Salon Elle

Elle has been cutting and highlighting my hair for a while now, and she is so incredibly talented! I lovingly call her the Jackson Pollock of hair coloring, because she throws that color around like a committed artist, and, the first time it happens, you are a little concerned at how it’s going to come out, but then she dries your hair, and her artistry is so, so obvious. The color is always incredibly natural and perfectly adapted to what my hair needs. Her hair cutting is edgy, and precise, this woman must have been born with those scissors in her hands! But Elle also knows how to listen, and clearly wants to get a real sense of what you would like so that you leave very happy with how your hair looks. To top it all off, the atmosphere in the salon is relaxed, and the stylists are always joking together, so you come out of there looking great, and having had a good laugh, as well. Amazing experience!

I can always count on a good cut when I go to Salon Elle. The salon is well maintained and full of fun energy. Their clients span decades, and the stylists are friendly and knowledgeable. They are so hospitable, too! I’ve referred friends to the salon, and they’re now repeat customers as well.

My wife has been going to Salon Elle for years, and I’ve spent quite a bit of time there with her. Elle, Kiki and the other stylists are exceptionally good at their craft given their repeat clientele, and I can tell you as someone who couldn’t imagine his wife being any hotter that Elle and her fellow stylists always enhance her look even more, and consistently. The salon is super-​clean, and it doesn’t hurt that the staff is very easy on the eyes. ;)

I have been going to Torrie Grosjean of Salon Elle for about 5 years now and for good reason. Torrie is a magician when it comes to color. She is the kind of hair stylist you can put your trust into and whatever she does comes out looking better than anything you could’ve ever imagined or expected. I will go to an appointment thinking I know what I want or like, but Torrie knows exactly what is on trend and what will make me look stunning. I have never left an appointment with Torrie feeling disappointed nor will I ever see another stylist on a regular basis. If Torrie were to become unavailable, I would likely grow out my hair as an alternative, because no other stylist can provide the beautiful, natural-​looking highlight + lowlight combination that Torrie does. Torrie is an expert at her craft. It’s not often that you will find a hair stylist who you can say, «Do what YOU think will look good» to, and it is a complete success, every time. Torrie Grosjean is the epitome of hair color and cutting at its finest, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone young, fun, stylish, and super good at hair!

I have been going to Salon Elle since January of 2014. This is a classy salon with an Owner that understands her business and is good at it. Elle, the owner, colors & cuts my hair. She consults with me on everything regarding my hair. She is simply the best. Elle and Her entire staff are professional yet fun, talented & willing to be creative when you wish, and always technically great at color & cut. The Salon itself is also a plus, contemporary & comfortable. Also, the location in Mill Valley, is super convenient with lots of available parking with other shopping & restaurants close by.

Elle is an absolute gem! She is super switched on, efficient and listens to what you need! My hair is perfect now thanks to her extensive hair cutting experience and attention to detail. The best part is she is so fun and bubbly, it’s like hanging out with a girlfriend while you get you hair done! Love the vibrant energy and feel very welcomed every time I visit. Thanks love.

Cheryl at Salon Elle is amazing, and she is far and away the best stylist I have ever found for highlights. Before finding Cheryl, I went through a lot of stylists and would end up going home and fixing a bad highlight job, since I know a bit about hair myself. I am so grateful I found Cheryl. Blond highlights are not easy to do well, if you want a lot of shading & multiple colors (high & low lights) blended correctly throughout. Cheryl has this mastered. I am shamelessly picky & she really listens & delivers. She has been doing my hair now for more than 10 years, so I figured it was high time I Unilocaled. I even followed her to her current salon in Mill Valley, even though it’s a bit of a drive from SF, where I first starting seeing her. After having kids, my natural color got a lot of gray in it, and she made that transition easy for me too… no nasty lines and bad grow outs, thanks to her masterful blending. Only good things to say! Cheryl is the best.

Elle is an expert at cutting hair for men. She’s up to date with the latest trends and always listens to your requests, even if she may not agree. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a haircut in Marin.
Tip: Make sure to book in advance, she’s always swamped.

We moved here from overseas & it’s always risky trying somewhere new… but luckily, thanks to a recommendation, I found a great spot! Salon Elle — & Elle herself manages it all — she combines great cuts & colour & she is completely up to date on what is going on in the industry which is comforting! Elle listens to you & makes sure she understands what you want but she is also honest in that she’ll tell you whether both you & your hair can pull it off. She doesn’t want you to be disappointed & stands by her work, so communication is a big part of who she is & her professional integrity. Sometimes it is hard to reconcile our vision with the reality of genetics! But Elle gets it all & works hard to make sure her clients are not just satisfied, but feel great & walk away happy for the entire time between cuts. Highly recommend her.

Went to Salon Elle after reading all the great reviews. Ending up getting a hair cut with the owner, which made me think I would be getting an amazing cut. She was very direct and honest with me when discussing my hair, and encouraged me to try something else than what I requested. I am trying to grow out my hair, but she explained to me that the style I wanted was not ideal for doing so. I appreciated her candor, but was not impressed with the cut. It hasn’t grown out very well, and just looks blah. Not awful but definitely nothing special. Overall, slightly disappointed.

I have been using Elle for over 5 years and would go to noone else. She does great work and is extremely personable. I always look forward to getting a great haircut and having great conversation. Highly recommended.

I’ll be in next week for a cut, can’t wait. It’s so nice to relax knowing I’m going to look like a STAR after. SALON ELLE ROCKS! *****

Don’t know quite where I would be without Elle of Salon Elle. She’s been cutting my hair for about 9 years and has been a great find. It’s not easy for guys to find a place to get a stylish haircut in an environment that’s not overly feminine. But, Salon Elle meets that need. I always enjoy my time at Salon Elle because it’s a fun place to hang out. Service is fantastic — always offering a coffee, a smile, a joke, great conversation and a great haircut.

Cheryl has been my hair stylist for over three years, so when she moved to Salon Elle a few months ago, I was happy to follow her there! Her expertise is blond highlights-​she is incredibly talented! Cheryl goes above and beyond to make sure that I love my hair. I receive compliments and requests from strangers as to who does my hair. She is just a great person!
The salon is cool-​I enjoy the sunny location next to the Cantina. Elle the owner is friendly and has created a welcoming atmosphere. Michelle, Marta and Elle are fun to talk with.

Michelle has been helping me control my curly, wiry hair for about a year now, and she has done an amazing job. Fantastic cut and color to hide my grey, and then Coppla Karatin to make sure I’m not frizzy, out of control! What more could you ask for?

Michelle Lawrence has been doing my hair since last Fall and I’ve never loved my hair more! She does a healthy keratin conditioning which leaves my hair so smooth and easy to style. She is very up to date and fashionable on cuts and color. Love her!

Niki has been cutting and coloring my hair since January, and just styled me and my bridesmaids’ hair for my wedding. Niki is fantastic and is a truly gifted stylist! I have been to a lot of salons, and until I started going to see her, have not found a stylist who was able to cut, color, and set me up with the right products with her level of skill. She is really responsive to what I want and has great judgment as to what will work well for me. My hair looked fabulous on my wedding day and photographed beautifully! Her expertise and fun personality really put me at ease. All of my bridesmaids loved their hair and looked gorgeous as well!

I have been going to Elle for 3 years now and she has been nothing but professional and does a fantastic job every time. She really learns your hair and makes it look the best it can. I would highly recommend Elle.
