The Hen House

Was walking to my car after leaving Central Café and noticed a hat shop. My husband and I walked in to the best find, we both really enjoy wearing hats (winter and summer). I can’t say enough about the service, everyone is genuinely friendly and attentive. They encourage you to try on anything you like and make helpful recommendations.
The store itself has original equipment from the 1800’s… for real! It’s amazing. The pricing is of value for the quality of their hats. I only bought one that day but I will go back for an extra splurge.
p. s. As if the store wasn’t fabulous on its own, an extra bonus they have the sweetest puppy named Betty who roams the store and greets everyone with kisses.

Went to dinner next door at Rivera Maya on a Wednesday night. Looked in the windows of the closed Hen House when heading back to the car. It was love at first sight! My husband and I returned on Friday afternoon to walk into a packed house. There were a lot of shoppers who were buying hats or having them sized to pick up at a later date. However, that didn’t detract from the service. With a staff of three there was never a feeling that you were being ignored. Even after I made my selections – one winter and one summer – they suggested I try on different hats so they could see how I looked in them based upon my hair style and coloring. It was delightful! They decided they wanted to stretch the winter hat for me, even though it seemed to fit fine. Kate was right; it felt better being a little bit larger. The summer one (raffia) I wanted a different band on and she was willing to change it for me right away. Probably pricier than I would have spent at a department store, but based upon the selection and service it was worth every penny. When we were leaving I told them I’d be back and they asked that I make sure my husband is with me because he is very funny. Glad they enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor! Would like to have my granddaughter’s 5^th birthday party here. Ladies, this place is magical! Walking out with a large hat box made me feel very special!

I went to the Hen House with a friend. My friend was picking up a hat that Hen House owner Kate designed and made for her. Kate greeted us when we arrived and brought out a beautiful patriotic hat she made for my friend.
I highly recommend Kate and the Hen House for all of your millinery needs. The selection is amazing. The quality is great. And the customer service can’t be beat.

I had only stopped in briefly here during Bay View Gallery Night last week.
Today, My husband and I went into to spend more time looking at the hats.
The staff were extremely helpful with suggestions what different styles of hats based on some things we wanted in a hat.
There were so many different hats, colors and styles — so much to take in!
We didn’t buy anything but we will for sure be back.

I took my Mom in to find a hat for her for Christmas. Mom is 78 years old and has a small head. Finding a hat for her is difficult, Kate was over the top amazing. Kate was so sweet to my Mom and helped her try on everything that fit her. Kate made my Mom feel pretty. She picked out two hats.

I was so excited to hear that the hen house was opening! It is a beautiful space filled with gorgeous hats and fascinators. My boyfriend ended up buying me one and I am so excited to wear it on nye! Check it out. It is a magical place!
