FYI… I live nearby and this place has been closed for over a year now. It was average when open so you weren’t missing much.

I feel bad for this restaurant. In many ways I like it. Their food is pretty good — BBQ is yummy, catfish is tasty, and mac ‘n’ cheese is some of the best I’ve ever had. The prices are right, especially with their frequent discount deals. But the restaurant is always empty, the servers are nice but don’t know what they’re doing, the menu items are always changing and the menu itself isn’t updated frequently enough, sometimes with tape and permanent marker on it. I always get the impression the owners are inexperienced and I worry they’re on the verge of closing even though they recently moved to the old Buffalo WW location, which I assume was an upgrade. There are plenty of improvements to be made, but I still enjoying grabbing some dinner there(or to go — in fact, I think they might deliver, too). I recommend ribs and mac ‘n’ cheese — like if your ribs come with 2 sides, make them both mac and cheese.

I have been here three times and I’m done. The first time was this summer and the food was actually really good. It was an early Saturday evening, and there were a few tables. But around 7pm the music changed to hard rap, swear words and all. We were glad we didn’t bring our daughter with us. We went again a couple of months ago and the food was cold and not nearly as good. We decided we wouldn’t be back. Well, two weeks ago my friend talked me into going for lunch. She was craving their bbq chicken and shrimp. We were a group of 4 adults and one child arriving at 11:30 am. Upon arrival we were greeted by a nice server. There was one other customer at the bar, so not busy at all. We placed our order and were told the fryer was broken but they were trying to fix it. The server had been helping the cook/owner? He said it would be about 10 minutes and it would be fixed. We agreed to wait and about 5 minutes later he let us know it had been fixed. Yay, quicker than he had estimated! We placed our order. My friend has been there many times and only eats white meat. She ordered first and ordered the fried shrimp and specifically asked for white chicken. I ordered next and specifically requested dark chicken. About 30 minutes passed. Our server appeared and apologized for the long wait and said he was going to get a sampler appetizer for us since we had been waiting forever, all of which was fried foods so it wasn’t the fryer that was the issue. In the meantime, there were two other small groups seated. After waiting an hour, our food finally arrived. The shrimp was burnt and my friends chicken was dark. She told the server she ordered white. He went back to the cook and returned to tell us it’s always dark, which is not true since she has had this meal many times. Not the server’s fault, the cook/owner or whatever he was is useless. Burnt food that we waited for an hour? Never going back. With so many restaurants to chose from, I’m going to give my money to someone that wants it, not an owner that hides behind his staff.

My wife and I had a Groupon for $ 30 up in the northern part of the cities. It was a Saturday about noon and we were the only couple entering the building, it is a stand alone restaurant, that may get hoppin’ on a Saturday night. Our waitress was super nice and had her kid with her watching movies in the back on a portable movie player. I ordered a big Goose Island Honker’s Ale, which is always delicious. They had a nice tap selection as well, probably about 12 beers. I ordered the brisket plate with a side salad as my side with blue cheese. Nothing special, a little dry, but not bad at all. It could have used more juice on it as well. The side salad was pretty big for $ 2, and the dressing was swell as well. I gave my cornbread to my wife, who thought it was pretty good. I took a bite and it was a little sweet for my taste. She thought Famous Dave’s was a little better. I also got the side of baked beans, which were fantastic. Just the right amount of sweetness, and not fattened up by adding bacon to it. My wife ordered the 2 meat platter and a side salad. The chicken was nice and moist that she ordered. Lots of great flavor. She also got the pulled pork. I thought it was a little dry. I think during the day they warm up food from before, because my wife said she heard the microwave humming in the back by the kitchen. Understandable, but this could have been why the meat was a little dry in most cases except the chicken. I had a second Honker’s and we continued to talk and watch the Gopher football team get killed by the Hawk-eyes. Another cool thing was the amount of TVs lining the walls. Again, kind of eerie being the only patrons on a Saturday during lunch, but I think they do a lot of take out business. Our waitress was super great too. A very average BBQ place, but not bad

We came here last night for dinner around 9pm and there was literally 5 people in the place. My Wife and I, the bartender, the server and the one guy at the bar. This used to be an old buffalo wild wings location and the place is huge… It felt overly awkward we were the only ones in for dinner. The server was very nice and did a good job but the food was meh. The good,. The Cole slaw and fries were good. The meh, fried okra was clearly a sysco product. Very lame. The ribs actually tasted good but they had way way too much bbq sauce on them. The thing that gets me is the ribs are clearly reheated which bums me out. My gut still doesnt feel well after 12 hours of eating them. We definitely wont be back. I did really like the old location.

I was not trying to read any other reviews before i started to review this place because I am very fussy about the«WHOLEBBQEXPERIENCE» and i wanted to share my experience without being influenced. I was there for lunch Tuesday March 13th about 11:45. I brought my best foodie buddy Guy Ball this was both our first experience… @ MR. BBQ! The Service was great the people new the menu and with most BBQ joints they all do it a bit different so the way they walked us thew the menu was wonderful. Lunch menu was targeted and they respected we might need to get back to work or on a schedule and were so respectful of our time. I have ate South Carolina, Memphis, South Texas and Louisiana BBQ so for me it comes down to great flavor, value and style and I think they touched it all. I had Brisket Sandwich and Guy had New York style San. I gave him a dirty look we came for BBQ Dude… The Brisket was the BESTMOIST brisket I have had in TC… The bun was fresh and kind of custom with light flavor. The New York san was like nothing i have had but, NOTBBQ… lol The Fries were large portion… and fresh! The one star missing was, I like lots of different sauces and they had one house sauce on the table… I would like to have JoJo potatoes option. Nice place, clean, easy access place.

comparing this rib place to phil’s bbq in san diego may not be fair but it definitely doesn’t compare. we ordered a full rack with cajun rice and mac & cheese with the complimentary corn muffin and a side of the hot link. St Louis Style Ribs: the ribs didn’t have the flavor of what a good rib would usually have; it didn’t have that punch of guilty satisfaction. the sauce wasn’t bad but there is room for improvement Cajun Rice: was dry — is that how it’s supposed to taste? never had cajun style rice before and maybe it is supposed to be dry. it was not good Mac & Cheese: was bland. we had to add salt and pepper to it to give it some flavor. and even then, that didn’t make it taste much better but it was ok to eat Corn Muffin: was ok. it wasn’t dry so that’s always a plus. we won’t be going back — hopefully we can find a good rib place in mn or we’ll just stick to the steaks.

I find myself stopping in because it’s good bang for the buck(5 for rib tips & fries), they are open late, and it’s better rib tips than Famous D’s.

It is not the best BBQ in the Twin Cities, but is the best BBQ near my house. Their brisket isn’t as good as ted cooks, but much better than Famous Daves, or Flame, or other’s I’ve tried. Their sides are good, their corn bread is great. And service? Very friendly all around. I wish they had a hotter BBQ sauce, that’s about it. But all and all a good place to get some BBQ.

The service at this place blows everything I’ve experienced out of the water. You may be used to the«I hate my life, I hate my job, I hate you» experience when ordering food from a counter and taking a number, not here. Lots of attention, lots of care. Oh and the food is great. The cornbread is amazing(I normally don’t dig cornbread) the chicken is phenomenal, juicy, tender and smokey. All the meats I’ve tried have been perfect– I went for the sampler– yeah, its huge. They deliver, they are open late and a great value. I’m in love.

We’ve eaten here several times and have always had very good food. They used to have a pulled chicken sandwhich — which was awesome, but it’s come off the menu now. Apparently it wasn’t a big seller. My husband always gets the brisket — which is very tender. I get the pulled pork and love it. Sides are very good too — I recommend the creamy cucumbers, beans and the macaroni and cheese. Nice outdoor seating for summer, too!

After driving by many times and thinking I should give that place a try I finally stopped in for lunch. One of the day’s lunch specials on the day I visited was rib tips and fries for $ 5. It sounded like a good deal so I took an order to go even though they do have in store seating. The people working were friendly and helpful and obviously invested in the business doing well. While talking to one of the staff I found out they only have one BBQ sauce which was a disappointment for me since I like HOT and in the metro area if they only have one choice you know it is not going to be hot. They did give me some hot sauce to spice up the BBQ sauce they have which was pretty cool of them. I was told they might be making a hot sauce in the future. I hope they do not wait too long since I think a good sauce is key to a good BBQ and it is probably a good business decision to carry a few different sauces. When I arrived home and opened my order I could smell the well-smoked meat and was excited to try it. My nose did not let me down the rib tips did have a nice smoked flavor. The BBQ sauce was okay but nothing extraordinary. The fries are seasoned and had good flavor but were a bit on the soggy side from the trip home, fries never seem to travel well.
