Kind people, quick service and quality coffee! Great end to our Milwaukee visit! Plenty of seating, though some my find it congested but I was okay with it!

Summary: great coffee(seriously their coffee was not bitter/sour at all) great atmosphere for getting work done, and great location! Maybe my #1 coffee place in MKE, have to go back to get my 2nd feel for it. Loved this place! Went on a Saturday from noon to about 4:09 to get work done. The place was ideal for sitting and chatting with friends or getting work done. They’re window bar seats have lots of outlets and the free WiFi is there of course. Taking 1 star off bc they didn’t know the ingredients in their baked goods. As a sweets lover but also as someone allergic cinnamon, ingredients lists are crucial. –iced dark chocolate mocha: divine, esp if you’re a dark chocolate lover like me. I love that 75%+ cocoa bitterness, loved that they did it iced for me too. –cold brew: loved their cold brew, just your genuine coffee taste, no sourness or bitterness they take their coffee super serious Def would come back, would love it if they have a bigger coffee shop and maybe some savory hot foods/snacks.

Delightful. If I had to only use one place to describe this place, it would be delightful. I love the vibe Valentines emits with their massive windows inviting all of the natural light in. Then it’s easy to get distracted with all of the roast options they have. The barista was so kind in helping me select a good roast according to my preferences(and there were many options). The fact that they don’t serve drip coffee excited me knowing my coffee will be fresh. I don’t make pour over coffee myself at home, so it feels like a treat to have someone put that extra care into my coffee for me. I wish they had longer hours for those empty days where I’d rather hang around anywhere but my own place, but it’s still a nice place to go for work or catch up with another.

I just happened to move across the street to one of the best coffee roasters I’ve experienced. A couple times a week I can smell coffee roasting in the air by my apt. I prefer a full body, smooth coffee and really enjoy their Brazil and Guatemala. If you buy a bag of coffee you get a free 12 oz cup freshly brewed. Coffee is made as ordered via pour over. It takes an extra minute over pre-brewed, but tastes better. I highly recommend trying one of their roasts. The baristas are very knowledgable(some are also roasters) and will help make recommendations.

In my opinion, this is the best coffee offered in Milwaukee. The pour over technique brings the best flavor out of the coffee. The barista staff is friendly and informative. It’s worth every penny, and I can’t wait to try the Bering Sea Blend at home.

It’s really nice to be in Manhattan, and to get the type of coffee experience that just doesn’t happen elsewhere, such as in the small-town Midwest. Wait … this is Wisconsin … as in the Midwest? The state with all the cows? Flyover country? Nooooo! It can’t be! But, yes. Yes, it can be. A nice little New York type of coffee place(although 4 times the size and ¼th the noise level, and 42% fewer hipsters). No drip coffee served here, only pour-over, which is to drip coffee what the most-popular-chain coffee is to gas-station coffee.(And that is as close to a compliment that I’ll pay to that chain.) If you haven’t had pour-over and you’re a coffee fan, please try it. It’s much stronger, and has a «cleaner» feel to it. Kind of drinking from a glass as opposed to plastic, or a beer on tap vs. from a bottle. The place was actually quiet, unlike that chain that somehow manages to blast coffee-house music at 122 decibels. One could relax, work, and read here, rendering it an excellent coffee shop in the classic sense.

I loved the coffee, but on two separate visits we were given 8oz cups when we purchased 12oz cappuccinos. When I challenged this, they did make us a new cup each in the purchased size, but this was only because we brought this to their attention. On first visit I thought it was just the guy making the drinks, but it happened twice, several weeks apart. The service was good, other than the strange small-cup-switcheroo on both visits. The coffee is delicious, but the prices are on the higher end, so be prepared. I also felt they could have more bakery items, especially from a local bakery. Usually they have just one or maybe two small items near the counter, like a tiny little nut tart and just one or two on display. Coffee shops are all about the display of delicious items you want to drink with your coffee. This could easily pump them to 4 stars. Just bakery items, not sandwiches or anything too fancy. I agree with Katie S who notes the cold and clinical feel of the place. The chairs are metal and feel cheap and uncomfortable. Overall the place has a very metallic feel. I wish it could be my favorite place to relax for an afternoon and do some work. I really want to love this place, especially since the coffee is so good. I think they could make huge strides by getting some more comfortable furnishings, even getting wooden chairs or seat cushions I think would make a difference. I hope one of their goals is to move into wood chairs and tables instead of the inexpensive metal ones. The wall décor is already really cool, no need to change that.

Clean. Sleek. Sophisticated. That’s how I define the space at Valentine. With coffee roasted in-house, I am a big fan. Nothing complicated. Just great service and great coffee.

I tried Valentine Coffee for the first time when I was at Wine & Dine a little over a year ago. I’m upset it took me so long to stop by the actual café! I met a friend for a coffee to catch up Saturday morning, it was busy, but we were able to snag a table! I had the Soy Latte which is my recent go to at the coffee shop! Delish! The vibe is super casual and modern. I will be back for sure!

Great coffee with serious flavor. You won’t get the burnt/liqueur-like roast like some of those national chains that will remain unnamed. Rather, each roast has its own distinct flavor. I’m a French press guy who loves a flavorful, acidity, light or medium roast. The Costa Rican blend is outstanding. I won’t be obnoxious and give you my coffee tasting notes, but anyone who’s been over always enjoys drinking the stuff and will proceed to ask where it’s located. Outstanding stuff. Make sure to pick up a sausage roll as well.

The coffee at Valentines is great especially in a «pour over.» Bering Sea and Costa Rica are my favorites. The shop is quite clean and inviting. Big plus – the staff are engaging and helpful. Forget Star****s

WHYDOES A LARGECOFFEECOSTMOREPEROUNCE? I love this location and business on so many levels. Doing the Tosa Farmers Market, great store hours, great employees and delicious coffee. I love that when you buy a bag of beans you get a free cup of coffee or $ 2 toward a drink. The only thing I struggle with is the fact that a person ordering a large coffee pays more per ounce than the person buying a small sized coffee. I instead buy two small coffee’s because it is more bang for your buck by a long shot. The sad thing is fewer plastic lids would be wasted if they’d just make the large size’s cost per ounce the same, or as most stores do and make it cheaper. Typically the more you spend anywhere the better the deal as you’re investing more into them and they in turn reward you for getting so much, not try to charge you more. I’ve written them on this and got no response, so I thought I would post to give others a heads up if they want to save some $ and buy 3 smalls instead of 2 larges.

Excellent, friendly service. Even the locals were friendly!(Something we’re not used to being that we’re from Chicago). Excellent coffee. We only found out about this place because of our recent visit to a Bartolotta restaurant that served their coffee. Cortado was unlike any other we’ve tried. Will be returning for more!

It takes a darn good cup of coffee to get me to give 5 stars on the first go, but dang, Valentine Coffee Roasters delivers. I wanted to not drink my coffee to make it last longer, but I couldn’t help drinking it. It was just so delicious! The atmosphere is very clean and crisp. Seating isn’t cozy, aside from one padded chair along the wall. The seating is serious, much like the baristas are about making a darn good cup of coffee. I’ll be back, repeatedly.

You know how people who write bad reviews are like«I would give ZERO stars if I could»? Well, my review for Valentine is the opposite — I would give them ALL the stars if I could. And you know that’s a pretty serious thing when a person is not a coffee drinker. First, there is coffee. It is very good coffee served in a fancy, pour over style. My husband absolutely loves it and actively seeks out places that serve Valentine. So now you know about the coffee. What don’t you know? They do LOTS of other stuff. Good stuff. Stuff you should be partaking in RIGHTNOW. I’m talking about coffee infused cocktails(Dark N’ Stormy 4EVA). I’m talking about a really good albeit small wine and beer list. I’m talking about small plates. That’s right — they now have 100% locally sourced small plates. That means cheese and charcuterie plates. There’s something called«bread» which delivers a warm loaf of beer bread paired with bacon and onion jam. The jam is THE jam, friends. There’s something called«spreads» which involves smoked lentil spread from Story Hill BKC, pâté from Meritage and raw cheese spread from someone awesome(can’t remember) and a Rocket Baby baguette. You need these things in your life. So you get all of these delights, plus some of the friendliest and knowledgeable baristas in the city. Why not do a West Side progressive dinner night? Hit up Valentine for an app and creative coffee cocktail, grab some small plates at Meritage and finish up at Cold Spoons. DOIT. DOITNOW.

I got a free cup of coffee with my Unilocal check in. I got a Brazillian dark roast that the barista offered and I liked it a lot. It was strong and rich. The coffee paired well with the caramel cinnamon biscotti and almond horn pastries. Yes! I got two sweet treats. I couldn’t help myself. The almond horn is like a smaller version of an almond croissant. It was soft and flakey. The almond flavor was in every bite. The biscotti tasted really good when you dunk it in the coffee. I didn’t regret my decision. The café has a row of parking spots in the parking lot next to the building. The spots are reserved for their customers. I will definitely come back especially since it is close to the places I work. This is a great place for a good pick-me-up coffee.

I’ve never been to the actual location — but I have their coffee anytime I go for brunch at Blue’s Egg or Story Hill — and I’m totally obsessed with it. IT’S FANTASTIC! My mission this summer is to get here for a cup of Joe(or 6) :)

Valentine Coffee Roasters: nice folks that take their coffee pretty damn seriously. (Do you take your coffee seriously?) Good. You should. Coffee is serious business. Valentine’s in a somewhat«up and coming”/mostly residential area just outside ‘Tosa called Washington Heights, and while we all know«up and coming» neighborhoods may take years to actualize to their fullest potential(because Milwaukee), it’s businesses like Valentine that drive and expedite that process. Good on you, Valentine, and good for the Heights that this love story exists where it does.(… making Milwaukee better and more cohesive one strategically placed small business endeavor at a time!) Much like Kelly R and Joanna T, I appreciate the well-lit, minimal/sparse and clean interior. I also appreciate the coffee. Simply put, it’s good. Thoughtfully sourced and roasted, it’s approachable enough for the novice/casual drinker and nuanced enough for the Epicurean-focused nerd. I dig. I’m a pour-overer-at-homer myself so I also dig their being like-minded on the execution tip. I love that you get all the flavor without the viscosity from a pour over. It’s immersion and that makes sense to me, especially if you’re starting with a quality product. Bottom line: solid, drinkable coffee, folks who appreciate the craft, homegrown small business. Check ‘em out! The Heights are wicked cute and if you appreciate the *robust* coffee scene we have here in MKE(har har har), this is definitely a must-try/must-stop.

I’m obsessed. Just moved into the Heights last month and this is by far my favorite neighborhood spot so far. Let me get down to it: 1. The atmosphere is clean, simple, and modern — inviting. Simply put, this is place I want to be. 2. The staff here are extremely warm and friendly — and funny! I enjoy chatting and laughing with them every time I stop in, and I knew most all names in the first week. That’s a rare thing, but this is just that kind of place. «Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name…» 3. The coffee is NOJOKE. Pour-over is the method of choice here, and each cup is made with care. I’m on a Costa Rica kick, but every roast I’ve tried so far has been unique and rich. They know their coffees, too, and can give you great recommendations based on what you like. 4. DATLATTE. I have sampled the Vanilla Bean and the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt(made with Indulgence’s local chocolate) — and they’re simply heavenly. One of a kind, not too sweet, just the right amount of… everything. I can’t describe it; you’ll have to try for yourself. I can’t rave enough about this place. One visit and you’ll be a regular, too. *P.S. I bought the Valentine to-go mug for my morning coffee and I SWEAR it keeps things hot for 5 – 6 hours. Magic?! You get 10% off the already-reasonable prices every time with the mug, too! *P.P.S. If you work at Valentine and you’re reading this… I love you. Too soon? Too bad, I don’t take it back.
