truck, but I was able to find their storefront. Going in felt like a wonderful shared secret. It’s hidden in the basement, with only a rear entrance. I tried the traditional. It was fantastic! Great amount of meat, potatoes, and vegetable. I would have like just a little more gravy, but it was quite good. The small size was easy enough to eat one-handed and didn’t make a mess. Everything I’d hoped it would be! It was just like the ones I had abroad and brought back some great memories. I also got one to go, so I can feast on this wonderfulness again later! Highly recommended. This is THE perfect lunch food!

I hereby rescind every negative comment I’ve ever made about British food. I tried Potter’s for the first time(of many) today. I picked up a chicken pasty for a coworker and a sausage roll for myself. These were $ 5 each, and more than enough for a lunch. They were delicious. The pastry was substantial, and flaky on the outside while tender on the inside, and very tasty. The fillings were great. My coworker commented that you could tell they used fresh ingredients. The sausage in the sausage roll we perfect — just a little bit of heat. I could have drunk the dipping sauce with a straw. We washed it all down with some of their ginger mint limeade. YUM. I will become a regular.

I read about it yesterday, and was here for lunch today. I got the traditional. This thing is stuffed. I like how there are large pieces of potato, making it easy to pick out. Thank God it’s not loaded with them. It is loaded with a delicious meat mixed with gravy. No problem eating it by hand, if you know what you’re doing. I ate it in the parking lot behind the grocery store. Only thing I wasn’t crazy about, the pastry was a dark brown as opposed to light or golden. But I’m a picky pastry person. Have to use stairs, but they aren’t the steep kind. Service is great. He was telling me all about the take and bake ones. It was true rainy atmosphere for a pastie. I think I may have had some at Renn fest. But these are great, even though I’ll probably just get the traditional. A thai pastie, what the hell is that?

I recently placed a pick-up order through BiteSquad. I’d never had a pasty before, but I dove into the gargantuan meat/potato/carrot filled bread brick with gusto. The dough/crust was about a quarter inch thick, with a large rolled edge that had failed to cook all the way through. The filling consisted mostly of potatoes, the occasional chopped carrot, and quite a lot of meat and seasonings. Like a true Minnesotan, the only sauce I added was ketchup. I ate mine without utensils and ended up with a rather greasy/liquid end to the pasty, it all pooled up in the bottom. That was pretty nasty, and I do not recommend it. Swallow your pride and use a fork and knife! If you do order through BiteSquad — be aware that the«large» $ 8 size is the normal size you get through the food truck and directly from the store. There’s no seating area inside the store; just a few pictures, prints, and bits of merchandise around a tiny window where you’ll receive your oh-so-delicious pasty.

I’d call it a 3.5. Had the Thai veg. It was delicious, at least the wee bit of filling that was in there. The crust was delicious as well, but too much crust and not enough stuffing make bria something something. Also, the plastic silverware warped the moment it heat the heat which make eating a bit difficult. Would I eat here again? Yes.

As someone who isn’t always able to visit food trucks I was happy to see yet another popular truck get a bricks and mortar location. I got into pasties after driving up to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where they’re all over the place thanks to the area’s mining history: Cornish miners brought their native comfort food to help them in the mines. The design reflects that: a classic, savory pasty is filled with English-style meat and potatoes with some vegetable, wrapped in pastry and closed as a savory to-go item that miners could take with them and easily warm up with a candle or whatever heat sources was available. I had several across the U.P., and the only knock would be a common complaint about a lot of traditional English food: it’s pretty bland(meat, potatoes, peas, etc…). Potter’s Pasties remedies that one weakness by going more creative with the ingredients. The«traditional pasty» has the meat, potatoes and veggies you’d expect, but adds some rosemary sauce to it that kicks it up a notch. The real surprise was the daily special I ordered: that day it had braised pork, a sweet barbecue sauce, vegetables and watermelon – it came together in an remarkable manner that had me looking forward to another visit. The dough is also good – and considering how vital it is to the entire meal, that’s a good thing. I got talking to Alec, the co-owner, and he said he became aware of pasties when his co-owner went to England – he’d never had them up in U.P. When he got back he decided to use his experience in white-table-cloth restaurant kitchens to take them to an interesting level here. Let me say: unlike the mediocre to downright horrific local takes on the Québécois classic poutine – this really works. Alec mentioned he gets some borderline-hilarious emails from offended traditionalists who curse him for taking pasties into the 21st century, I suppose there will be those who oppose change, even when it’s for the better. So what’s wrong with this place? I’ll be honest: the location is a missed opportunity. It could’ve been so much more. Right now it’s hidden in a basement behind a building, with just enough space for a half-dozen people to wait for orders. There is no sitting space, but for a small bench outside(which can sit 2-to-3). I think this place would’ve done gangbusters in a place like Midtown Global or somewhere that people can sit down. As of now, the strategy is to-go via fully cooked and par-bake items, or local area delivery. What’s made the other food truck-to-brick restaurants successful(Smack Shack, World Street Kitchen, etc) is they’re places to enjoy the food without having to wait outside or deal with odd hours. This location misses that, instead of following a truck to get to-go food, there’s a fixed location. I think that could’ve done better with a storefront. Overall, I’d recommend the food – and if you’re a fan of the food truck, you now have a permanent location to rely on(or get delivery from).
