If you’re into board and card games, then Game Master Grill is definitely a spot that you should check out. They have dozens of games and have special nights when they play marathons of tv shows such as Doctor Who. The staff was very welcoming and one member proclaimed Game Master Grill to be the place for«all things food, board games, and nerdy.» I highly encourage anyone who enjoys board games to come here; I think you’ll enjoy the atmosphere and the company here(just a friendly group of people). As for food, I ordered a steak quesadilla. It was good but quite salty. I’m pretty sure the steak and spinach were cooked with soy sauce which would account for the saltiness of the quesadilla. I dipped the quesadilla in sour cream which helped to balance the flavor. Lastly, the salsa added a pleasant element of freshness to what was generally a greasy dish.

Food was very good and staff was super nice. Kinda small and definitely tight. There were only us and another couple in here an we were say right next to each other. Overall fun experience especially if you like card games and board games. This is the whole theme of this place.

This place is what every gamer is looking for– good food, good people, and good games. The location itself is small and there is no parking(it’s definitely hard to miss if you’re not actively looking for it) but it has a cozy diner feel. They use card play mats as place mats which I think is brilliant and they have fun poker chip/dice salt and pepper shakers. Their menu is clever, albeit a bit small. Most of the food on their menu are puns of different boardgames like«Legend of the Five Wings» or «Ticket to Fries». I love their Catan Chips which are just homemade potato chips. Their food is diner price and their portions are adequate. I found myself taking home some of my Catan Chip appetizer because there was just so much! I’ve been to this location two times, my first visit was with my boyfriend and it was great. The food came out quick, our waitress was sweet, and at the end of our meal we were given two D10’s to take home. My second visit was right after a snow storm and they were both short on ingredients and short on staff. Sadly they pretty much had nothing on their menu that day and they didn’t give any dice at the end of the meal. Their selection of games isn’t bad but the tables are are little too small to play some games comfortably on so when I visited I chose to play small games like Munchkin. They also sell board games and some nerd merchandise like t-shirts. If you’re looking for a wide selection of games though I suggest taking a short drive to their sister game store Game Master Games.

The perfect place for gamers & geeks, and honestly, there’s nothing wrong with the décor or motto of the restaurant. The hater who left immature and insulting«tips» for this biz is the one who never left his momma’s basement or learned any manners and tolerance. Be gone, troll! As gal pal and gf of gamer geeks(but hater of D&D and WoW) there are TONS of other interesting and fun games here to choose from. So even tho I don’t geek out over pokémon or Dominion, there’s still Trivia Pursuit, Pictionary, and Apples to Apples to play. The owner and waitstaff are SUPER nice, friendly, funny, and chatty. Of the numerous times we came here, they don’t just chat w/our table but manage to chat up every other table and teach them new games between the meal. Oh, that’s right, they teach you how to play games here! Whether it’s a classic board game or new card games, they’ll take time to explain the rules while you wait for your food or after your meal. Yes, they encourage patrons to «loiter». And with a wide variety of beverages & desserts, why wouldn’t we? I’m from Maryland, but when I heard this place existed, I made a point to venture out there when my girlfriend and I visited NY. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. I order the Kingsburg Cuban Sandwich, and my girlfriend ordered the Mox Lobster Mac n’ Cheese. Both were delicious, and the portions were plentiful, and the prices were very reasonable. We also ordered the coffee, and the owner made sure that we never had to wait for a refill. At the end of the meal we were given complementary candies served in a dice tower. We arrived at an off peak time of the day(about 2pm) and were greeted by two very friendly customers who were eager to give recommendations. The owner was extremely personable, and taught us how to play Pink Treehouse, and would have taught us Quarto as well, if we hadn’t already known the rules. We probably played games for about an hour and a half, and the owner just seemed happy to have us. The menu is witty, and reading it was a lot of fun. That being said, if I had one wish for this place, it would be that more of the games mentioned on the food menu were available to play in the restaurant. This place makes me wish I were closer to NY. I’d certainly be a regular. As far as I know, there’s not another place like it in the country.

I have found the Game Master Grill to have an innovative & dirt cheap menu, good times, delightfully cheesy ambiance, and terrific service. As it’s name suggests, it’s theme is based around paper and dice games. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is outstanding. I haven’t loved every single item as much as that, but it’s hard to argue with the price… I regularly spend $ 25 there and got a drink, coffee, entrée, and dessert, and that sum included a $ 10 tip! I go late on Monday nights when they’ve been screening«Game of Thrones» to lead up to the season premier. Tons of fun!

I’m sorry to report that for this update I have to downgrade the Game Master Grill to three stars, and honestly that’s only because I still like the place as a locale for games. On my last two visits here I was exceptionally let down by the quality of the food. First there was a cheeseburger I ordered. The burger was not juicy and contained no seasoning which I could discern. In addition, the bun it came on was dry and hard. It was beyond disappointing. The second offense was a sad caesar salad. The lettuce was flimsy, the parmesan cheese was stuck together in a ball, and the dressing was the cheap dressing you’d find at a pizzeria(no joke.) The game master grill is a great place to get together for games, but the food has become suspect.

Thank you Unilocal!Found this place on here on a saturday night. We arrived at the Game Master Grill around 10, and it was completely empty. I found that a little strange, maybe its because the Black Sheep was across the street, and they had beer specials all night. Inside, the tables were covered with japanese game mats, which are a bit cheesy, and I think they could do away with the bulky napkin holders. The walls were covered with games that you can buy, and they have games that are open to play. The tables definitely need to be larger, so you can play board games! I also love the menu design. The dishes on the menu are mainly american foods which are named after board games. On to the food: I ordered the lobster mac n cheese, and a quarter slab of ribs, and they both were delicious! the ribs were tender, and the mac n cheese was a large portion! Since I only got two appetizers, the bill came out to about 12 bucks before tip: so reasonable!!! Overall, the experience was great, I only wish it was a lot busier! Definitely would go there again!

I only came here because I was across the street at the Black Sheep, but I have to say that this place isn’t somewhere I would normally venture into. That being said, the food was just«OK». The pizza was burnt and bland tasting(sort of expected), but the lobster mac n’ cheese actually made up for it. I had never seen lobster in macaroni before, so I had to try it, and I wasn’t disappointed! Huge portion for $ 10.95 was split 3 ways, and there was still some left. If I ever go to Black Sheep again, I’ll certainly return here.

For most people this place will seem very, very strange. Board games, card games, and Pokemon items everywhere. Ignore all of this(unless you’re into that stuff, in that case stop reading this and head over there) because the food that comes out of the kitchen is solid and very reasonably priced. My crew got the lobster mac & cheese for($ 5.95) and a few stuffed blue cheese burgers with homemade chips($ 6.95). For these prices you would expect some shotty eats, but that wasn’t the case. The burger was large, came with all of the fixins and had blue cheese oozing from the center. The lobstaaa mac was short on lobster(expected) but was made with a solid cheese base and was one of those dishes that people kept eating after they had already declared«I can’t eat another bite!» Give this quirky little place a try, especially if you’re saucin’ up next door. Note: They will deliver to the Black Sheep Ale House next door. Head over and order or call right from your bar stool.

I dined-in with a group of 5 total. The restaurant is, to my knowledge, the only dedicated gaming café in the New York Metropolitan area. Items on the menu are named after board and card games(My favorite pun being Ticket to Fries) and the salt and pepper shakers are a stack of casino chips and a pair of dice. There is a stack of relatively casual(but still great) games available for play in addition to the nightly learning games the restaurant promotes. The general consensus was that the food is great. Appetizers: The fall themed soup was unique and very tasty. The mussels were delectable and someone in our party raved about the wings. The lobster mac & cheese tasted fine but I wouldn’t order it as my main course. I had the Reuben Calzone as my entrée. It was a very inventive rendering of a Calzone and certainly something I’ve never tasted before. The Rye seeds on top at first raised my eyebrow but soon became delicious as I dug in. My dining mate described the ribs as being very tender and moist. The ribs were cooked properly as in the meat practically slips right off the bone. The espresso brownie bars were the perfect way to end the meal along with the chocolate twenty sided dice complete with dice tower(not chocolate but you can try eating it anyway) that come with the check. Our server was very helpful and friendly, and Dave the owner showed us a fun game to play while we were waiting for our food. The prices are VERY reasonable especially for food of this quality. My only complaints are that the tables are too small to play and eat at the same time and that the«tablecloths» are playing mats for an obscure Japanese trading card game. I appreciate the thought of the mats as they compliment the theme, however they looked a little corny, maybe they can be replaced by checker boards? The Game Master Grill is worth checking out if you like gourmet food at non gourmet prices, especially if you enjoy board and card games or are curious about them. FULLDISCLOSURE: I used to work part-time for one of the owner’s other businesses. We are no longer professionally affiliated.

We ordered takeout with a group of people. The chicken sandwich I had was nothing to write home about. The best part of my order was the potato croquets. My wife’s sandwich(Beef on Weck) was not as described on the menu, it was just roast beef on a bun and was missing the au jus, horseradish and ketchup that was supposed to be on it. When we called they seemed confused and said it was just supposed to be the beef on a bun. There was also a stray piece of some other food not related to our order in the container. It may be worth another try once they iron out some of these issues.
