Was starving from going to the many brewpubs on the rails. My wife saw this place from the train and we raced out of the train. We had burgers and they were great. Plenty of fries and good recommendations from the bartenders on local hotspots. Definitely will be going back.

Sub was awesome, Italian beef. The bread was perfect, seasoned well. Delicious. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and food. Good suggestions. Definitely will be back to try everything else. Thanks big 10 crew!

The place to go on campus! Their food is consistently great, almost addictive and selection of beers on tap is changed often to keep things interesting. Of course, the personable and very efficient staff is the cherry on the cake. Yes, I am a proud regular customer. For 16 years.

We saw Big Ten from the Green Line and made the 3 second executive decision to try it out, hoping to curb our hunger. Plus, it’s close to the U campus which is convenient. This place fits the niche of a homey hole in the wall establishment, with its pub-like menu of comfort food, cheap drinks, great specials, and extra friendly staff. We went here on a Thursday night around 9:15 and it was pretty empty, to the point that we were worried that the kitchen would be closing soon. Rest assured, the place is open until 1am and it sounds like food can still be served close to this point. WHEW. Late night happy hour is from 9pm-12am…$ 1.50 for rail drinks… um yes please. Ok so the cups were a little small, but $ 3 for two is still a great deal. Anyway, we split nachos and the Reuben, both were pretty standard but nothing to complain about. Now that I think about it though, no, I change my mind. The Reuben was actually a couple notches above average, great flavor, nothing too overpowering and the right amount of sauce so you never had a dry bite. They even split the sandwich on two separate plates so we didn’t have to fight over who ate more fries. The nachos were piled high with toppings and included your standard ingredients. Our server was quite attentive and conversational… he checked up on us often but not to the point that he was bugging us for not ordering anything else. He was pretty cool. Didn’t know it going in but from 10pm-midnight on Thursdays, they have trivia night… you pay $ 5 per team. We didn’t play and it seemed a little slow but if you’re looking for something to do on a Thursday night, why not give it a try. Plus there’s a good amount of TVs around if there’s a big game on. All in all, so glad we tried this place. Don’t be fooled by its somewhat grungy outdoor appearance… this place seems like a classic.

Would prefer to give this a 2.5 rating because I think it’s better than«Meh» but not as good as Average. College hangout with quiet environment on a Wednesday night but I’m sure it cranks during March Madness or Football season. Menu is pub type stuff, pretty run of the mill, hot sandwiches, finger foods, burgers, and beers. Good amount of TVs to watch whatever game is on and the staff is friendly but not as timely as I’d like… we had to wave down our waitress for a second round of beer. After our food was delivered it was like she forgot we were there… maybe an off night for her or maybe I’m too demanding. Food was bland, chicken wings, cheeseburgers and Cheese curds… nothing too healthy nor tasty! I’d probably not return but you should check it out if you like college like hangouts.

This place never changes in a good way. Love the sandwiches and subs which are all good but not really amazing. Don’t take that in a bad way. The beauty of his place is that if gives you good food and decently priced drinks every time in cool and classic surroundings. We need more solid places like this around campus.

This place was great! We thought it was going to be awful, just based on the outside; but I should know by now, not to judge a book(or restaurant) by their aesthetics(eh, who am I? I judge everything, it’s my special quirk). Anyway, we sat down and admired the sports bar atmosphere, it happens to be something we both high enjoy(for some gosh forsaken reason). We both ordered a «sammich» with fries and we weren’t let down. The sandwich was loaded with toppings and doused in cheese(now me being lactose, it was easy to just pull/scrap the cheese off). The price didn’t break the bank(and I hope it wouldn’t for some sandwiches), the employees were friendly and always up for good conversation, and the food itself was delicious. Will I be back? Yeah, I would let me make me another sammich!

So this is for the sandwich shop that’s right next door. First time I had a sandwich it was decent. The second time around it was horrible. It took 15 minutes to get a lunch special ready which is just fries and a sandwich. Meat seemed old or spoiled. It isn’t very sanitary their either. Sandwich makers touch the garbage bins and then make your sandwich. Wish there was more common sense when handling food

Big10 is close to campus and they serve a variety of sandwiches and fries. I’ve only had their fries because I’m a fry freak. I’m not a big fan of their fries, It fries had too much potato for my liking. The oil they used were not clean as well because the fries that were served had was more dark colored rather than bright, light color, which would be the case if they used fresh, new oil. I don’t recommend their fries. Maybe I’ll come back again to try their sandwiches, but until then, I wouldn’t come back.

Definitely my favorite place to eat on campus. The subs are unbeatable. I recommend a half turkey sub or wings. Both are amazing.

Ok so my college days are long gone so walking if this place that my friend raves about was«hmmm maybe this was great when we were 18» but sure enough the subs was really good. the toasted roll with their garlic sauce and something about the shredded lettuce was simple and good. In many of the review no one really mention the wings here and that is what my friend always talked about that need wish he could buy their sauce. Now it is not a true buffalo wing but it like a cross between bbq and buffalo sauce. good combination. I do like how they prepare their wings are it a good crispy fry without the breading so you really enjoy the crispy skin and their special sauce.

I walked into Big 10 to meet a group of undergrads and was pleasantly surprised! From first impressions outside, I thought the place looked pretty generic. Once I walked in, I thought the space was surprisingly nice. The ambiance is very«sports bar» in a great way. The food was another surprise! I ordered the sandwich special with fries. The sandwich that day was roast beef and it was nicely toasted with a ton of toppings and melted cheese. The fries were thin and well fried. Overall, a surprisingly great experience!

One of my favorite places to eat at the U of M campus. Probably the best wings in the city-plump and spicy, you’ll need a lot of napkins because they’re messy but you’ll like em that way! A great selection of brews. Never had bad service but it is busy on big game nights. Some of my favorite college memories include dropping by for wings, chili and beer after Gopher hoops and football games. Reasonably priced, you can’t go wrong.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. I ordered the All-American chicken sandwich and it was excellent. However, my mom ordered the chicken wings with sweet chili sauce and she said they were just okay. Next time we come here she will be getting something different. Looking forward to my next visit!

Cheap drinks, great subs! Can’t ask for much more. I recommend trying the lunch special. Each weekday, they special a different sub. You get half a sub and a bunch of fries(fills just about anybody up) for $ 5.99. The line might be long, but they are really quick with turning around subs. They have some pretty cheap drink specials during the week, however, they give them out in notably small cups. Free popcorn though!

Really want to give this place a bad review, but the food was so good, I can’t justify a bad review. The service was great, the food was good and the price was right. The only bad thing have to say about it is all the Gopher hockey stuff on the walls. Sorry, I’m a SCSU Husky hockey fan and after many years of the I94 series between the two, just can’t bring myself to like them. And that is the worst thing I can say about the place. But after being in the heart of the Univ of MN, it is perfectly understandable. Next time I’m in Dinky Town, I’ll have to put this place on the top of my must eat ats.

Drinks are amazing and I can understand why everyone enjoys the ambiance of the place. However, their food is mediocre and the entrée is incredibly small. They load your plate with sides and leave you wanting when it comes to the main course. Overall I left the place feeling swindled for how much the tiny sandwich I had was. Not coming back, unless I’m drunk.

First off this place is a dive bar which is known for being a spot you go to before Sally’s drink specials. The food here is cheap and they give you amazing specials for drinks that get the party started. Let’s just get to pros and cons. Pros: I believe one day that have like 3 $ pitcher beers!, the sandwiches here are made next door and are actually good, the food is really cheap as well and is located in a good spot for college kids! Cons: it’s a dive bar everything looks like it’s about to break, the bathrooms are downstairs in a dungeon and are nasty and this place can be so dead that they even just close down early sometimes!

I graduated from college m-a-n-y years ago so how can I work this dive into my life today? Hmm… My family took the new Green Line from St. Paul to Minneapolis. Wandered in here for burgers. It’s very college-y and that was a bonus for our 13 and 9yo sons who loved this atmosphere. The food-Man was I surprised. The burger was delicious, the Rachael sandwich-SUPER, fries-great. My husband ordered a bloody mary-«Oh not for me it’s only 4:30» I said. Then I had a sip of his drink and DANG! Best bloody mary I’ve had! Ok so then I had to order one. I told my boys they’ll have to go to the U so I can be the empty nester crazy mom who sits at the bar here drinking bloody mary’s.

First time back to Big 10 in 14 years and nice to see so much is unchanged. Including the delicious toasted subs and chili! While much of the rest of Washington ave is bulldozed and misdeveloped, Big 10 survives! Long live, Big 10!

This is THEBEST sub you will find… probably anywhere. I still crave Big Ten subs, and wish I could go back to Minneapolis to eat them. The bread is so soft and delicious and really makes the sub. While they can be pricey, half a sub should be enough to fill the average person… I would spend the $ 10 to get a full sub if you’re really, really hungry(plus did I mention these are the best subs?). I think 99 cent sub day is sometime in the fall, so I would keep an eye out for that. I would go back in line 2 or 3 times for some subs. As for the bar, I’ve only really hung out there once on a pub crawl, but the bartender was really cool and refilled our cups for free cause he knew the deal we were getting with the pub crawl wasn’t really a deal at all. Super laid back place. ANDGREATSUBS!!!
