Delicious! I had the«Asian Hangover» which was SOGOOD. The pork was tender. It had a hidden sweetness that I loved. The beans added nice color and crunch to the meal, and the rice was perfectly cooked and great for soaking up that delicious pork sauce.(The egg was a good and fun addition to the plate, though I don’t think it was necessary). My water glass was continuously filled(I’m always gulping down glasses) and the champagne was perfect for a special-occasion dinner. The waitstaff was very friendly. The bathrooms were clean. There was even a bookshelf for kids to pick out a book to read.

Just get the crème brûlée. It’s insanely good. The other food is great too but the crème brûlée is just to die for honestly. That’s all I have to say.

I will start off by saying that restaurant gets 10 stars service. Thomas was our waiter and he was excellent! He answered all of our questions, was knowledgeable about the menu, and made some great recommendations. I also love how they have the call ahead reservation line. I called and was told it would be 20 minutes which wasn’t enough time for us to get there so I called back a half an hour later and I was told the wait would be an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. We arrived an hour later and were seated almost instantaneously. We had the all-American burger, macaroni and cheese, fish and chips, bacon and onion dip, and pretzel bread to eat. We also had the crème brûlée. I had The homemade ginger ale. The ginger ale was excellent. I also loved the bacon and onion dip followed by the burger. The fish and chips was also very good, their fries are amazing. I didn’t love the mac & cheese and thought that it could’ve had some more flavor. Overall, it was a really great meal and we will be back. I want to try the dish with rice, pork, and a fried egg!

Wow, has this place gotten popular! I stopped in at 5:15 on a Monday and got the second to the last table! And it’s not really a happy hour type of place or night! Food wise, they still serve the same pub food-fish and chips, burgers, grilled cheese, beef and salmon and offer a handful of craft beers and mass market wines. They certainly must be doing something right. Service is prompt and friendly. Parking, street only so that can be a bit tricky. Recommended but be sure to go early! They do take reservations if you are able to plan ahead.

Outstanding service and food! Our server Rachel gave us a few recommendations off the menu and boy was she right! I ordered the burger they had on special(Morel Mushroom Burger) and my husband ordered the fish and chips. Both plates had generous servings and on point flavor!!! The burger was juicy and flavorful. The fish was lightly battered and crisp. The French fries were thicker than the average and were ok. Nothing to write home about. I substituted fried green beans instead of chips for $ 2. Those were delicious! I would highly recommend this place!!! We will be back! Side note: They also had a great beer selection and the desserts sounded phenomenal(too full to try them this time).

This was the first establishment I visited on my trip to the twin cities. I came straight from the airport. It is easy to find and doesn’t look like anything special from the outside, but this modern pub is special indeed, once you’re inside. Service was excellent, along with the dishes I tried, the bison pot roast and uncle bryan burger. The portions are a little small, but that’s a good thing, so you don’t get too fat! I should have subbed the cheese on my burger, since I hate blue cheeee, but didn’t see it on the menu. That was about the only thing about my visit I didn’t like. I was able to sample the local root beer on draft as well, which was only $ 2.50. Although it wasn’t a great root beer, it was okay for dining at a restaurant.

I’m so sad I almost didn’t want to go here! I got turned off by the word«British» but it was wonderful! I devoured the onion and bacon dip, so delish! The beer selection was wonderful. The service was totally on point! You do not sit long with a empty glass or a dirty dish at your table. We called ahead of time to see what the wait was, it was a busy night but we got right in. The burgers were slap your mama good. The fries were monstrous. I really like the location. The only thing I could have done without was the lady next to me with her bare feet up on the bench next to me, ewwww!!! Can’t wait to go back :)

We got to try this restaurant for the first time last night and it was great! We did call ahead seating and the wait was a little long but it was completely worth it. The beer selection was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the root beer! Asian hangover was amazing, the fish and chips are outstanding and the dragon burger was great. Our server Sarah absolutely rocked and it was a great experience. We will totally make the trip here again!

The service here is great if you can manage to get a table! Very busy place and for a reason. Not only is there a solid menu of food to suit all pallets, but there is a great beer and wine selection. Customer service is also pretty incredible to the point that I almost felt over served. Nothing went missed and I never went wanting. There is a great vibe here but the size means you either hope to squeeze in at the bar or wait a significant time for a table. You must go here. Eat, drink, be merry.

Absolutely amazing! I ordered their house made ginger ale and if you were gonna tell me I would be going WOW to ginger ale, well I wouldn’t have believed you until now. Pretty darn refreshing! The bacon & onion dip was the unbelievable, and it was paired with the perfect bread, I would have been fine with my day with just that appetizer! The fish and chips was SUPERB! So fresh! Dare I say, best fish I have ever had! The in house made tartar was also on point 100%. I totally started dipping my chips into that by the end of the meal. On that note, the chips were on that perfect line of size/crispness/soft center. Consistent with the quality of this place so far, the side of crispy green beans was very tasty! My buddy ordered the Banh Mi, which I cannot fully pass a review on because I am not partial to sauerkraut, and the pickled carrots in the sandwich reminded me a bit of it, but the other spices and meat in the sandwich were really tasty! I am so pumped to go back and try more! The staff was also super friendly! If you are going, call ahead because they take reservations! This place is soooo good they fill up pretty quick!

It makes all the difference when a place makes you feel like you are home. From the owner to the servers, they go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Nice selection of craft beer, excellent service, and phenomenal food make this my favorite place in the Cities. I feel like I am part of the cast from Cheers at George’s. I went back the next day and grabbed a George’s burger and fries to go before heading to the airport. Megan was pleasant when she took my order on the phone and Genna recommended a tasty bbq sauce to go with my fries. They fries were incredible– best ever. I put the bbq sauce on my burger and I scaled the stairway to hamburger heaven. I thought it was cool that the Owner took some time out of his busy work schedule to hang with family at the restaurant. What I realized that everyone there was family. I tried to convince Fred to open a restaurant in Indiana. He said it was too long of a walk home. You guys are the best! I’ll miss everyone at George’s. Thank you Tara, Rachel, Genna, Megan, and Fred.

Quaint little place near 50th and Lyndale that a friend of ours told us to check out and is an employee as well. It’s best to make a reservation for this place or you’ll be waiting 45 minutes plus. This place has some down right amazing fish and the homemade tartar just makes it that much better. I joked with our server that it could be served as a chowder! They make their fish with Fulton’s — Lonely Blonde(a favorite of ours to begin with) which is something different than anyone else and done perfectly. Not one piece of fish left on our plates and the tartar sauce bowl was empty! Can’t wait to go back to try some more tasty meals. The new food delivery service, Bite Squad was in and out about a half dozen times in the short time we were there proving just how darn good this place really is. This place is legit! #knowbeforeyougo

My wife and I took a walk around Lake Harriet and wanted some lunch from a place we haven’t been to. The piquant horseradish of the Banh Mi came through! Pretty good loaf of bread, but the meat was swell. We saw tons of good looking dishes all around the establishment as well. I got the fried beans as the side. Amazing! The aioli dipping sauce was pretty bland though. It tasted like straight mayo. I would have liked a little more spiciness. My only down side of the place. Maybe a hint of horseradish would really help it out. The beans were super crispy though, with a light and lovely batter. I ordered a Nitro Mojo, which was awesome. Great accouterment to the meal. Our server was super cool and notched the meal up at least half a star. Great atmosphere too. A TV above the bar in case you wanted to catch a ball game.

Update 03⁄2016: We finally made it to brunch! This is a very small menu, but still absolutely delicious offerings and at very fair prices! The English Fry was a perfect variety of food and the breakfast sandwich, though a bit difficult to handle without making a mess, was amazing. The bacon is a bit on the salty side, but if you’re like me, that just makes it better! They serve $ 5 mimosas all day that come in stemless flutes and are so light and crisp and just taste fresh, and whatever coffee was brewing today was delightfully strong. As expected, George once again did not disappoint!

I wish I could give this place a better rating but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. The atmosphere was nice and presentation of everything was beautiful. I am impressed that their ginger ale is home-made. The ginger taste is very defined. 5 stars. Battered green beans: Loved the pairing with the sauce but I felt like it was under-cooked. The green bean had that raw crunch to it. Other than that, it was good, though it’d be better left in the fryer a little longer. 3.5 stars Asian hangover: The pork was not as easily torn apart as I thought it’d be. The sauce was a little bit too salty. The green beans, again, tasted uncooked. Super crunchy but at least you know they were fresh right? Rice was good. 3 stars. Lamb meatball curry: The lamb curry and cucumber sauce did not mix, what-so-ever. Needless to say, I was not a fan of this dish. The meatballs had a very prominent gamey taste to it. The sauce was okay, mediocre at best. I would not order this dish again. 2 stars

I battled with giving this place a 3 or 4 star. I wanted to like George and the Dragon sooo much. Let me tell you what I loved about this place: 1) it’s a legit English pub. Yaaaas. 2) the actual name of the pub gave me the warm fuzzies because my dog’s name is George. I’m weird, don’t judge me. 3) they have the sweetest little bookshelf in the corner of the pub filled with children’s books. There’s nothing like being surrounded by a bunch of super cool hipster parents with their adorable offspring indulging in some good ol’ classic child literature. 4) the service was awesome. 5) they serve brunch. So…we went for brunch. I got the short rib benedict, which I added a photo of in my review. I know, the pic is pretty much food porn for anyone who digs brunch. But honestly, it wasn’t as good as it looked. The ribs were a bit dry, the toast was super thin,(which, some people may like but I didn’t) and the hollandaise sauce was bland. It was one of the saddest eggs benny I’ve ate. And not because it tasted horrible, but because it tasted like nothing. I did gaze at the dinner menu on our way out and it looks pretty legit, so I’m willing to give it another go to see what that is all about.

Holy crap this place was delicious. The Katherine salad was amazing. Perfectly cooked strip steak over delicate greens. The dressing was tasty and exact: not too much, not too little. The Fish & Chips were also incredible, and the tartar sauce was really inventive and sooooo good. I was just passing through, and searched for restaurants based on rating. They did NOT disappoint. Will definitely go again next time I’m in the area.

That bacon and onion dip though. Holy shit that was good. Like a warm giant bacon hug in my mouth. Thank you George and the Dragon for putting that recipe online. I love you. I was scoping this place out for a potential employee recognition dinner, so I stopped by on a Tuesday for lunch. I was smitten with the atmosphere. Great pub feel, even better service, and an unexpected menu. I had their bacon and onion dip, the G&D banh mi w/fried green beans, and the dragons milk braised beef. I was splitting the meal with a friend. They brought us our own plates with portions already split up. Service like that is outstanding to me. I can’t even write about the dip. Just order it. I’m a snob when it comes to Viet food, so I was a little skeptical about what they did to my peoples sandwich. Their twist enhanced this sandwich, I was soooo food happy. 5 spice pork, with wasabi mayo, with your typical banh mi pickled fixin’s, on a ciabatta bread. Well done George, well done. The green beans were yummy, they were not greasy, it’s like a tempura batter, very nice. The braised beef… my god. Tender, full of flavor, juicy, just a freakin beautiful hunk of meat. It came with mash potatoes and green beans, not too memorable but nothing could stand out next to that beef. I brought a group of co-workers back a couple of weeks later. Everyone loved their meals. We had one vegan diner, and they were very accommodating and tried to give him options other than a salad. I on the other hand did try a salad this time, the Katherine steak salad with a Parmesan dressing. Once again I was not disappointed. The beer selection is also top notch. Awesome service, and a menu I could take a bite out of just reading it. I’ll be back!

A chill restaurant despite its mysteriously fiery name. The food that comes out of the kitchen is not of your usual pub quality food. One of the best dishes I’ve had in Minneapolis is situated right here in this restaurant. The Asian Hangover is hands down one of the most tasteful creations I’ve blessed with my mouth with. The tender juicy five spice pork is a match made in heaven with the rice. The rice blends so well with the pork that you need to eat it together and then on top of all that, an egg!!! WTF? An egg? Yup, it works. It’s like the sunny side egg adds another dimension to this already flavorful dish. I’ve been here twice. First time there I’d give it 5 stars. Second time I went, the Asian Hangover, however good, was a tad too salty for my liking. Hope it was just a mistake and not a reoccurring theme. My favorite entrée was actually the special of the night which was the ahi tuna. The fish was fresh and grilled perfectly. It was tender and the meat was flavorful. I was surprised this dish was my favorite that night beating out the usual Asian Hangover. Am I surprised? Yes… A little since I give such high credit to the 5 spice pork dish that I discount everything else on the menu. The place is not overly loud. Smallish seating area with a full bar that is energetic. It’s been quite some time since I last visited. Need to go back again!

* Welcome Experience — Ordinary Was greeted by someone friendly who seated me… * Establishment — Ordinary /cool This place felt spacious and open with a cool effort on their part to make it unique. I liked the way the bright décor felt and I like the«medieval» theme. * Service — Ordinary The staff is nice enough. There was nothing extraordinary there. * Food Quantity /Quality /Presentation — Ordinary I’ve had two experiences at GATD, once I ordered the«Katherine» steak salad and the second trip I ordered the special, Curry shrimp with rice. The steak salad was very good! I enjoyed every component — especially the bread-crumb condiment they top it with. That’s a great addition. I would order this again… The curry shrimp special was a big disappointment. The shrimp were very well seasoned with a great cook on them, and they came in a generous portion. That was the best part of the dish. The rice was just plain white rice with no seasoning. The rice was not fresh. There were some scallions sprinkled on top. This dry, flavorless rice paired with that shrimp was not a good choice. Why not cook the rice in coconut milk or add some other component to give it some character or consistency with the dish? Also it was dry and hard. Joining the great shrimp and the awful rice was a Greek yogurt /sour cream /cucumber sauce. This seemed totally out of place with dry plain rice and dry(although well seasoned) shrimp. I didn’t enjoy the dish… You can see from the photo that the shrimp looks great! Looking forward to a third visit to try something new. Keep up the good work GATD and no more of that rice on the plates! * What I’ll remember Beer was good and the Katherine salad too! * What I can’t wait to forget Dat rice.
