Came promptly on short notice, did the work well, was pleasant to deal with, and his charges were reasonable. We will certainly use him again.

I have found Jim Butler to be responsive, very competent, and reasonable in his charges. I’m very happy to have a reliable electrician who has done good work for me on two or three occasions, and I will certainly use him again when I need to.

I have hired Mr. James Butler on a half a dozen occasions to do jobs both large and small, and received first-​rate service at all times.
I typically prefer to bring a contractor into my home on a relatively small job just to get a sense of how reliable they are and if it’s a good fit. However, this time around was an exception as I was putting in a new bathroom. It was a gut to the studs rehab and Mr. Butler did a first rate job, and so I began to hire him for other duties.
Regarding the bathroom rehab, Mr. Butler came to me about an hour after he first arrived and told me that I was going to need an additional fuse box downstairs because I had simply run out of room. This of course is the typical thing that one runs into, «we can’t really tell you the price until we open up the wall, and then tell you what’s wrong».
But he was absolutely correct, and additionally, when he saw my crestfallen face he assured me that he would do his best to keep the price down, and he did.
Mr. Butler also works for the condo association that I manage, and I recommend him without reservation.
He is honest, does great work, is very respectful of your home and living space, and very clean. And even though he’s crazy busy, he always returns phone calls by the end of business next day at the latest.
Mr. Butler is a fine craftsman, an artist, and an honest, good-​natured gentleman who is a pleasure to do business with. He not only knows everything one might expect of a tradesman working with electricity, but he knows enough about building in general to make very good recommendations about lighting solutions, placement of fixtures, and the timing of when and how larger job should take place.

I called James M. Butler on behalf of a Cat Shelter for an electrical risk assessment and to verify that everything was in order and up to code.
Jimmy returned my call within 1hr, (Extra points for that) and was very helpful at finding a time that worked for both of us. Due to scheduling conflict, he was willing to come a Sunday (Extra points for that too)
Jimmy was *on time*, polite, professional, and took the time to check and re-​check everything.
Furthermore, even though I am not a licensed electrician, but as I worked for an major electrical company, I know a thing or two about what should be done, and what not.
A very simple way to find if someone is BS’ing you, is to ask questions where you know the answer. Every time I asked a question, Jimmy gave me the right answer and took the time to explain, and propose cost effective solutions. Jimmy passed the «test» with flying colors.
Jimmy *never-​ever* gave me a runaround, or even remotely tried to sell me something that was unnecessary, and that is called honesty, ethics and professionalism.
They also have a BBB Rating of A+, with ZERO complaints in the past 3 years.
James M. Butler is simply «Contracting as it should be», and I have now put this company on speed dial.
In few words or in a thousand: If you don’t hire James M. Butler Electric, you are medically insane.

Jimmy did a great job mounting two tv’s and relocating a few outlets to make sure that the final product was as clean as possible. Very trustworthy and honest, would recommend to anyone and plan to call him again for future needs.
