Oh how I love the Downtowner! I should have stuck with that but I ventured with the Sausage jucy lucy. I was very disappointed. No cheese as implied by name. Wasn’t wowed by it, especially for the price. Best to stick with Downtowner.

We ate breakfast here today and had a wonderful meal. I had a biscuit sandwich with sausage, cheddar and basted egg and it was great. A big sausage patty. build-a-biscuit: build your own biscuit sandwich by picking from the ingredients below: basic biscuit(2 items) basic biscuit plus(3 items) meat: house sausage patty, black forest ham, duroc bacon, pinto patty egg: scrambled, fried or basted cheese: cheddar, swiss or jack My husband has the biscuits with sausage gravy and ate every bite. the sausage gravy was excellent. biscuits & gravy: southern style sausage or mushroom gravy on buttermilk biscuits We also purchased a loaf of challah and a downtowner to go. I think the downtowner lasted 2 blocks in the car. :) downtowner flour, water, milk, sugar, butter, yeast, salt; with cinnamon, cardamom & cloves Friendly staff, great food and parking — who can ask for more?

Went here for breakfast — LOVE their Southern style chicken biscuit. Delicious and I wholly recommend it. I’ve also gotten their pastries before — specifically the croissants and the cinnamon rolls. Both are light and flaky and very good! Loses points for limited seating and often long wait times — so get there early, or call ahead and pick it up to go. I continue to return and always bringing visiting family and friends to try it.

This was a great breakfast spot. Large space with a great atmosphere. Pancakes were amazing as were the biscuits and the lattes. Would highly recommend even if you have a ways to travel — it is worth it.

Sun Street Breads baked goods and bread are very good. And it could be a great restaurant. So close to healthy… but not. Someone in the kitchen is just slathering butter(or some kind of oil) on everything. Scrambled eggs good. Fried eggs greasy. Bacon a greasy ball(strips mangled together), excellent toasted whole wheat walnut bread… but drenched in butter/oil such that it soaked through to the other side. Saturated. Could have been good and healthy. So close, but please please lose the GREASE. I love the neighborhood restaurants and would love to see you succeed.

First time visit that both my wife and I were very happy with. We both had the Biscuit Royale, which is a mushroom and cheese crêpe with spinach on top, and served on a biscuit. The crêpe was very good(although the spinach could have used just a bit more cooking), while the biscuit was spectacular — rich and crumbly. Very good coffee and cold beverages. Plenty of tables indoors, although a bit crowded. Parking a bit tight, as part of a very busy strip mall. Prices very reasonable(about $ 7 to $ 8). Recommended.

I have been here a couple times, both during their early lunch hours. The first time was for my own curiosity, and the second was because the family insisted on trying this place. This place rates no better than mediocre. To their benefit, their overall food quality is good enough for me to finish an entire meal. However, I cannot rate their food as outstanding The quality of the food is not good enough for what they charge. I do not mind paying high-end prices for food, but the extra money spent here is not worth it. Their employees are friendly for the most part. They are also helpful and resourceful when needed. They are also pleasant to be around. Therefore, I feel comfortable approaching the employees anytime I need something. The employees do a decent job at keeping everything clean and organized. Their work area always looks amazing. It is spotless and sanitary. Regarding their eating area, I often see used newspapers laying on the tables, which I never see the employees throw away or put in a better place. This issue can make finding a place to sit more difficult. Aside from the newspaper issue, I have not seen any major issues with cleanliness. When I am in the area and need some good lunch, I will likely keep this place in mind only when family or work insists. I do not feel that the quality of the place is good enough for me to place it any higher than I do on my priority list.

I heart everything about Sun Street! I especially love the bacon cheddar biscuits, the Dogwood coffee, and the raspberry jam that comes with the toast. As a transplant who has lived on both coasts, I’ve finally found a place where I can get sourdough bread that’s just as delicious as what I used to get at my favorite bakeries in the Bay Area and Boston. Pizza night is really fun – the crust is incredible and you can see them hand tossing it. Even though this place is in a strip mall, it has a cozy, neighborhoody vibe on the inside, with cute murals and a weekly riddle. You can tell the owners have a sense of humor and imagination. I’m so glad this place is in my neighborhood. Sun Street is a gem!

Nice little place. Breakfast isn’t bad but nothing special. It’s a little pricey for how plain it is. Also it’s small so stay away from weekend mid-morning. However it’s got great natural light and its own parking lot so I do think it’s a nice place to meet a friend for coffee, treat, and long chat.

Excellent Cappuccino. Unique pastries. Bread, baguettes and croissants made me feel like I was back in France. Easy to find. Fairly close to I94. Want a seat on a weekend? Get there earlier than mid-Morning.

It’s just so good! I am a sucker for their biscuits and gravy. Parking is easy in the attached lot. Although the place is always packed and I have had to wait in pretty long lines I have always been able to find a table. My biggest complaint is that it’s a little pricey. The biscuits and gravy on their own aren’t bad($ 8) but I like mine with eggs over easy and it was going to be almost $ 3 to add two eggs, really?!? For two of us to get breakfast and coffees its always about $ 30 which is not unreasonable but considering this place is fast casual(not sit down) I would expect a little bit less. I will keep coming here and thing it’s worth a trip.

Adorable shop with excellent parking and a convenient hop off the highway. The staff was friendly and their baked breads looked amazing. The food was ok, but a little disappointing. For the price, I excepted far more quantity and quality. Their house made sausage patty was quite good. I will definitely be back to try their breads, but not for the food.

This is the breakfast sandwich I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Fluffy biscuit, choose your own ingredients, fresh and made to order. I would eat one every day if I lived in the neighborhood.

What a lovely and funny place!!! Sun Street Bakery is the perfect name. On the morning we were there, sunlight was pouring in… And with the food they have, it could probably bring sunshine to a cloudy day. I went in thinking«strip mall?» And came out thinking«heaven.» Hubby had the biscuits and gravy… Everything they should be– light biscuits with enough structure to not get soggy and gravy that was not only delicious, but had real, decent-sized chunks of sausage. Yum! He also had this blackberry swirl pastry which fantasies could be made of… Big blackberries, flaky sweet dough, and this killer custardy cream. Wowzers! I got the special frittata which was delicious with a srichacha mayo. Had to order the potato gordas for the table– because… Just had to… They are amazing! Fried potato balls that came out just perfect. I’ve never had anything quite like them. Go to Sun Street, but make sure to leave a table open for me!

I’ve only been here once, despite it being a mere hop and a skip from our house. It’s quaint, but not overly busy like every other place that serves coffee in a ten block radius. I had a cappuccino, an almond pastry of some kind, and my husband had a croissant and a coffee. Everything was good! The counter staff smiled adoringly and waved at our baby, who is irresistible. They still scored points for that. Totally pleasant experience.

I forget about this place all the time. It’s not their fault. They’re located halfway across town from where I live, and usually if I’m going to make that kind of trip the destination is always Patisserie 46. I’m sure they didn’t mean to accidentally exist three blocks down from the Best Bakery in the Midwest. It seems like a cruel mistake, because Sun Street is absolutely solid and has a couple of legs up on P46: 1. If you’re a Dogwood fan, that’s what they’re brewing and it’s– as ever– damn good. 2. My lover is not a big sweets fan, and being partnered with a bakery fanatic isn’t always a treat for him. Lucky for us, Sun Street has a ton of savory options for folks like him. Their sweet potato chevre danish is a winner for all types of eaters. 3. Sun Street is one of the only bakeries I’m aware of that offers a solid breakfast menu in addition to the usual offerings of morning buns, scones, etc, so you don’t have to choose between a plated breakfast and a tasty baked good. Their biscuit sandwiches, as everyone has mentioned, are shut-your-face-down good. Vegetarians, highly suggest the Pinto Patty– knocks other«bean burgers» in town out of the park. 4. You can actually get a table on the weekend. We had to wait a little bit, because it was 11am on a Sunday morning, but the turnover is really quick and the whole place is full of sunshine and warm wood. 5. Great prices! $ 7-ish bucks for a biscuit sandwich that’ll keep you going until 4pm. Eat! Enjoy! Go there on purpose sometime!

There was a wild rumor that Sun Street had a solid breakfast sandwich and pancake assortment that required my attention. Saturday morning comes around, and I figure it’s best for me to get there and investigate said rumor. Parking is a shared lot with some other businesses in the strip mall deally. I can see this probably getting rather full rather quickly late in the morning or on a weekday. So, be warned you may hit up the street for parking. Ordering is all done at the front counter, menu up on the board behind the counter for all to see. I throw in my order for a southern fried chicken-bacon breakfast sandwich and a short stack of sourdough cakes, get my number, a cup of coffee(needs to be ordered at the counter), and find a spot to sit. It is self serve water as well, just around the counter a bit further into the restaurant. As I wait I notice that I can see back into the«magic workshop» where all the baked goods are made. This was pretty cool. Also could hear the workers rather easily, so, I hope they keep this in mind(not that anything foul was said while I was there, just pointing it out). Helped pass the time as I sat and waited for a little over 5 minutes for the chow. Then, it arrives. Two plates of wonderful chow. First thing first, the biscuit the sandwich is served on isn’t your basic biscuit. It’s kind of like a ciabatta biscuit of sorts, which is fantastic. It held up the entire way, even with gravy poured everywhere. May have been the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. The fried chicken and bacon with the sausage gravy poured over it all is good enough to get dogs and cats to not kill each other long enough to eat in harmony. It’s salty-savory bliss that only gets better when the bacon flavor hits you. The biscuit again has a very unique flavor that only adds to the incredible flavor of it’s contents. And you know what, I dare you, double dog dare you actually, to not lick the bowl of sausage gravy after you pour it all on. Drop a spoon on the floor and hunch over and do it, it’s ok, nobody will judge you. Some of the best sausage gravy I’ve ever had. Makes me want to go back today and get the BnG now… and this sandwich, again. The sourdough cakes. They were light, they soaked up the syrup real nice like, and were meh. Wasn’t anything really special about them, honestly. Nothing too sourdough’y taste to it, and nothing overly BAM when I bit into them. They were light and far more spongy than basic buttermilk, but, they lacked any sort of conviction in being spectacular. If I were rating the cakes on their own with this Unilocal scale, I’d say 2⁄5 for«meh, I’ve had better.» Maybe a whipped topping or fruit topping would help their cause? Missing something. Left me disappointed and looking for a sausage gravy bowl to lick. Not a bad place, it’s a drive for me, so I might hit it up for BnG, but, got more bookmarks to wreck along the way before I make a return visit.

YUM! The end. But seriously, this place can do no wrong in my breakfast experience. GOOD coffee, killer baked goods, delicious sausage gravy. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. *Note– get a half order of biscuits and gravy or you’ll die. Your heart will fail. Not because its unhealthy, but because its so good. Oh, and also because its MASSIVE.* Moving on. I have only been here on weekday mornings, which means it has not been super busy(yay!) and I have not had any other food here. But they have a surprisingly good tap list and a Monday night pizza deal which I want to come in for. Just get over here. Eat something.
