A neighborhood bar for really young drunk people in bay View. A typical yuppies bar but in this case it has a yard and is in a old house. dogs are welcomes and the place is pretty cool on the inside however the staff appeared to be on their phones more than serving and the beer tasted flat.

I usually love this bar with my friends. Went there on a Friday night… the outside bar wasn’t completely stocked, no problem. We went inside. That was the problem. That bartender NEVER waited on us. Wasn’t busy, he poured some shots and gave refills to the couple next to us but never even looked our way. A few guys came in and he started taking shots with them. Usually love the inside bar and playing board games But next time, I’ll save time and go next door to Boone and Crocket.

The Backyard bar has been many things from a scary bar back in the day(Chasers) and then an eco-friendly bar(Telluride) but I finally think this place has found its niche. The Backyard is very self explanatory… it is supposed to be like you are hanging out in your own backyard. They offer quite a variety of outdoor activities like bags, outdoor TV, grilling(bring your own spatula and food), and Thursday night movies. The added bonus is you can bring your dog just like home; however, the little pooches aren’t allowed inside the bar. The added bonus about the Backyard is that they have great happy hour specials that even run on the weekends. Having a beer here won’t break the bank and you can chill outside just like you were hangin’ in your own Backyard!

I super dig this completely and utterly down-to-earth spot on KK. It’s divey, sports-y, and outside-y. I’ve walked by so many times and hadn’t been in, so last week I made a point to change that. Takeaways? A solid selection of beers on tap, a bearskin rug on the ceiling, lots of tvs for sportsball watching, darts and other bar games and well, the patio.(That’s «the thing» about this place, and to clarify, it’s definitely more of a communal backyard than a patio.) Other things of note: +BYO-grill fodder, because they have some really nice grills you can just use, no big… awesome! +Dog-friendly, provided your dog isn’t a jerk dog. +comfy outdoor lounge-y seating Check it out! Get a group together and have a backyard BBQ at a bar!

Descriptive phrase: friendly dog bar. Now I went to The Backyard in the winter, so obviously I’ll have to check back in in the summer when the actual backyard is open. I’ll probably be waiting until then to return. We walked in and were greeted by a bunch of loud dogs off their leashes and«howdy-hos» from those at the bar. I’m fine with dogs, and found them cute, but beware if you’re not into others’ pooches that you’d probably be better staying away. Patrons and bartender were all very friendly and welcoming, which was great. Specials were decent. Their pool table was $ 1, and they had other games too. However, there isn’t much seating inside and the whole place kind of smelled like a dog had relieved themselves somewhere but it had gone uncleaned. It wasn’t overpowering, but ever-present. Like I said, I’ll return for the warmer months, but I was just kind of not into the inside space.

As I’m typing this, there is an amazing puppy party going on. Chill bar, great people, great bartender. The patio is amazing, bring your pup!

This is my go-to bar for one major reason: it’s a freaking backyard! Huge, lovely grassy expanse, with tons of seating and open space. It’s like a dog park but with booze. Super duper dog friendly, and my fur babies love it. And I love them, so this is often our bar of choice for happy hour. They have an OK beer selection with a few draft beers, full bar, happy hour specials, yadda… The big draw here is the grills that you can reserve for doing your own grilling and a big screen TV outdoors for watching the game, whatever that game might be. It’s a pretty fab set up. Clientele can be a little«bro» at times, but such is to be expected from a sporty bar. You won’t find any fancy cocktails or rare beers here, but it’s a great place to just relax with your pooch.

Dog friendly, spacious patio with ample seating, TVs inside and outside if you care about sports, amazing drink deals every day of the week, and a contender for Best Bloody Mary In Milwaukee, if you ask me. There’s not much to dislike here. There are also grills available for patrons to use: BYOM(eat). Worth noting that«dog friendly» is my first point, but I don’t have a dog. I just like hanging out with dogs and living vicariously through dog owners without taking on the expense and responsibility. So, if you’re a dog creeper like me, add The Backyard to your Bay View list.

An acquaintance(non-yelp and who shall remain nameless) referred to me recently as «refreshing». I was a little taken aback by that description because I reserve adjectives like that for say, a beer on a summer day after riding my bike to Bayview. Like, for example, the Lakefront Fixed Gear tap beer I had at the Backyard. So the inside: sporty, neighborly bar with games(pool, board games, etc.) T.V.‘s playing sports, specials hung on the walls, & somewhat inexplicably, a giant bear rug.(Really, a whole bear on the ceiling!) Very reasonably priced beer($ 4 for mine). What seemed like regulars made up a good deal of the clientele around the bar. The outside: ever so slightly SoBe-ish cabana meets Midwestern backyard. There’s a T.V. out back, lots of tables, and couches. There’s also a big grass yard(literally the kind you might remember from growing up), and lawn games. Also, A big draw it sounds like, are the pretty professional looking outdoor grills along the back wall for«byom»(bring your own meat) nights. Hey — we’re still catching up on BYOB in Wisconsin but we’ve got the bring your own brat/steak/burger down. There were rules posted about using them, & none were in use during our trip so I’m guessing theres only certain hours during which you can use them. Dogs are welcome on the patio but there were a list of rules posted(no aggressive dogs, etc.) Per usual, cats are probably not allowed. This was a cute little bar… I think every neighborhood should have a place with the communal grills/BYOM concept. Oh…and if the person who called me refreshing somehow finds this review and happens to read it — sorry, dude, I gotta get my material somewhere.

It’s a good time here. The bar has a big area outside for dogs, lawn games and for grilling. You can bring in any food you’d like and grill out on one of the three gas grills. Usually the game is on and there are several TVs including one outside. There’s a covered portion of the patio with nice seating and fire pit.

Went for the first time on a Saturday night. The drinks were good and the prices were reasonable. You can even bring your dog to the yard! How wicked cool is that? They have fire pits, yard games, tv and music outside for you. Wish all of the fire pits were working but they were fairly busy serving. We’ll be back!

Great Neighborhood Bar. Reasonable prices and great bartenders. Patio area is open and nice. The have a fire pit in the winter and summer. Comfy patio chairs. They also have a grill and an option to BYOM. Dog friendly as well. They also have an area supporting kids kompost. Awesome! Bartenders are welcoming to all of my coworkers and myself.

BYOM!!! How can you not like a place that let’s you bring your own meat and slap it on the grill. I mean bags, grilling out, fire pits, patio seating, and a great beer selection what more could you want in a place with such a comfy-cozy setting such as it’s namesake. I think the only thing missing is someone’s Uncle Remus hanging out by the bar. Any night of the week can make this place ideal for a fire pit centerpiece with great company and conversation. Not to mention they have great happy hours too.

Stopped in here for some post Hambingo drinks. I had been in here in the past before everything was remodeled. Wow, what a nice looking place. What others have said about the patio is true. It is really nice. On the night I was here a bunch of people were relaxing around the patio fire pit an playing bocci ball on the lawn. The bartender Joe did a great job of making us feel welcome and seemed to be very engaging with all the customers. Drink prices were about average with a stiff captain and coke running $ 7. They do have an internet jukebox but the Broncos Ravens game was on so I can’t comment on the sounds system. The only complaint I had was the mens room could use a really good cleaning and that cost it a star. I’ll be visiting this place again.

I stopped at The Backyard just by chance before attending another event. The bartender was really friendly and even came out to the back patio and chatted when it wasn’t busy inside. The back of the bar is fenced in and has a large patio with couches, chairs, and tables. It also has a grass area where a few of the patrons brought their dogs to run around. The happy hour was extremely affordable. The Backyard might be a nice place to stop in and check out.

The Backyard is owned by Sam, who is on my flag football team and is our teams sponsor. I really like the Backyard, here is what I like: great beer selection nice interior one of the best outdoor areas for a drinking establishment in Milwaukee Owner is a good guy that cares about his business and it’s image They provide grills and the supplies that you can use! What I would suggest to improve: better specials beer is a bit more expensive than other comparable bars nothing really for available eats All in all, I enjoy going to the Backyard and look forward to the next time!
