Great bar to hang out with a group of friends or watch WI sports with everyone. The menu is nostalgic and fun, the bartender is always friendly and the selection of beers plentiful.

Good for groups of all ages. Eclectic crowd, great atmosphere. Drinks just OK — I had Rehorst and Tonic but something wasn’t quite right. Food was decent. Great selection of beers. Walls covered with HI-res TVs. No WI-FI. Wait staff very quick and friendly.

Found this bar a little empty on a Friday night but it had cold drinks and a nice bartender. Lots of tables, a couch area and a few games – including Wi which you are more than welcome to play! Weird thing that happened here… the bartender told my husband he wanted to show us how to play a dice game. When my husband lost, the bartender made him buy shots for the bartender. Maybe that’s a normal thing but I definitely had not encountered it before.

My boyfriend and I recently took a weekend trip to Milwaukee to get away from the windy city. It was our first time visiting, and we were definitely unclear of where to go and what to see and do We stumbled upon Zim’s, and felt completely at home. There we met the owner, Mike Zimmer, who happened to be bar tending. We found him to be super friendly and helpful, especially as he helped us plot out our next steps and dinner plans for the evening. He even taught us the game of bar dice, which apparently is a favorite among locals. We had a great time, and will certainly make it a point to stop in to Zim’s the next time we’re in town. We encourage all — both locals and outsiders — to do the same.

Y Fries? Y Not? Zim’s was running a shuttle to the Brewer’s game this past weekend, so my travel companion and I bought some Brewer’s shirts to blend in and headed over the Zim’s. We arrived around 4pm on Saturday for a 6:05 game. We knew the shuttles left at 4, 4:45 and 5:30 and since we can never seem to get enough Millers Lites, we decide to take the 5:30 shuttle. The bar itself is large and there weren’t that many people inside. So, we order some snacks, too many if you ask us, Y Fries, Mini Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Chicken Tenders. The sandwiches and the tenders were average, but came with really good fries, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. Now, the Y Fries on the other hand WERESOEFFINGGOOD, we should have had 2 orders. They were fried pita strips, with herbs and served with alouette cheese for spreading and dipping. It’s been days since I had some and it’s all I can think about. Long about 5:20 I said, get the tab and I’ll buzz out to the shuttle and hold it. Well, no need to hold — we were all getting on! We really made some new friends on the way to the game. The ride back was a little less crowded, maybe because we were some of the first people on, maybe because we’d been drinking for 6 plus hours?! Who knows? We got back and had a couple of beers in the bar. Overall, great service — never ran out of drinks, good food, and really nice people who patronize the place. If I’m in Milwaukee again, you can bet I’ll be there eating some Y Fries. Thanks for a great Brewer’s experience!

Zims is a great place to watch sports, drink, and get a bite. I’ve been there many times, often for the weekly food specials. Most of the food I’ve had there is on par or a little below standard bar food. The wings are good, and so are the sliders, but I’ve had some pizza there I regret ordering, and the tacos are pretty weak. They have great bloody marys. I still don’t understand why everyone things Wicked Hop bloodies are so great, I’m a bigger fan of the ones here. You can usually find the owner there, he and all of his staff are pretty nice and hard working people. Get there soon for big games, or reserve a table if they offer it. I’ve done that in the past and worked

I now think I FINALLY understand Zim’s… its popular when a Wisconsin team plays! I go to Zim’s every Sunday during NFL season because its an AWESOME bar for sports… so many TVs. Since I’m there so frequently, I’ve been able to assess the pattern. The bar is only crowded when there is a Wisconsin/Green Bay game on OR if the team has a strong Wisconsin connection(ex: Brett Favre). Now that I understand the pattern, I know how to use Zim’s to my benefit. It’s one of my staple bars with great service and decent food. I recommend the mini-burger appetizer or if you are feeling nostalgic… Spaghetti-Os with fancy hot dog.

We met some customers here before the Brewers game and it excellent. Great apps and exceptional service, always had buckets of beer in front of us… best of all they run a free shuttle to the game, and you can DRINKBEER on the bus that drops you off right in front of the stadium. After the game they pick up in front of the stadium and have a cooler of beer on the bus!!! We then had a bunch more beers after the game back at Zims. It was empty, but it was also the Tuesday night after Labor Day. Great/friendly place that I will return to for sure! Total — $ 0.00(for once I did not have to pick up the tab)

Solid sports bar. Nice interior, good service and plenty of TVs. Plus if it’s slow you are a short walk to lots of other bars.

Honestly, Zim’s blew me away. Certainly part of it was the locals and their exuberance from the brewers making it to the postseason for the first time in 26 years. But also, my bartender was not only a scholar, but a gentleman. According to my receipts, his name was Michael C. I don’t remember ever hearing this name, and there was lots of loud communication, but I can only assume that was my guy. I think I ended up getting something like 4 beers on the house while watching the Bears/Eagles game. Pretty refreshing considering the rivalry this afternoon. Honestly, I don’t think I could have ever spent this little in Chicago through the course of an entire football game. If you happen to make it to this place, do yourself a favor and get the fried cheese curds. They were DELICIOUS. Much of my family are Wisconsinites, so I know a thing or two about cheese curds. That being said, these were quite tasty. If I happen to make it back to Milwaukee, I definitely hope to make it back to Zim’s.
