this place is under new management and is now called Thuy Anh. I drove past this place on a daily basis and decided to pop in. I came around 2:00PM and of course do not expect to see any customers at this, which is fine. However, the minute I came in with my son, the guy behind the cashier step away into the kitchen as if he was hiding. We stood around for 3 minutes and he was no where to be found. I wonder if he notice if we were even there. We end up walked out and there is absolutely no way I can see myself coming back. I just noticed something: all the reviews with 2 stars and above are prior to 2012. The changed owner quite often. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the 3 stars are written by their friends or family members. Trust me, you do not want to take step into this joint. I wonder if they are still in business???

I think they changed the name to Thuy Anh Sandwiches, if not I’ve been checking into the wrong place! The workers are nice and this place is a really small spot. Definitely a to go place. They have items already cooked for lunch, but when I came in there at 3 there were only a few items left so I’m not really sure what they offer. I’ve tried the shrimp spring roll and the cajun shrimp. Both were good, the food tastes freshly made and the ingredients seem fresh. The Cajun shrimp was not a’s good a’s boiling crab or crawdaddy, but decent and the shrimp tasted fresh and they were huge! I think it just didn’t tast a’s good a’s other places because the skin was not soft enough so it didn’t absorb that much of the flavor/sauce. Anyways I ordered the shrimp to go and they gave me a whole lemon(uncut) to go with it Hahahaha I thought that was cute and funny.

Delicious sandwiches! Their service is great and they are very friendly. Call in advance to order their shrimp and they will most likely have it ready once you get through the door. The only problem is that it’s a little out of the way and hard to find. Definitely stop by if you want some cheap authentic Vietnamese food.

Cost: Cheap Service: Very friendly Food: Good I’ve come here 3 times now, and all three times, the service was excellent. The gentleman at the register is very friendly and he wears a glove when making my sandwich which is a nice touch. I always order a sandwich with pâté(have requested different meats). Cost extra 25 cents. Bread is chewy and warm, fillings(veggies, pickled items, meat) are all generous. All the sandwiches are good. Got the spring rolls as well. Standard peanut sauce with shrimp and pork rolls. A-OK. Not worth going out of your way for, but will stop by again when in the area.

As Lam stated, it’s now Thuy Anh Sandwiches, but they don’t sell just sandwiches. Judging from their relatively new move-in and time to adjust to a new place and some new customers, they seem to be handling everything pretty well. On the walls they have a great selection from macchiatos and espressos to their unique dish of Louisiana Styled Fried Rice and fried shrimp — can be either party trays or smaller versions, which is what we ordered. Seeing as how tiring cooking can get when you have to nearly every night, we started requesting they save some of the course selections sold during lunchtime so we could pick it up after work — unfortunately, they don’t sell food in the metal trays in the evening, but the upside is FINALLY being able to compliment the meals, and most of them turn out more than satisfactory. Their BBQ Chicken sandwiches are not as salty as other places but still keeps flavor, and they have a special type of mayo they use-my mom’s favorite! The worker is also friendly and suggested we try the fried rice and sandwiches, which hasn’t been doing us any wrong so far. Good find, good prices, good food.

Got two banh mi, the #1(grilled pork) and #3(ham and pâté). They weren’t that good. The rolls didn’t taste fresh; they were on the hard side. The pork tasted OK, but sandwich was pretty skimpily filled for both meat and veggies(see pic). The ham and pâté was better and had a nice dollop of pâté in it, but again the veggies were lacking. They also put some soy sauce on the sandwich but it collected at the«hinge» of the bread so bites on that side were very, very salty Maybe the crayfish and other dishes are better.

there seemed to be another management change(2nd) — lunch time, it used to be bustling… lady spoke viet to another customer, I spoke viet to her, she responded in english(confused). $ 2.75 for a sandwich for a plain #2 sandwich, elsewhere it’s $ 1.75 — $ 2.50(it’s a ba le sandwich). I waited, another lady finished the sandwich prep and set it in the bag(to go) without letting me know until I asked. sandwich was ok… next time I’ll skip over to Da Kao on Abel that’s much more personable, reasonable price & overall great homestyle taste in their abundant food variety(few blocks Northbound).

Cannot beat a $ 2.75 sandwhich on a fresh roll. Cilantro, green peppers and some bbq’ed pork is the way to go(#1). Tips for an additional zing to your sauce — 1.Get a sauce tray 2. Mix 1 part Hoisen 3. 2 parts soy sauce 4. 1 part Sirachi 5. ½ –1 part spicy garlic red sauce in the tin Drizzle on your sub and head out the door. Young Coconut is also very good for you and served there!

I just had their BBQ pork sandwich a few days ago, and it was damn goood! I really love the flavor n the texture of it. My friend had a Steam Pork sandwich, and she also said that its delicious as well. The restaurant surprisngly serve a lot of Vietnamese foood, and they even have Phở, beef stew and obviously crayfish. I tried all of them already. Their Phở’s flavor is tasty n u can tell that they dont put MNR at alllll! Also, compared to other famous Phở place, its compatible toooo… n u dont have to wait in line to get in just to eat 1 bowl of Phở. Their crayfish’s sauce is exactly my flavor toooo… I love it so much! But I would love to have the size of the crayfish a little bigger. They’re jsut opening so I guess they need time to improve but a lot of potential. Service is realll friendly tooo and it gives a comfortable family feeling in it! I’ll give it 4 stars =]…definitely come back more often.

Checked out this place while walking along Abel St. in Milpitas. Although the restaurant name doesn’t reveal it as an Asian locale, the restaurant serves mainly Vietnamese entrees. Currently the menu is a little sparse, but I believe it’s because they recently opened. The have around eight to ten Banh Mi sandwich options($ 2.75 each). They also serve beef stew with noodles, beef stew with bread, grilled pork with vermicelli, egg rolls and packaged spring-rolls, smoothies and chilled drinks, and two specialized crayfish dishes. This is basically their entire menu at the current moment. Ordered the grilled pork sandwich and it came out very well. Their bread tastes fresh and they put plenty of pork and condiments inside. I unfortunately did not get to check out some of the other menu options, but the service was extremely friendly and I’m looking forward to coming back and checking out their crayfish dishes.

This place is located in a plaza off of Great Mall Parkway. It just opened a few days ago, and although there’s limited items I see a lot of potential. The owner is trying to make the best blend of craw fish seasoning — tasty and spicy. Look for the big guy, Andy, he’s the owner’s nephew and will probably hook it up for you if you’re cool with him. Aesthetic-wise it’s pretty plain but I’m sure the owner is up to any suggestions. They also rent out the chiropractic practice next door, so if you’ve become a repeat customer you may get a deal with their massages and back work.
