Filling of the dumplings is good, but is ruined by the dough. The dough isn’t cooked or crispy enough. Spring rolls good, crab rangoons average.

I love this place, go here with my boyfriend every Friday. I like the dan-dan noodles the best and also my boyfriend love the beef rice bowl. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who have tried Chinese food and want to try more, and who haven’t try Chinese food before. This is definitely the place you want to come and I am looking forward to try some other different things like soup dumpling(I heard is very very delicious). Oh! Almost forgot to mention that they have 1000 flavor of ice cream and fro-yo. You should come!

I’ve been to Star Dumplings several times at this point(including when it was Dumpling Girl), and it’s one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. There are very few places around to get actual dumplings and pork buns, and this quite easily satisfies the craving. The BBQ pork buns are delicious, the dough is sweet and the pork is tender and flavorful. This is my absolute go-to dish. I tried the crab rangoons for the first time a week or two ago. The rangoons were crispy, sweet, and fresh. Their duck sauce is unique compared to a lot of the local«Chinese» places around — tastes very much like fruit, which is nice. The pork rice bowl with pineapple is delicious, everything tastes amazingly fresh and no need for any sort of sauce to top it. I also love the pork & chive dumplings. The chive is just enough that you can taste it but it does not overpower the pork in any way. The bubble tea is also a huge bonus — good selection of flavors to choose from. Milk tea is one of my favorite beverages, so I almost always get the milk tea bubble tea. I’ve never had a bad experience with the service staff at all — the owner is a very sweet lady; really helpful when it comes to recommending their best dishes. One of the people who work there also helped my boyfriend carry food out to the car, which was really nice and they didn’t have to do that. I will say one negative thing: the ramen isn’t the best. The broth is strong, flavorful, and delicious, but everything else seemed very boring. Not sure if it was just an off day, but I would not get the ramen again. Everything else I’ve tried from Star Dumplings has been out of this world, but I’ll head out towards Boston if I want ramen. If you could give half-points on Unilocal,I would, because this is a very, very minor thing. They’re a dumpling shop, not a ramen shop. I will continue to go to Star Dumplings for the foreseeable future.

I’ve been here twice in the past couple of weeks. My family and I are very pleased with the food and especially the staff. We literally tried to order everything on the menu and left with a lot of leftovers to bring home. We ordered the Dan Dan Mein, Beijing Meat Noodles, Glazed Chicken Rice, couple of dumpling dishes, pork bun, and a couple other side dishes. All were very good and authentic Chinese type of food. My kids had some ice cream too which they had a very large selection to choose from. I think we will plan to come here often.

I really liked it here. I tried 2 types of dumplings. The beef and cilantro and Hot oil Dumplings. I will be going back to try some of their noodles. Very authentic. Generally, I do not like Chinese food because it is greasy. My dumplings were fresh and not greasy.

A 5 because 1. It is spacious and it is clean, 2. the service is AWESOME(a very friendly greeting, help with menu selection, a pleasant conversation while waiting), 3. good tasting food(this is not top of the line), 4. good prices 5. good selection 6. food is prepared quickly Would I go back? YES and I have Would I recommend? YES and I have There is a sourpuss review on here which I would question its validity. All I can say is that if you are in the area, and you are hungry stop in and give it a try. You are the best judge for yourself. I keep going back to try more things on the menu ;)

Had lunch there today. I had Ramon noodles with pork. The wife had fried rice, chicken and cabbage dumplings and we also had beef buns. Wow what a fantastic lunch. I asked to have my soup made spicy which they did perfectly. Bill came to $ 30 including two drinks. And we had leftovers to take home. Can’t wait to try more dumplings.

No need to go into Boston for basic dumplings, buns, noodles and other dumpling house fare. Although ordered from a menu and not a cart, these are the real thing. We tried pan seared vegetable dumplings, cilantro beef dumplings, steamed roasted BBQ pork buns and Dan Dan Mien. All fabulous. Staff super friendly, dining room clean and bright.

Almost a cafeteria atmosphere. The single wait person on staff right now is very friendly and helpful. They have tables next to power outlets and wifi. The green tea flavored bubble tea is good. The soup that comes with lunch special L2 is like egg drop soup with ground beef, and lots of cilantro. The noodles are essentially spaghetti, with cucumber, scallions, and ground beef in a sauce that… I think it’s fish sauce plus something sweet. The portions are fairly large. I like it!

Our new favorite place in town! We were a little skeptical going in because the menu items were unfamiliar to us, but the hostess explained everything with a smile and we tried the pan seared pork dumplings, scallion lo mein and spicy chicken rice bowl. We devoured almost everything. I kept eating although I was full because the flavors were so addicting. Wonderful ginger sauce at the table. We took the last bits home for later. Will definitely be coming back in a regular basis– I know I’ll be having cravings. A big step up from the usual Chinese fare that you can find anywhere. All I can say is the food is great, the place is spotlessly clean and the staff are so friendly. Do yourself a favor and try something new!

Since moving back to Worcester from the Bay Area, my husband and I have made several visits to Star Dumplings. We have been more than pleased with both our take-out and dining-in experiences. The staff has remembered us with every visit, and they make every effort to ensure we have a wonderful, delicious meal. For example, when my husband was picking up a take-out order after work and was running late, they called to make sure they could keep it from getting cold. It’s quite easy to gorge yourself on dishes like steamed pork and chive dumplings, or cilantro beef dumplings. I look forward to coming back and bringing friends!

My husband and I heard about this place from a friend who said it served more«authentic» Chinese cuisine. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday and the place was empty, but a few takeout orders came in while we were there. The food was incredible, very fresh-tasting. We ordered shrimp dumplings, spring rolls, crab rangoon, pork and cabbage rolls and some«beef and egg drop soup,» I can’t remember the name. Everything came out piping hot and we enjoyed sharing it all between us. We thought it was a good deal, $ 22 for the two of us to have lunch. It’s a bit off the beaten path for us but I’d definitely go again sometime.

So tried this place due to the hubbub about the original name. The dumplings were very good. Wife and daughter from Guangzhou so they can be fairly critical. The pork and chives steamed dumpling was very good, daughter actually had me get another order but asked that they be fried. Fried pork dumpling we got was good. Hostess didn’t think skin would stand up to frying but it did. We got the Dan Dan mean noodles and they were good. Wife and daughter split a noodle soup and thought it was good, but they preferred the Phở place we go to in Worcester for noodles they said. Service was okay, you order at the counter and then they deliver to table. Not sure how that will be received by people. Especially for Central Mass, I do not think you could do better and certainly worth coming down from Worcester for. Chinese food in the Worcester area really is not great.

Tried it on a recommendation from family. It was terrible. The chicken wings were raw. Sent them back but they insisted on a second order. After a little squabbling we took them but they never made it home. Trashed. The host was very nice and apologetic. Oh we’ll never eating there again.

Star Dumplings is a bit better than your average small town Chinese takeout, but that’s about it. On a recent visit I tried the pork dumplings with Sezchuan chili oil, Dan Dan Mien, and pork belly bao. The dumplings were not spicy at all, despite being advertised as such and even for non spicy dumplings were not very flavorful. The texture was off too, possibly from spending too much time in a steam tray. The Dan Dan Mien, which I assumed was akin to Dan Dan Noodles, was also not spicy at all, despite being advertised that way as well. Still, the flavors weren’t bad, kind of peanutty, and there was a lot of pork. Unlike the dumplings, I’d eat this again. The bao were actually pretty good, but that could be because I really like pork belly. All the food was a bit too sweet for my tastes, but its pretty cheap. I’d advise them not to cater to the tastes of suburban Central MA Chinese takeout consumers, who seem to like sweet glop. We have plenty of that, but there aren’t any dumpling places or very many Chinese restaurants that serve properly spicy food. I can’t be the only person who wants that.

Star Dumpling(formerly called Dumpling girl) is amazing!!! I would HIGHLY recommend it. My girlfriend and I stumbled across it one day when we were in the mood for dumplings, and we’ve gone back about once per week to satisfy our cravings. To be fair, we’ve only tried the dumplings and buns, but, like I said, they are amazing. Each dumpling has a unique dough — and a unique filling depending on the type of dumpling. There are about 9 different types of dumplings, and 5 different types of buns not counting the specials. You can tell that each dumpling(and bun) was very well thought out, and they are all come out piping hot and freshly made. These are NOT the usual Goyoza that you can order at any Asian restaurant — these dumplings are really spectacular. The best selling dumpling is the pork and napa cabbage pan seared dumpling. I would highly recommend this. I’d also recommend the Sichuan hot oil chicken dumpling, too. These are pretty mild actually, and I’d ask for the homemade hot sauce to accompany this!(you can ask the owner and she’ll gladly give you some!). Overall, the prices are very affordable(you get 6 – 8 dumplings depending on type of dumpling for $ 6). The owner has been there each time we come and she is extremely kind. It’s clear that she is devoted to her restaurant and wants to make your experience positive.

Been in town for awhile finally gave it a try because of the good review, got the chicken dumpling seared, chicken rice bowl, and spring rolls. Everything was cooked well and the establishment appeared really clean. The dumplings were great along with the spring rolls. The chicken in the rice bowl was very dry, otherwise would have gotten 5 stars. Great alternative to the American Traditional Chinese food you find in the area. Strongly recommend if you want to try something different.

First off, I just want to say, I could care less whether or not these people are ripping off Dumpling Daughter in Weston. I am sure the recipes are not the same. My review is strictly about the food!!! I have only ever ordered to go. My food was ready for pick up in 10 to 15 minutes! Which I find fantastic! We had dumplings and buns, of many different varieties. All of them were delicious and very flavorful! We cannot wait to go back and try more things on the menu!

Just not good food! The Beijing MeatSauce Noodle is made with spaghetti noodles and«meat» that has the consistency of firm tofu. Pork belly buns were okay, but the meat was dry. Chicken ramen was very blah. Broth tasted like water that had previously boiled a single chicken, and it had broccoli and tomatoes in it. WTF?! Oh and the crab Rangoon comes with apple sauce in place of duck sauce. Overall just skip this place. It’s not cheap and you’ll leave disappointed. They’ll be out of business by spring.

I just wanted to write a quick update. This new GEM is my new go-to for lunch on my own, dinner out and dinner to go. I just got the chicken ramen and brought it home. Absolutely delicious. Drama from the media — I could care less — the other restaurant in question is from an entirely different part of the state and I would never end up there from here, never heard of it. I know that I am GRATEFUL for such a fine choice in our LOCAL restaurant scene.

I was excited to try the new Chinese restaurant in town, as my family is from Taiwan. Unfortunately, I hated Dumpling Girl. The food and service was poor, and I would not go again. Food: — Dumplings are my favorite food and given the name, we had to try the dumplings. The pork and chive dumplings tasted strange, and the skin was too thick. I prefer the dumplings from the Chinese supermarket. — Beef roll ups are a common Taiwanese dish, and these did not hit the mark. The beef was tough and flavorless, and again the dough was heavy. — The pork ramen was decent, thick and flavorful. I later learned they supposedly copied the menu and recipes from another restaurant, I couldn’t believe they had the same name and description!(see photo) Service: — We went for lunch and service was unusually slow, despite not having many people. Our waitress was busy on her phone and was rude when it came to ordering. They should treat their customers and fellow restaurants better if they want to stay in business in Millbury.

Literally want to try everything on the menu. I’ve been here twice and tried the ramen and pork dumplings, both were top notch. I’ve nibbled off my friends’ plate — Dan Dan noodles, Shanghai buns, and they were both superb as well. I would definitely recommend all of these dishes. So far it’s 5 stars for 4⁄4 dishes. Even though it’s a Chinese restaurant, they don’t serve the typical insipid Americanized Chinese food. They’re food is authentic without being intimidating. The prices are super reasonable for the quality and size of the dishes as well. This place is set up as casual dining, where you order at the counter and with a number on your table, they’ll bring the food to you. This place apparently just opened up which is news to me, I’m glad I came across it when I did. Best of luck to you!

I went to Dumpling Girl and had eat dinner. I found the menu, the name and everything about it to be a direct rip-off of Dumpling Daughter. Everything was the same except the food. The dumplings were not as good as the original and the flavor and ingredients did not seem as fresh. Perhaps, they didn’t quite get the recipes done before they quit working at the Dumpling Daughter in Weston and opened up their knock off. Who knows but either way, if you are looking for Dumplings go to Weston where the original was started.

This is flavorful, fresh and authentic Chinese food — you can’t ask for a better compliment to the area. Friendly people, fast service and a large dining area, I can’t wait to go back! Be sure to try the yeo winter melon drink in the cooler. This place is SOIMPORTANT to our community — we don’t have places to get real Chinese. You have to drive SO far away, out of the county even to experience this kind of diversity. I hope people support this little gem!

The incredible reviews for this place are spot on– Dumpling Girl has the best dumplings and buns I’ve had here in the states. Fresh, authentic, delicious– I love this place. Highest recommendations on everything I’ve tried so far– the buns, which are an Asian delicacy are steamed and then pan seared and filled with amazing ingredients like Beef, BBQ pork– try them all. They are perfect with a soft top and a crisp bottom. The dumplings are a specialty and they are equally good. So far I’ve tried the Pork and Cabbage, The Steamed Pork and Chive, the Chicken and Nappa Cabbage and the Mixed Vegetables– all high marks. Steamed they are in a soft dough shell, while pan seared is exactly what it sounds like which gives them a nice light crispness. The dipping sauces are exceptional as well. The Cucumber Salad is a lightly pickled pile of cucumbers and a perfect appetizer on a warm day or a nice taste break between courses. The restaurant itself is big and wide open, with plates available to grab yourself. Dim Sum style dining is designed to be shared family style, so grab a plate and some chopsticks and some friends and experience the variety. I love the winter melon tea in the cooler. It’s light and fresh with just a hint of melon cake to it. This is a great place– there is no excuse to eat the packaged food at the nearby sub shop, this is great Asian cooking at it’s finest with a big open kitchen showing you they have nothing to hide. If I weren’t leaving for two months in Japan I would eat here everyday. I’m looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. They also have Free WiFi. Great place. Great food, great people.

I finally had the chance to try this place after driving by it for the last month. I was very excited about a different and new restaurant coming to downtown Millbury. My go to for a late dinner has been the Subway across the street and you can’t get much different from a sub sandwich than a dumpling. To begin, I arrived around 730PM for a late dinner. I was with my reluctant 12 year old who counts Subway as one of her favorite places to eat. Thus my delay in trying the Dumpling Girl. The entrance brings you immediately into the main dining area with a remarkably tall ceiling. The interior has a fresh, new and clean look to it. Very quiet and any sound louder than a whisper seemed to echo. Orders are placed at the counter in front of you. You pay, take a number plaque for your table and the food is brought to you as it is ready. No table service. The young woman who took our order was very pleasant and helpful with suggestions. One thing I learned from her was you are better off looking at the menus that are located at the cash register on the counter than trying to read it off the menu board. The letters on the menu board are small, it’s not a complete representation of the menu and there is very little description. We ordered the WonTon soup which was very good. A pork Ramen Noodle bowl which was a huge bowl containing enough food for 2 people. An order of 6 steamed pork/chive dumplings which was served with a dipping sauce I think was ginger teriyaki. Very good! All of the food came out super hot and as ordered. You have to get your own plates, flatware and napkins. Siracha sauce and other condiments are available. A pleasant woman brought us all of our food. I’m guessing she was the kitchen manager by what a saw her doing in the open kitchen. She later brought us a small plate of breaded and fried chicken wings because she saw that my daughter wasn’t really enjoying the food or experience as much as I was. I had to try one. They were really good. My daughter loved them. Pros: food, staff, price of food for quality and quantity. Clean and new Cons: cavern like dining room, could have used some background music? I can’t wait to return!

New little place nearby and my husband and I were eager to try it. We are fans of Asian cuisine and are always looking for something new. I had the pork belly buns. Very tender pork with a delicious sauce. Also had cilantro and crunchy cucumber in it. Fantastic! I also got brown butter miso noodles. It’s didn’t look extravagant but boy what flavor! We also shared sausage fried rice. It had sliced tiny sausage, fried egg, and a sight sweetness with raisins and pineapple. My husband enjoyed some chicken dumplings and fantastic pork ramen soup. His soup had huge chunks of pork belly, scallions and a hard boiled halved egg. He told me the broth was excellent and homemade ramen noodles. Great food, friendly service, unique casual dining. Go there! We are definitely going back!
