Place is really not that great. To their credit they do smoke their meat. Although its more like amateur night and friends, we are all guinea pigs. I don’t know if its canned but the sweet yams hands down best thing on the menu.

Nothing amazing. Decent BBQ. Guys are really friendly inside so don’t be afraid to tell him how spicy and/or mild you like your sauce. Plus is that they’re open til 9, which is really nice for a BBQ joint.

I came on a regular Saturday afternoon. Called, but phone was disconnected. Door had no sign stating an apology/reason for closing today or when they’ll reopen neither. Were they out for lunch too?

Service was great, the food was good. It definitley is NOT Texas style BBQ but still good. They didnt have some of the things on their menu which kinda sucked but the staff was real friendly.

Groupon brought me here. Oh my God, this awful food. First, they ran out of ribs when we got there so we ended up ordering two chicken«combo.» Second, the chicken is not a whole or half a chicken but pieces of cut off chicken. Third, the chicken was hard as heck, so it was most likely defrosted pieces. Fourth, it was cooked in a wok with BBQ sauce instead of being cooked in anything remotely resembling a BBQ cooking device. Finally, they should be sued for misleading advertising. There is neither Texas style or anything resembling BBQ other than the BBQ sauce in any of their food. $ 10 for $ 20 worth of food equals two orders of tough shredded chicken in BBQ sauced tossed on a wok… absolute awfulness. Avoid at all cost.

Even with a Groupon, it wasn’t worth wasting our time and money. This place is NOT a real BBQ joint. I was raised in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, so I know BBQ pretty well. First off, I can’t see where they would even have room for a smoker. The beans tasted like they were right out of a can, and the potato salad was definitely not homemade, either. The chicken was cut up into chunks and was not good white meat chicken. My husband’s brisket was a hunk of some kind of red meat… mostly gristle. We waited for literally 41 minutes for a take-out order. Ridiculous. There were only two customers in line ahead of us, and we still waited over 40 minutes. Décor is minimal, to say the least, as if the owner doesn’t even care. I’m actually really unhappy that Groupon works with this«restaurant.» I’m not a picky person, really. This is the only negative review I’ve ever written – created a new account just for this review. I just don’t want other people to waste their time and money here. I’m honestly shocked by some of the positive reviews and have to wonder if they were written by friends of the owner. Sad.

This place definitely needs some marketing help, but don’t let the menu pictures fool you. The food is actually really good + has generous portions. I’ve been using Unilocal for a long time, but this is my first review ever because this place was that good!

While not traditional Texas BBQ, it is good bbq for what you can get in California. I’d rather come here than Dickey’s, that’s for sure. I didn’t meet the owner, but I met the owner’s wife and daughter — very nice. Loved the catfish — nice and flavorful. At first I went, «Oh man, two small pieces?!» But those I-thought-they-were-small-pieces ended up stuffing me super full. I could barely finish the fries. I’d have loved to samplet their beef brisket, but they didn’t have any available. :/Hopefully the next time we show up, they will. Hubby said his bbq was fine — that’s always a good thing because if it was not fine, everyone would be hearing about it. He enjoyed the smokiness of the food. He said it had good flavor. Once we try the brisket, this may very well make it into our rotation for bbq.

So surprised with some of the low star reviews. We ordered a 2 Items combo and 1 item combo and both were very good. As for the smoking flavor, we tasted it while enjoying the combos. In fact, the owner cane in to check on the smoked meat in process as he was slammed with lots of customers on Saturday. The chicken was moist and like the fact it was boneless and cut into bite size slices. The hot links(think it’s not handmade) was great with their house BBQ sauce. The pork ribs were soft, tender and moist with a smokey flavor and aroma. The BBQ sauce was slightly sweet, not vinegary, but thick and beautifully colored. We give it a thumbs up. Green salad was dark greens with a tomato half. I appreciate the green salad was not iceberg lettuce. Iceberg is so cheap to us. So dark greens is a little upgrade. The beans were just OK. It tasted more like pork n beans rather then BBQ beans, but still paired with the meal. Tomato rice was similar to Vietnamese tomato rice but with southern seasoning. As in my other reviews, I’m really sensitive to salt taste and it was a little heavy handed that day. Steak fries were golden on the outside, fluffy on inside. yummy. We aren’t experts in regional BBQ style like Memphis, St Louis, etc. All we know is it was very good to us. We didn’t have old, flavorless sauce, dried meats as some local BBQ places. Also glad we didn’t get a piece of white sandwich bread… that’s so common in other BBQ places as a filler. We look forward to coming back to try other items like sweet potatoes, Mac n cheese, beef brisket, specialty cornbread, tropical salad and more. We don’t recall dessert but if it’s there .we will try that too. So to everyone out there, support this new business, as the other BBQ place in MILPITAS is overpriced, under flavored, tasteless and mediocre customer service.

We came here because of a groupon deal. The food was mediocre. Chicken: dry, bbq sauce was not good Ribs: ok Macaroni: very bland, no seasoning, KFC’s is way better Tomato rice: bland Fries: best thing on the menu Definitely not coming back.

As a Texan I am offended with the use of the name Texas to describe the food here. Second the word BBQ should not be used to describe the food here. That leave Style and well there is none here as well. This was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had leading me to log in an warn others. Eat at your own risk as we are now on bathroom duty,

After my previous Unilocal review one of the co-owners Fritz graciously offered me 2 free combo plates for any inconveniences. When my wife goes to pick up the food the other co-owner Will denies her! Will tells my wife that she has to come back yet another day because Fritz wasn’t there that day! Even after my wife shows Will the email Fritz sent us inviting us back he still denies my wife! We’ve had enough Texas Style BBQ hospitality to last a life time. Thanks but no thanks.

either someone is getting paid to put up good reviews or they have never tasted good bbq. #1 it is not smoked. TRUSTMEWHEN I SAYTHIS. up to you to discover it yourself. people must be crazy or stupid to think this is smoked. put up some pictures to prove this because my order was not. #2 Mac n Cheese — just awful. mushy and not good. for some reason, I taste heavy ginger. Good owner but not good enough BBQ. Sorry, but I won’t be back.

Its a new business in this location. They were in New Park mall before. Just decided to try out a place for our new food Friday adventure and found this place. Nice and clean. The owner Will was helping us out. He was very friendly. We got smoked ribs and smoked hot links. Both were delicious. There was an option for spicy or regular bbq sauce but we tried the spicy. I usually don’t like bbq sauce but it was good. And it is his own bbq sauce as well. Some of the sides were made from scratch. The mac and cheese was a good combination of cheese and pasta with great flavor. The potato salad was excellent. Will also gave us a small side of his sweet yams to try, and they were slow cooked to perfection! This place hasn’t had there official grand opening yet, but we will be coming back to try new items that are going to be added to the menu!

I ate here last month with the hubby, my sis and her bf. I actually suggested a different bbq place, but my sis insisted she wanted to try this place… I should’ve known better when I saw the food seemed to have been sitting for awhile. The veggies looked like they came from a can or a frozen bag. The salad looked a bit wilted. At least the french fries were served fresh and yams were good. I had the bbq chicken and the hubby had the ribs. They were just ok. Let’s just say, we had to do a «bbq do-over» so went to our usual spot for bbq(Smoking pig). May be it was an off night, but we won’t be going back. p. s. sis took me aside later in the night and apologize for the restaurant choice.

I came to this place on opening day with a few friends. I tried the ribs, lobster, fries, and corn. Yes, I was THAT hungry. The ribs were delicious and the meat TENDER. I never had lobster with BBQ flavoring before but it too was tasty, gave it a different twist. There have different sides you can try. I only tried the fries and corn. The fries came out fresh and crispy, just the way I like it. The portions were big, I had to sit there for a while and recover from food coma. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. We had our little dispute about the best football team but it was fun bantering with him. All in good humor. He offered to clean our table when my friends and I were done eating and packed my friends left overs for her. The location is very convenient and easy to find. There is plenty of parking. The food, delicious. The service, great! I will definitely come back and try the hot links, sweet potatoes, cornbread and probably everything else on the menu in due time. If you like bbq, you should definitely give this place a try.

Apparently they just opened their doors yesterday! I came across this place when heading to Sydney Beauty salon. The words that pulled me in was«Texas Style” — I haven’t had any before so i am not a good judge for such a specific type of bbq, but i can definitely attest to goood taste! I ended up trying the Ribs with sides of Sweet potatoes and potato salad. The potato salad was alright, but the sweet potato side was really good; not too sweet. I was going to give a 3.5, but there’s something going on with the sauce that the ribs came in that bumps them up. I got medium spicy-it was sweet, tangy, and had a unique quality to it– seems like there is fruit in it! I would definitely come again. I’m glad they’re local! Located in a plaza that doesn’t get much traffic, but if their cornbread is good too(haven’t tried it yet), i’m sold!
