I am a biryani enthusiast. I’ve had biryani at several Bay Area restaurants including Shalimar, Chutney, biryani bowl, Sakoon and more. However; none of them had ever come close to Biryani available back home in India. I must say that Avadh lamb Biryani at Asana is flavorful, spiced right with tender generous pieces of lamb. One detail that I like is extremely dark caramelized onions. That just takes me back home. I was impressed to see those dark caramelized onions in the biryani. Thanks and will see you soon to try the Chicken Biryani and Goat Biryani.

3.5 stars but rounding off to 4 for their great service and pretty good food! We came in for dinner last night as a group of 4 and as we were a little early, the place was quite empty. We were immediately seated. We were served with a complimentary appetizer of aloo tikki and pappad with 3 chutneys. They tasted really good. and made our expectations high about the food we were about to have. The menu is quite vast. Here is what we ordered: * Chicken momos — Nepali chicken dumplings with a side of sauce. The chicken dumplings were just ok. I would have liked it to be a bit more flavorful. * Mixed grill — It was an assortment of tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, boti kebab, seekh kebab and reshmi Kebab — This was the star of the table. With the mint and tamarind chutneys, the kebabs tasted absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend this if you are in a large group. * Chicken tikka masala — This was a great accompaniment to the breads we ordered. The sauce tasted good. * Naan — We ordered one of Aloo Paratha, Butter naan and Kabuli naan. Kabuli naan is stuffed with coconut, raisins and cashews. It became a little too sweet to my liking and instantly regretted my decision. But the butter naan was great and went really well with the chicken tikka masala. My friend also ordered the raita for aloo paratha which was pretty good. * My husband ordered the non-veg thali which consisted of butter chicken, chicken curry, rogan josh(lamb curry), dal, raita, white rice, fish pakora, gulab jamun and garlic naan. Since he is allergic to sea food, we had the fish pakora replaced with chicken lollipop. * Strawberry lassi — Super tasty and had the right consistency. Now coming to the service, it was quite good. The waiters were very friendly and always had a smile which is not a common sight in Indian restaurants. They have some good options for vegetarians too. They also have a Unilocal check-in offer for a free bottle of house wine if you spend more than $ 75. Our check came around $ 90 and were told we couldn’t avail the free offer because we ordered the thali. Oops! But since this wasn’t told to us before we started, they gave us the wine anyway! So the Unilocal offer stands good only if you order more than $ 75 excluding the thali and taxes! I have also been to their weekday lunch buffet previously. The buffet has a good spread. But make sure you get in early on weekdays since it can get very crowded and parking also can be a hassle. Overall, we had a good experience and will come back if in the area.

It’s an experience. It’s got a lot of choices. But the food as such is very bad. 2 stars for the good service and a drink with the buffet.

Had the spicy basa(catfish) skillet and it was amazing. I’ve never sweated that much while enjoying a spicy meal… definitely at the upper end of my threshold, but not like the experiences I’ve had at Thai restaurants with ‘Thai spicy,’ which just blow your top off without being flavorful. This was loaded with flavor. Generous portion, and the leftovers, which I ate cold so as not to stink up the breakroom, were definitely more mellow but equally tasty. The wine was a tad overpriced and served to the brim in a short glass, which doesn’t capture the aromas of the wine. Overall good experience and would return.

My husband and I went here for our First Anniversary. The ambiance is really nice. But the service is horrible. The delay in even getting the appetizers is pretty long. We asked for second naan for the table and by the time it got back to us, the dishes had gone cold. Food is okay, not that great for its price range. I have tasted better Indian food. I am okay if i have to wait for good quality food but if i have to compromise on that then it spoils the mood. The lighting is nice for evenings and it dulls the entire restaurant and you can enjoy a private meal. So if you cannot point a difference between authentic Indian food then you may please come here. Else dont. Restrooms are always dirty.

Lunch is worth the money for a buffet. It comes out to around $ 20 per person for lunch on weekends and $ 15 per person for lunch on weekdays after tax and tip, which is awesome given the endless curry. I have a huge thing for butter chicken and the somewhat vegetarian version of butter chicken(which I believe is called mattar paneer masala). Yummmm. Dinner gets very pricey for the amount that they give(a tiny little bowl of curry per serving). The food is still tasty though, and I would still come for dinner if I were too lazy to go somewhere else that was cheaper.

I went here with three other people for the buffet lunch. They charged us an 18% gratuity fee for a party of four and changed the receipt to 6 people! What a rip off! They then claimed their machine was broken and refused to change it. I will never be back again.

Aasna is currently my favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay. It amazes me how many mediocre Indian restaurants there are here — but Aasna is definitely a step above them! Service is always good and friendly, and prices are decent. Samosas are good(not mind blowing, but I’m picky when it comes to samosas), malai kofta was very tasty, garlic naan was solid, and chana masala is solid. Service is attentive. Prices are reasonable. Recommended.

Omg, is this my go-to place for Indian(buffet) food?! I think so! The ambience of this place is classy, but definately suitable for the casually-dressed. My friend and I came here for lunch, and of course, with this place being located near a business area, tons of employees drop in for lunch here… luckily we came in good timing and was able to be seated in less than 2 minutes… Customer service here is SUPERB… from the front of the house to the servers, every single one of them was very friendly… they never let our waters go empty and frequently(but not overbearingly) asked us if we needed anything else… The day we went, there were 7 vegetarian dishes, and I think 4 others that were not… everything i put on my plate was delicious… I went back twice… I have no idea what the names of the dishes were, well most of them with the exception of a couple, but i can tell you it was very good haha… –Tandoori chicken, the chicken biriyani, sauteed veggie dish, and the tofu, were all very good… my fave dish was the sea bass in yellow curry… something like that… man, was that good… I had a bunch of other stuff on my plate, but these are all that I could remember haha… They serve you complimentary naan as well, which is always good soaking up all those sauces The price for lunch isn’t all that bad either, especially since it’s all you can eat… with tax, it’s $ 14.90… Yes, I’ll be back here… it’s only a matter of when :)

Great vegetarian food. Something that I had expected not to expect from an Indian place here. For starters, you get free papads and 3 chutneys. Crunchy enough! For the main course, we ordered Garlic naan, kadhai panner and lamb biryani. The garlic naan and kadhai paneer were the best I have had here in the bay area. So 5 stars for that. The lamb biryani was disappointing for my husband. It was cooked well, but there wasn’t any salt in it. Really? It is such a bad thing to not have salt in your dish! Highly recommend kadhai panner to anyone reading this. You won’t be disappointed!

Wow, definitely a lot of variety and a crowd of people because the place is so big. Parking is pretty hard to find because it is in Milpitas square. We arrived at 11:50 and got seated right away. We got a little bit of everything to try and then the lines started to get very long. A couple of our favorites were the fried potato balls, paneer marsala(?), and fish curry. I also liked how they had mixed fruit. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because I’m used to the bold, strong flavors and Aasna was a bit more mild in flavors. I also wish they had more meat dishes, the meat variety seemed to be very lacking.

Arrived here, thrilled about the Groupon deal I discovered, and left unappeased. Ugh. No expectations, no disappointments – but due to the glowing reviews, we were really expecting a hefty load of gratifying flavors. + Chicken MoMo $ 7.95, per my fiancé, as it is a popular dumpling from Nepal. Unfortunately, we both agreed that the flavors were rather ’ straight out of the package’ subpar. + Tandoori Chicken Half $ 9.95: Their allegedly«All Time Favorite» bone-in, marinated overnight chicken was as dry and tasteless as the side of garlic naan that we also ordered. Same exact letdown as the aforementioned dish. + Rojan Josh $ 14.95: This dish was borderline acceptable because of the generous pieces of lamb, that also came with equally generous pieces of… bone. The curry wasn’t as fragrant and full-flavored as it ought to be. Service was adequate. To me, the venue had an unnecessary elegance. In the end, we won’t be back, even though we received another coupon deal from our server, after our dinner.
