Twice this week I’ve been reminded not judge a book by its cover. My shopping experience at this GameStop was one of those reminders. I’m really behind the times, but I’m on a quest to find some Star Wars games for my PS3. I stopped in here and was greeted by Jon. He asked how he could help and I told him I for what I was looking. He walked me over to the section of the store with the games and was very knowledgeable with the games and most of the inventory. He didn’t have one of the games, so he looked up where the closest store was that had it. When he handed me a flyer to let me know I could trade in games for store credit, I told him I only owned Disney Infinity and purchased that PS3 last year so I could play. The game system I had before that was Atari, and he laughed when I told him this and then laughed even more when he realized it was the truth. The other lady working was equally polite and sure, they got me with the upsell to buy one of their membership cards. But that goes to show if you give someone the customer service they expect, they will spend money. I shouldn’t have thought that these were going to be snot-nosed kids who just want to play games all day in the store. I worked retail for eight years, so I’m glad Jon reminded me that it doesn’t matter where you work. What matters is that you give each customer the shopping experience that makes them feel special, whether or not the wallet opens.

Not a bargain anymore. Was able to buy at Assassins Creed Black Flag at Best Buy(new) for $ 29.95 only after I asked the Game Stop clerk if they would price match. They said no. I took my 4 games that I wanted to trade in, they only valued my 4 games at $ 9. So instead of buying the AC Black flag game at $ 49(new) I will be donating my used games to The Bridge for Youth and write off the game values on my taxes. Win, win for me, but sorry to say a loss for Game Stop. But I tried. :).
