Let me just start by saying that this place really deserves 0 stars but the entertainment value of reading the reviews and the experience in general while in the establishment was worth a couple stars. Everything you read in the other 1 star reviews is spot on. The service is terrible, the staff is rude, and the food is sub-par. The one decent person in this place was the old man that cleared our plates after our meal. We were staying at the Hampton and after a long night of drinking we needed some food. The guy at the front desk told us there was only one place open at 230am and it was the sushi bar around the corner. Sushi didn’t really appeal to us so after some further prodding he mentioned George Webb. Greasy spoon was a little more where our heads and stomachs were at so we gave it a shot. We go in and sit at the counter directly in front of the computer where all of the orders are put in. After sitting for 15 minutes I ordered the chicken sandwich and got the bacon upgrade which was to be $ 1.25 according to the menu. When I got my bill(which you pay ANDTIP on before you get your food) I saw the charge for bacon was $ 2.50. I asked the guy what the deal was and he asked me if I only wanted one strip of bacon. So you are telling me the listed menu upcharge is for not enough bacon for the sandwich? At that point I was a bit frustrated about the needless wait and the stupid charge so I told him quite curtly that i didn’t want any bacon. After all 3 of our orders were in, the food came out frighteningly quickly. Like«is this food even cooked» quickly. Turns out it was cooked which just indicates that they have everything premade and waiting under a heating lamp. Gross. Needless to say I checked my sandwich for spit before digging in. The sandwich was meh. The fries were cold and completely unsalted. Also try not to be thirsty when you come here especially if you are a water drinker. He only asked one of us if we wanted a drink and when water was requested it was not received. At one point during the meal we joked to each other that we probably wouldn’t live to see the next day either from being shanked by one of the patrons or staff or from the inevitable food borne illness that we would acquire from consuming the food. I am happy to report that neither of those things came true. Bottom line, this place isn’t good, but in a pinch you might get a good story out of it.

This place would get zero starts if I could. So I understand it was 3 in the morning, but when you sit down and wait for 20 mins for someone to even say hello to you is pretty bad. The food must be good cause we had plenty of people to come here, but we just felt like we weren’t wanted. Sad experience and will never go again.

Extremely slow service. Restaurant wasn’t overly busy at the time. Food quality was acceptable, except for stale toast and one of the meals in our group was cold.

Had breakfast here twice during our five day stay in Milwaukee as our hotel was right across the street. The Double Webb is the way to go. Two pancakes, two eggs(any style) and two pieces of bacon(or sausage). A full meal to start your day right. The waitress service was attentive. On both days the place was less than half full, but the food took a long time to get to the table. I blame the kitchen. I had started to sip my THRID cup of coffee before the food was served on one occasion.

Stopped in for lunch today and I was literally the only customer in the place. 4 African American ladies working behind the counter, all talking and laughing with each other instead of working. I finally got greeted and placed my order. Another server dropped my plate in front of me and went back to the friend circle by the cash register. I needed a refill on my soda and some ketchup for my fries. I never received either, because I was never checked on; not even once. Instead, the girls were up front yelling their OOOHHEYGURL! NOYOUDIH-INT!, etc. Today is the first time I have ever stiffed a server in my life. I know it’s not a fancy place, but come on. I’ll never go back.

Great diner; fun morning crew; and clearly a great cook in the back. Hash was crispy and poached eggs done the way I asked for them. It’s a breakfast joint. Not the Tavern on the green.

Very mediocre food, but what can you expect when prices are so cheap? This place was WAY understaffed. No water with food, no silverware unless we asked for it. No napkins. Another table got up and left because service was taking so long. Our waitress did tell us the cheese curds weren’t worth it, which was nice. They advertise a lot of things(like free coffee refills), but then they have small print notes on restrictions. Waitress didn’t monitor tables in case we needed anything. Overall, if I was desperate for some chocolate chip pancakes at 4:00am and also super drunk, I might consider coming here — otherwise, I say avoid!

I will NOT be going back! My husband and I order 2 cod dinners and 1 appetizer basket(which comes with onion rings, mozzarella cheese sticks, corn dogs nuggets and cheese curds) when we got home we noticed we only had 3 of the corn dogs and 3 of the cheese curds which was small as the nail of my pinky finger. I was not about to waste gas to go across town to complain about it; on top of that the food was nasty I just know I will NEVER go to another George Webb EVER!

Racist treatment. This greasy spoon seemed cheap and causal, like dennys meets waffle house. I sat at the counter, in plain sight, for ten minutes, completely ignored… not even a hello or a glance. Five minutes later, two others sat beside me. I was the only causation of the three. In seconds they were served and taken well care of by an all African American waitstaff. Still I wasn’t attended. It’s inappropriate,(and illegal) to be set aside because of the color of my skin. Shame on you.

Just had breakfast with my family. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast. I asked for the steak medium and It came back well done. Okay that’s fine got the steak remade. Asked for the rest of the food back to eat, I started eating it and found a hair on my hashbrowns.(Was not my hair) I told them they can have this back because there is hair on the hashbrowns. Asked if I wanted it remade but I have no appetite anymore. I’ve been a restaurant manager for 6 years and I know my job is to make sure customers are happy when they leave and make sure they want to come back. I left unhappy and will not go back. So all in all I had to pay for a meal I didn’t eat.

I really cannot imagine eating here again, even if it were the last place on Earth. I stopped here with my girlfriends after Summerfest this past weekend, and it took about 30 – 40 minutes to get our food even though none of us had complicated orders. They also made us pre-pay for our food right when we ordered, which I thought was the oddest thing ever for a sit down restaurant. Maybe it’s because they are afraid people will dine-and-dash that late at night, but if that’s the case — maybe keep a better eye on your tables. We had to ask a man who worked there to refill our waters, and he huffed and puffed about it and as he refilled each glass(only half way I should add) he would slam them down on the table. Geez dude — chill out.

Went there very late(around 3am) since not many places are open that late in Milwaukee. A group of us ordered 3 burgers to go and that took about 40mins… not even kidding! Everyone there seems to be walking out of the club/bar so almost everyone is still wasted. While I was there a fight between a couple almost broke out inside the restaurant. No security around that place at all! When we finally got out food we left right away and just ate at the hotel. The burger meat was very dry and the bread was burned… thats probably why it took so long to get my food! Ughh! If you end up there one night just be prepared to wait!

Decent diner style breakfast. The Eye Opener special is cheap and to the point: kind of like the quick breakfast your mother made before pushing you out the door to school.

I’ve never stiffed a server on a tip in my life, until now. After a concert at Turner Hall a few blocks away, a group of us headed on over to the George Webb on 3rd. We’d have just gone to a bar, but one in our group was underage so that wasn’t an option. It took at least 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us and take our drink order. I think she was hoping we’d get frustrated and leave – she wasn’t really doing much… just sorta wandering around aimlessly, shuffling through plates, filling up a coffee cup here or there. Busy, she was not. She took our order while avoiding eye contact or any sense of politeness. One or two in our party did not want to order food – just water.(And remember, this is right after a concert let out. We’ve spent the night dancing and cheering – our throats are dry). She initially refused to serve them – at that point(from what I heard, I went to the bathroom after placing my order) a couple of us who did order food simply said they wanted a water with our soda and meals. At this point, another party of people from the concert that had come in at the same time had yet to be talked to by the waitress. Unacceptable. We got our food after a short wait, and were offered refills. At this point I thought the experience was turning around. Granted, this was after one of us had futility said«excuse me» to ask for a refill from the waitress standing two feet away, right next to the soda fountain, and was ignored. At this point – and I’m willing to grant this is probably annoying behavior on the part of a customer – one in our party wanted to place an order for some cheese fries. The waitress looks down at her feet and said«I already got yo’ table. You gon’ hafta wait one minute.» This was met with a bit of laughter on our part, I’ll admit. If I had been feeling more confrontational and it wasn’t after midnight, I’d have told him to move to another table and try again. My friend never did get his cheese fries. We finished up and got the hell out of there. At least after dark, avoid this place like the plague. There are better 24 hour diners in Milwaukee that will be a lot happier to take your money.

Worst restaurant experience I’ve ever faced, and probably poor timing on my part in general. Went here at about 2am, prime time for raging drunks. Severely understaffed. Only about 2 people upfront and a kitchen that seemed to be practically empty. Waited about 30 minutes at the register to get something to go with no acknowledgement from the staff, who just sort of walked around aimlessly and slow giving people their checks and menus. Finally got around to ordering. They were out of a ton of food, such as the buns for burgers, etc. Placed our order and left for a bit and our friends waited for the food. Over an hour passed and they were still there, so they told the cashier that we wanted a refund because it looked like we were never going to get our food. They hadn’t prepared it still, so they said come back in an hour or two and we’d get our refund. They signed the check. My friends passed the check to myself and I went back in at about 5 am to talk to the cashier. She said we were never guaranteed a refund and it was beyond her control. Arguments ensued of course, and she was little help. Don’t really know why she would even bother telling us to come back in if they were so set on not giving us a refund anyways. $ 30+ down the drain. Oh well. Maybe she pocketed it, but good for her. Can’t see what she has to live for anyways working at a dump like that. Horrible, horrible place. You should just starve instead of attempting to go here.

Cozy little diner with great comfort food and low prices. I had a long weekend in Milwaukee and needed something tasty on a Sunday afternoon. Most places in the area don’t open until 5pm, but George Webb is 24/7, so this was perfect. I had their cheese curds, corned beef hash, over easy eggs, toast and a root beer. I gotta tell ya, it seriously just hit the spot! Their corned beef is so tasty, just went perfect with everything. The bf also loved his salsa skillet. We were really full and happy all day! Just a tip for those who do carryout. They need to charge a credit card in advance if your carryout order is over a certain amount.(I can’t remember if it was over $ 20 or $ 25?) That was totally no problem for me, however, I can see it being a problem for someone who can only pay cash. Also, whomever charges the carryout order on their card has to be the same person who picks up the food.

This is a great place to eat on the cheap, with a decent breakfast menu. I ordered the meat lovers skillet, and was good. Coffee was less to be desired though, pretty weak stuff. The wheat cakes my GF had were very good as well. The Hyatt across the street was expensive so were glad we hit a nice greasy spoon diner. Prices were from 4 – 8 dollar range on breakfast and lunch entrees. As far as service goes, we had a great waitress, but you have to speak up to get there attention, they didn’t mind either. The place can get busy, and they have other tables to tend too.
