Something has changed drastically at Prodigal. And not in a good way. Our server didn’t greet us for ages, there was no interaction whatsoever. When it was time to order I asked if he just wanted drink orders or food and he said«whatever. Just start talking.» Our food took over an hour, and came out ice cold. No apologies, no updates. It may have been good when it was warm, but by the time it reached us, it was inedible. Also, none of the menu items from our first brunch are still there. I gave two stars because I had exceptional dining experiences there in the past. Hopefully prodigal gets back to their previous set up, and soon. UPDATE: Turns out that Jan 18th(the day we were there) was Prodigal’s last day of business. Pretty clear the wait staff and kitchen staff gave zero shits.

Even associating a single star to this«restaurant» hurts my heart. Stars are something you get when you’ve been good(or so I learned in kindergarten), and Prodigal was anything but good. The ambiance is the only positive aspect of this trip. On a beautiful, warm day I can see this place as being a lovely environment to sit and have some drinks. Very cool and unique interior design. The service was amazingly, unbelievably, shockingly bad. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time. just completely vanish. He only had 3 tables(5 people when we arrived), but that didn’t stop him from completely ignoring us for as for 20 minutes. We ordered at 10:20 and sat around patiently waiting until 11:15 for our food to show up(we ordered burgers, eggs, french toast, very simple order), and by the time it came the food was cold and flavorless. Even if the food had arrived at the appropriate temperature, it still would have had no flavor. Our french toast was cold toasted white bread with a gooey. jam like substance. Our burger was overcooked, bacon burnt, egg cold, absolutely horrible. Between our 11 person party, we ordered well over half the menu, not one person received a warm dish. Not one person received a dish that they were willing to eat. The tables around us looked equally displeased. A couple behind us had finished their food shortly after we sat down, and they were still waiting for their check when we left. Everyone was looking around for the waiter. The most annoying aspect of this experience was, even when business picked up(there were about 25 people in the«restaurant» when we left, the waiter had absolutely no sense of urgency. No apology for the cold food. No explanation for the piss poor service. Congratulations Prodigal, you have won the award for the worst meal I’ve had in Milwaukee. I hope you go out of business. Just in cause anyone from Prodigal management is reading. We were a party of 11 at 10AM January 18th… just in case you want to fire that waiter. Edit: It happened! They’re out of business! :-)

Exceptionally not good. Super slow and disengaged servers. Marginal food. Below average old fashioneds. Had the clams and pork belly which was cold by the time it got to the table. Date had salmon –undercooked, and not in a good way.

Tonight marked my second visit to Prodigal. I’m worried that Prodigal doesn’t posses enough flavor excellence or ambiance to sustain the test of time. The menu appears to incorporate many more«affordable» options that I recall from the first visit. For starters, the cocktail list was relatively long, yet bland. I ordered the truffle oil fries, fried chicken a greens. The fries were solid, though for $ 8 a bit on the pricey end. The fried chicken, greens and cornbread sounded like a steal for $ 13. While the most important element — the chicken — was quite tasty with an impressive crust, the greens were mediocre and the cornbread was just plain cold and hard. It was okay. Will I be back anytime soon? Likely not.

Prodigal, you’ll certainly do. This space has been transformed nicely from its previous bar/club into a lovely restaurant. We were sat quickly at a table on the sidewalk, even on a Sunday, and the service was pleasant, if not a little exasperated with us for some reason. The food was very very good. We had the burger and the shrimp and grits. The burger did need a little salt, but was otherwise tasty. The shrimp and grits was spot on. We also had beignets with apricot jam which were a delight and came out HOT! I take two issues, and they are certainly minor. The menu online was not the menu I was handed at the restaurant. Normally, this is fine, however, lately I’ve been having to be a little pickier about what I eat, so I had researched what I could and couldn’t eat on the menu before arriving and the thing I had decided on wasn’t on the menu. Humpf. Also, I have to comment on the name — doesn’t «prodigal» often mean wasteful? What are they trying to tell us?

We have now been to the Prodigal Gastropub 5 times and it has always been great. The menu changes with the seasons so the fall menu was just released and it looks terrific. I have had the rice and sausage and it deserved 5 stars. They also work around gluten problems. My wife always has a great meal and desert because the chef can make items gluten free. In my opinion the bar has one of the best whiskey menus in Milwaukee. Prices are reasonable.

I’ve gone to Prodigal for brunch a couple times now. The first time the was a better selection and I believe specials of the day. The second time the menu was much more limited, I mean $ 10 granola and oatmeal? I don’t think anyone I would have brunch with would order these things. Most things were $ 12 — $ 19 and I just think that’s way too much for small brunch items. I hope they reconsider the menu options and prices. Even a prosecco is $ 10 so I’d expect one can foresee dropping $ 40+ when it’s all said and done. That’s what I’d expect for dinner more so than Sunday brunch. My friend an I weren’t impressed by the menu or prices and walked out of there most recently. Nothing was exciting or a good value. All of the pictures I took were from my first visit. NONE of those items were available on my second visit. Since Prodigal was better the first time and a total disappointment the second, I’ll go with three stars for now and hope they can make some smart changes.

‘Twas a warm summer evening when I happened upon a new gastropub straddling the Third Ward and Walker’s Point. Historically, businesses have struggled in this location – it has been everything from a restaurant, to a club, to a store. However, nothing has really taken to this corner, slightly off the beaten path. The lack of waterfront views does not stop a cool, comforting breeze from wafting in through the three large garage style doors that completely open one side of the restaurant to the street. Playing in the space between indoor and outdoor dining, patrons sit at rustic, large, farm-style tables in a dimly lit and rugged interior. From the second I walked in, I wanted to get cozy and stay. The drink menu is extensive – inventive and creative seasonal craft cocktails take up two pages, accompanied by a wide ranging selection of whiskeys and bourbons. The wine list is small, but sufficient, and quite reasonably priced. We selected a bottle of rosé and settled in with the food menu. I have high expectations for any restaurant that has the audacity to use the term gastropub(while descriptive, I think the connotations of the word are a bit self-indulgent). Prodigal did deliver on this front. The menu was original, featuring seafood heavily and creative uses of strong ethnic flavors. The top half of the menu has shareable small plates, the bottom half – entrees. We stayed firmly rooted in the top half and enjoyed nibbles in the breeze. Blame it on the weather, but the stand out dish was the Panzanella salad. This salad delighted with fresh, lively, and bursting flavors. There was a delicate interplay between the playful textures of the crispy cucumbers, crunchy herbed croutons, and smooth and luscious basil/gruyère dressing. Next, we took the tostadas on the recommendation of the server. There was a healthy amount of mouth-watering salmon that melted with every bite, contrasting with the sharp bite of the spicy radish, and the satisfying crunch of the taro chip. Finally, we supported local business and our taste buds with the clock shadow creamery ricotta. The cheese was served with diverse palate – olive tapenade, marmalade, and salty sautéed spinach, accompanied with fried phyllo crisps. Each option was more intriguing than the next; it was a perfectly savory end to a meal. The service was not what one might call prompt, but this is not a place that you rush out of. I think they were smart to offer such a wonderful Groupon to get and keep clientele – $ 28 for $ 50. Even without the Groupon, this is one establishment that won’t break the bank. Fine food, fine drinks, fine locale: it’s a winner!

Going to give them the benefit of the doubt, knowing that I wish I could give 2.5 stars. I’ll give them 3, but it wasn’t really A-Ok, as 3 stars tend to indicate. The place: Part of the appeal of this place is the garage doors that open on nice days, so that people can sit outside. Those tables were all full when we came for our reservation — that we made for 7pm, but they let us move to 7:30. At 7:30, the place was so packed that they almost didn’t really have a place for us to sit — they brought us to the«Bourbon Room» — the back space, with a tv and a few large tables. Secluded from the rest of the restaurant. I could see the appeal in some situations, but in our situation, there was no appeal. Especially with a reservation… that granted we moved, but we didn’t have to… or they didn’t have to say we could. Anyway, so we’re in the back, kind of secluded, 25 minutes after seating us, they bring the bread… and a few minutes after that they bring plates and silverware. Our server was polite, and fine,…but in general service was slow.. I always try to remember all the cooking shows I watch and think about how intense those kitchens are and how easy it is to make simple mistakes… but considering I ordered RAW fish(tuna tartare), the burger my friend ordered was BARELY medium rare, and another friend also got fish… I’m not sure why it took almost an hour to receive our food. The taste: Actually, the food tasted pretty good. Maybe we were extra hungry, as it was 8:30 when we started eating, but the tuna tartare. while the consistency was not my favorite, it tasted good. There was a salty tapenade on top, and some veggies that I might not normally buy. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the dishes they got, so Prodigal has that going for them. My face: For the disorganization, they said they would put the bread($ 5) on the house, but when we got the bill, it was included. We had a $ 50 off Groupon, without which, dinner would have ran us $ 70 for 4 people(no drinks or dessert). Not unreasonable, but a little overpriced. Just a smidge. So they took the bread off the bill, and then it seems that they actually took an additional $ 15 off the bill… We weren’t sure if it was an error or what, but we were ready to leave, so we just tipped well and left. Would I go there for dinner again? Probably not. Brunch? Also, probably not. Would I go for a cocktail, sit outside, and maybe share a cheese plate with someone? I’d definitely consider it.

Oh Prodigal. You have such a nice space; I like the tall ceilings and even the trendy industrial chic vibe, if that’s what you’d call it. Your patio looked lovely, even on a rainy Tuesday night when nobody could enjoy it. But beyond that, I’m not sure I have any reason to ever come back and give you a second chance. Service last night was a little poky, but our server had more than his fair share of tables to cover. He was friendly but didn’t explain the menu until we asked. The menu is just one long list of all they’ve got — so we were guessing which plates were small plates and which were entrees. Some were more obvious than others. Beer and wine offerings + prices were meh; not great, not awful, not anything I’d return for. We ordered the panzanella, flat bread and poutine to share. –Panzanella: A tasty tomato-y salad. My favorite dish but would I spend $ 12 on it again? Nah. –Flat bread: It’s more like a crunchy thin pita topped with mostly arugula. Edible, but 2⁄2 would not order again. –Poutine: Just alright. Could’ve used something… salt? Flavor? Anything. Just something. Gummy worms? Put it on the poutine!( ) We used a $ 28 for $ 50 Groupon which lessened the blow of Prodigal’s mediocrity. I think if Prodigal knew what it wanted to be – fancy small plates? «New American» entrees? A mix of the two clearly marked on the menu? — it would give the restaurant more focus, and then, in turn, they could work on the food. If you’re charging 12 bones for a small plate that consists of grape tomatoes and croutons tossed in a sauce, it had better have a serious wow factor that I can’t replicate at home. Here’s hoping Prodigal improves its game, or that something more delicious moves into its place soon.

I live just a couple blocks from this place so have been to it several times. It’s just basically okay. It can be very pleasant when the garage doors are open and the weather is right. They just are trying to hard to be over cool, cuisine forward, hitting the note of every new fancy of the culinary crowd, and not being very successful at any of it. The food is okay. The service is barely okay. For instance, on my last visit, which happened to be their«Ramen bowl» night, we ordered a couple small plates, and when we had finished those, a Ramen bowl and one other simple entrée that was basically a tostada with some tuna. There was a nearly 30 minute wait for these. When I asked the scatterbrained and clearly undertrained waitress what was up, she said«it always takes that long» and walked away. And there’s just some things that are stupid. They have a ridiculous menu of overcomplicated drinks. I’m so sick of seeing garbage like«lychee nut infused saffron appletini with macerated cherry compote.» Wake up guys. The«craft cocktail» movement got crazy stupid and died a just death five years ago. I’d rather have a real drink made by a bartender then a «libation» «curated» by a «mixologist». I’m not out and out trashing this place. I wish I could give it 2.5 stars. It’s okay. But I wouldn’t go unless it was a beautiful evening and I wanted a place to sit outside.

I called a half hour before arriving with 11 adults and an infant, and the super polite hostess said setting up an outdoor table would be no problem. When we arrived everything was set up and we even had our own outdoor private courtyard! It was a gorgeous day along the waterfront in downtown Milwaukee! Many in our party enjoyed the Sunday Bloody Mary special. The drinks were made with Grey Goose vodka, and had amazing garnishes of beans, smoked bacon, olives, asparagus and cheese. They even came with a craft beer chaser. Awesome! The food was equally impressive, from the platter with chicken pâté, tiny dill pickles, duck roulette, and dried beef tenderloin strips. I had the biskets and gravy which was made with local Milwaukee craft beer(Spotted Cow), excellent aged Wisconsin cheddar and spicy local sausage. It was topped with thick cut bacon and two eggs. The biskets were made with jalapeño cheese and the dish was excellent! All of the other guests enjoyed their meals also. My cousin had the grits with shrimp which I tasted and it was excellent! Big, meaty prawns! Very friendly and attentive service. Nice place!

The garage doors were open wide on the beautiful morning, making me smile right away. As soon as I walked in, the bartenders invited me to sit at the bar while I waited for friends. They were attentive and chatty, which made me feel at ease rather than my usual awkwardness when in a restaurant alone. The smiley hostess talked hair tips with me while walking us to the table. I felt like I was hanging out at a friend’s. As Jessica O. said, the sangria was a nice surprise. Not overly sugary, it was refreshing for morning booze. I tried little bites of everyone’s dishes(this is why you brunch with fellow Unilocalers) and was happily surprised by the shrimp grits. I hate grits. They are… gritty. If I wanted to eat sand– well I just don’t want to eat sand! But these weren’t the typical texture I detest, with great flavor. My ramen was quite good; I was happy for the side of sriracha to add. I would have preferred more stuff in my ramen, but no real complaint here. The staff are enough to bring me back for a second visit. I’d like to get dinner or drinks here some night to experience another side of Prodigal.

Prodigal was not at all what I expected. The menu is reminiscent of Wolf Peach and Odd Duck but the interior reminded us of a Café Hollander or Café Centraal — very laid back with an open floor plan. It was a beautiful day, so they had the huge, garage-like doors open to let in the breeze. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. We ordered the blood orange mimosas — they were delicious, but we probably won’t order them again since they’re a bit pricey($ 9). As an appetizer we ordered the pineapple and yogurt, and it was fantastic and easily our favorite food. The pineapple chutney paired with the almond crumble and yogurt gave the dish a nice texture, and of course it tasted wonderful. I next ordered the asparagus salad. It was so-so. Extremely light, the dressing was almost flavorless. I expected a bit more flavor, although the poached egg was really good. My husband’s biscuits and gravy were divine — it was pretty much the best biscuits we have ever had. My vegetarian strata was okay, but, like the asparagus salad, it could have used more flavor — spices, not necessarily salt. I was a bit disappointed, to be honest. Our server, Ashleigh, was excellent — she is easily one of the best servers we have had in Milwaukee! Ask for her if you go to Prodigal. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Prodigal, but we spent a ton of money — $ 60 for brunch! So we will probably try their dinner next time.

Went back to try a couple of Spring menu items, the Tostada($ 9) and the Pulled Pork Sandwich($ 12). First of all, I noticed the menu received a complete overhaul from my last visit. It was pretty much cut in half, which is a smart business move. Cut the overhead and reduce waste. The new menu has no categories and the small plates are intermingled with the large entrees. Price doesn’t tell you the size of the portion. The Tostada was served as two large Taro chips topped with diced cooked salmon, spicy radish cut into small thin strips, mint and togarashi. I didn’t notice a mint flavor, but was pleased with the dish overall. The round Taro chips held up fairly well, or at least as well as a fried corn tortilla would if this was a standard tostada. A good app, but no wow factor and I didn’t think it was worth $ 9. The Pulled Pork Sandwich is served with house cut fries, which were slightly crisp and salted. They weren’t the best I’ve had but not the worst. The pulled pork was tender and generously applied. At times the thick multitude of strands resulted in a slightly dry and difficult to chew and swallow clump of meat. It was topped with tomatillo, piquillo peppers, and red onions, all complementing each other and enhancing the pork, but I felt there was still something missing. The focaccia bread was toasted and provided a nice crunchy contrast around the edges. This was a better value at $ 12. Overall, it was a good meal at a decent value, but I had much higher expectations after the brilliant Seafood Risotto and Rabbit Confit Pot Pie I had on my last visit. I still have faith in the chef, so I’ll go back again and try other dishes, but this visit disappointed me on execution. The bar was busy but the restaurant wasn’t. I’m guessing there were changes on the line in the kitchen since my last visit. We’ll see what happens when I make it back some day.

Gastropub. There’s a word that rubs me the wrong way. I mean, I know what it means and everything, but the phonetics of the word make me think of a pub thats’s food will give me indigestion. Gastro. As in gastrointestinal. Appetizing? Not so much. Fortunately Prodigal Gastopub does not give indigestion. In fact, it gives just the opposite – it makes tummies happy. I have visited Prodigal a number of times. Usually just for drinks, and if that’s all you’re in the mood for, they do an excellent job. They’ve got a nice selection of craft beers and they’re well-known for their cocktails. The first time I dined at Prodigal, though, was Valentine’s Day 2014. To my surprise, I checked the OpenTable app for restaurant availability on Valentine’s Day evening and saw that Prodigal had an opening. After visiting, it’s not so surprising as Prodigal is pretty huge and, when you consider the upstairs, they can seat many diners. Despite the availability of the full, regular menu, we chose the chef’s Valentine’s Day pre fixe menu. My wife and I started and finished with the same dishes: a salad and Mexican chocolate. We differed at the main entrée: she went with the short ribs and I went with the red snapper. It would have been hard to be more pleased. Everything was served expeditiously, precisely prepared(attractive), and delicious. While everything was great, what I’ll remember most is dessert. Not only did the smooth, cool chocolate have a hint of spice(ancho peppers maybe?), gelatinized tequila really made it spring to life. At first I could not tell where the tequila taste was coming from, but then I loaded a spoonful with these opaque little white balls that garnished the dish and popped them into my mouth. WOW! Holy smokes! I might as well have just downed a shot! Theses little jewels packed a LOT of tequila flavor! After that bite, I went back to mixing them up with with the chocolate. They tasted best that way. After paying our tab, we were having such a good time that we migrated to the bar to celebrate love with a few other Valentine couples. A few drinks, televised sports watching and a spirited debate with another fellow about what beer is better, Miller Lite or Bud Light(I took the Miller Lite position; both beers might not make a beer snob’s top 1,000 list, but I still say Miller Lite is better than Bud Light by a large margin) and we called it a night. Prodigal was a great place to spend a Valentine’s Day evening. I wouldn’t hesitate to make reservations now for 2015. Plus you know what? No indigestion. :)

We’ve enjoyed a couple of beers here prior to the festivals when Prodigal first opened, but we finally had our first dining experience at Prodigal Gastropub on Valentine“s Day. I love the space. Super high ceilings, great woodwork, nice lighting, cool old photos of Milwaukee and remnants of the former industrial space with hoists and large garage doors. This is a great place to take someone from outside of Milwaukee to show how yet another building in the city has been repurposed into a cool new space but holds on to its blue collar origins. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable and can make some pretty good looking classic cocktails. We are beer drinkers and they offer a really great selection of bottled and draught brews. For our Valentine’s Day dining, we chose to go with the prix fixe menu and made a great choice. The Chef is quite talented and put together some excellent flavor combinations. The cocktail/wine/beer pairings were a nice touch and it was nice to be able to take the beer pairing with my first course and wine with the next two. We started with a salad with asparagus and soft boiled eggs. I had short ribs and my husband had Red Snapper — both were excellent. But the real star of the night was the last course. The dessert of Mexican Chocolate, cayenne pepper and gelatinized tequila was soooo good! Putting those little jellied balls of tequila along with some spicy chocolate really woke up my taste buds. I look forward to going back to Prodigal Gastropub and trying more things off the menu. I have a good feeling that I won’t be disappointed.

A recent one day respite in our polar vortex allowed me the opportunity to venture out into the world again. Our trek included brunch at Prodigal. It was a wonderful experience. We began our meal with a Sazerac and a Pisco Sour from the extensive cocktail list. They were both well made and a great, boozy way to start our lazy afternoon. We ordered two items off the appetizer section of the menu and two entrees. APPETIZERS The first to arrive was the Charcuterie Platter. This platter included Wagyu Beef Jerky, Rabbit Rillettes, Duck Pâté’, Cornichons, Whole Grain Mustard, Quail Eggs and French Bread. The Jerky was great on its own and we made tasty little open faced sandwiches out of the other items. The Duck was our favorite. It had a silky texture and rich flavor that was fantastic with just a touch of the mustard. The rabbit was more rustic, with a coarse texture that made it a little harder to spread on the bread. I actually thought this was best on it’s own without any of the accompaniments. the next item delivered to our table was the Shrimp and Grits. I get to use my favorite oxymoron to describe this dish. Four HUGESHRIMP(get it???), were served over perfectly cooked Grits. Braised Kale, Roasted Tomatoes and an amazing Shrimp Bisque Sauce rounded out this dish. It was so good that I am salivating just thinking about it. ENTREES Diane had the Eggs Benedict. The Prodigal made this brunch classic different and interesting by using Capicolla instead of Canadian Bacon and a Pretzel Roll instead of an English Muffin. This dish came with a side of perfectly Roasted Baby Red Potatoes. I had the Ramen Bowl which included Grilled Pork Belly, Poached Egg, Spinach, Shiitake Mushroom, Pearl Onions, Cabbage and Noodles in a Rich Flavorful Chicken Broth. I am late to the Ramen craze, but after having this dish I understand its popularity. Warm, Spicy and Comforting it was literally Chicken Soup for the Soul. We were so full we decided against dessert, but next time I am trying the Pop Tart or Apple Galette. Service was prompt, friendly and informative. They are easily Wheelchair Accessible including a ramp to the bar and a Giant Men’s Room. I can’t wait to come back and try them for dinner or even just drinks after work. If Dinner is as good as our Brunch was, I will definitely bump them up to 5 Stars!!!

It’s a Battle of the Mule’s!!! MOSCOWMULE vs. KENTUCKYMULE Anyone who knows me knows that I’m typically not a fan of these cocktails however this place just took a simplistically fantastic drink to a whole new level. Perfectly balanced and extremely well made. Definitely sip and savor the night away at the bar and have one of these two libations crafted by Caleb or Doug as they are true connoisseurs of their craft. Friendly and attentive bar service will definitely keep this a top notch bar experience. Charcuterie, rabbit, duck confit, mussels, wagyu beef were just a few of the savoriest of savories on this particular night’s fancy. Let’s just say you won’t be disappointed. This place is phenomenal Milwaukee gem!!! Atmosphere, elegance and not an ounce of pretense – just the way Milwaukee should be. If there was ever a reason to go ALL out in Milwaukee… this it it!

New City, New GastroPub. FTR. Cha ching!!! Location: 5 out of 5(for me) I live in the 3rd ward. This place is at Pittsburgh and the river. Street parking is plentiful(even though I went on July 5) and there seems to be a steady flow of bus routes going to and fro. Décor: 5 out of 5 Awesome. They really went for the gusto here with the rural/farm look. Our waiter let us know that the proprietors actually went and found old barn wood to adorn the walls and to perhaps make the tables. I mean… it fits PERFECTLY with the old warehouse/industrial look that this area is known for. Each table has a slight curve in it, as if they served a function prior to being tables, and were decorated smartly with a small vase, pebbles, and alternating flora. The chalkboard proudly proclaims, «Welcome Home»(get it, Prodigal), and the bar area is smartly organized in the front of the dining area. Seating ranges from outdoor on the sidewalk, to «tween»(under the old garage doors) to «indoor» seating. When we went, the weather was perfect for outdoor seating. Customer Service: 4.5 out of 5 Robert really hit the spot. It’s clear that he had some experience in the restaurant industry, as he was proficient, efficient, and friendly. Absolutely no complaints here, and if he were in our old digs in Chicago, he could EASILY get a job at a 1 Michelin star restaurant, if not higher. The .5 star knock comes for familiarity of the menu. I get it — they’ve only been open for a few days, and the learning curve that he was going through was evident at times. Don’t let this stop you though… he was awesome. Truly. Selection of Food: 4 out of 5 Listen folks, this place is not going to overthrown Hinterland. No. No. No way. There’s a place and time for sweetbreads and brain. I mean, I enjoy a good thymus gland now and then, right? But look… Prodigal has it dialed in correctly. Make good food accessible to the masses: put things that people might recognize from beer and food(PBR and burger, anyone) juxtaposed with things that people may not know as well(signature drinks and say, duck confit flatbreads, let’s say) and you reach a happy medium where you attract the upper middle class without excluding the«quintessential» middle class. Throw in the reasonable pricing, and you really hit for the cycle. Quality of Food: 4.5 out of 5 For being open 3 days, PG really hit it out of the park. For funsies, the future wiffy and I split a few things: the fried chix lollipops, the saffron mussels, the duck confit flatbread, and the charcuterie. Fried chix was tender and fell off the bone, saffron mussels were in the top 5 all time, the star of the show of the confit flatbread were unequivocally the English peas, the mustard on the charcuterie plate was thebombdotcom. This place should have no problems at all attracting a loyal clientele that will allow them to flourish in the winter. Selection of Drinks: 4 out of 5 A dozen or so signature cocktails, a dozen or so draft beers, and maybe 2 dozen bottled beers. Don’t worry, they’ll get there. Their signature drinks include things like the Moscow Mule, the Wisco Old Fashioned, and a few others. Tap beers include MKE brewing company and a few others. Bottled beers span the gamut, including PBR, Miller High Life, and Duvel. Pricing: 4 out of 5 Bar snacks were no more than 8 bucks or so, appetizers were 12 at the high end, and most entrees were under 20. We split a few bar snacks and apps, and got the mussels, and spent maaaaybe 35 or 40 bucks on drinks. It was 120 out the door with tax and tip. I mean… it was sort of a celebratory dinner since we just moved to MKE, and I imagine that a more restrained nice night could set you back only 50 or 60 bucks. Like I said… this place isn’t going to overthrown Hinterland, but with the pricing… they may very well steal some customers. Overall: 4 out of 5 Really solid place. Worth a visit. Remember they just opened in early July. Tip for Proprietors: Invest in some Citronella or other small flying bug deterrents. Your location to the river will warrant that as the weather gets even warmer.
