Building get was purchased by Tommy of Tommy’s Sausage Co. Same owner as the one on 180 between Weatherford and Mineral Wells. Same fantastic food. Huge smoker out back. I love pork. The pulled pork sandwich is killer. The brisket is great if you prefer beef over pork. Great sausages. But… the signature item for me are the ribs. Out of this world! !

Was able to go to Chubby’s last weekend while in Mineral Wells. Just a small shack off the road in Mineral Wells, to me this represents small town BBQ. Now I must say this isn’t just a BBQ restaurant, they did have a full menu of country-style, home-cookin’, but we stopped in for the BBQ and as usual, I made an attempt to try almost every dish: The Brisket: the brisket had a nice smoke ring and a solid smokiness to it. It was sliced nicely as well. It was a bit on the dry side and I think that since it is such a small operation, they probably have a bit of trouble keeping the BBQ at-the-ready. However, overall a very solid brisket. The Ribs: the ribs were the best item on the menu I think. That solid smoke flavor was supported with a very nice rub. I could have eaten a whole rack probably(while earning a scornful look from the girlfriend no doubt). The ribs alone definitely warrant another visit to this place. The Sausage: the sausage was cooked well, but it wasn’t much different than the standard sausage served at most BBQ places countrywide. The Sauce: the sauce I thought was quite interesting. Vinegar-based and runny, you could also taste a hint of honey in this unique mixture. Wasn’t exactly my favorite, but still pretty good if you like sauce on your BBQ and for this place, I think you really don’t need it. Overall a good outing and good food. If I am Mineral Wells again and make it back, I would try the ribs and brisket again and would up my rating to a four should the brisket not be as dry.

We went in to try the new business as we try to stay with local ones as much as possable. We sat down and waited about 15 min. and no one even asked us anything or even looked at us. We stopped two of the girls working and they both said that they would get someone. We sat for 10 min. more and then got up and left. The place was not full but nobody seem to be geting anything done at all. We will not be going back there again!

Good food and good prices. Service could be improved but the quality of the food and the prices make it tolerable. The chubby is sausage and chopped BBQ beef over a bed of fritos with tomatoes and onions and jalapeños. The chicken fried steak is good and the fries are fresh cut and soggy/crispy good. Wide variety of choices on the menu including calf fries, frog legs and BBQ. Cheap and good breakfasts.

Located on the south side of downtown Mineral Wells, Hwy 281. Just passing through and looking for local homemade food. Chubbys was excellent. Great lunch time specials, good BBQ, side dishes, and great desserts. They even have fried green tomatoes, plus homemade yeast rolls. The service is good and the owners are extremely friendly. Not a fancy place but good, generous homemade food.
