If I could give negative stars I would. Bartender was rude and unwelcoming. Drinks were over priced, which I would have felt with if it was a friendly atmosphere… but it wasn’t. It felt like the bartender was ignoring us, and I honestly don’t know why. Another woman was there bartending who said she was new – she was a little better, but was very intoxicated. One of our drinks was made in a dirty glass with seeds floating in it(there was no fruit in the drink) – when we to the bartender; she didn’t remember making the drink to begin with. Over all, it was a horrible experience, which sucks because I just moved into the area and had high hopes for this bar to be my close to home regular bar.

My last stop for Fish Fry Lent 2014 was at McCarty Park. No real reason why I picked this place. Like any place, I try I have never been there before. I might have heard something about the place but I like it the best when it is fresh and new to me. I guess you would classify this place as a dive bar. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. I in fact love dive bars. It has its own parking lot, large bar area and a decent size table area. The kitchen is hidden in the corner section of the bar. The name says it is a sports bar too but it only had 2 TVs — one TV had one of those music stations on it and other had sports on it(LPGA golf tourney instead of the Brewers game). There is no hostess/host or waitress; just a bartender. There are about 9 — 4 top tables that surround 2 pool tables. And the only place that it had patrons was at the bar. It is decorated with mostly football memorabilia. Ordering takes place with the bartender and they have plenty of bar food choices from apps, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, wings, and of course Fish Fry. They only have one choice for Fish Fry — Cod. And only one way that it is prepared — Beer Battered and Deep Fried. And only offers two sides — Fries and Rye Bread. All for a great price of $ 8.50. Out of our group of 7, 5 ordered the fish fry. 1 had the wings — hot and 1 had the fish sandwich. My wife also ordered the bread mushrooms as an app. Since we had ordered with the bartender, we had ordered individually or as a couple so that is how the meal was served. Not a big deal because everything came out pretty close to the same time. Although we did order the mushrooms as an app it came out with our Fish Fry. The wings I was told were decent. The wings were pretty meaty but there version of hot was Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. The breaded mushrooms were your average frozen bread mushrooms. Nothing special but did the job. I just wish it came out before the fish fry was ready. Now onto the fish. You get 3 decent pieces of fish, a good amount of fries and rye bread. The only thing that was missing was cole slaw. I would have even taken store bought slaw to complete the meal. The fish was fried with a nice thin beer batter. Fries good and the rye bread was eh — okay. For $ 8.50 it is a decent deal. Service was okay but they aren’t set up to be a real Pub & Grill. What we did get was friendly and somewhat attentive but no one seemed to care after we had gotten our meals. Not a bad place to go if you don’t want to wait somewhere else, some strange looks by the regulars, and don’t mind what little service you do get.
