Ok, this is a «scene» place. That means come here if you want to be ‘seen’. MV& Tib crowd for sure. Happy hour drinks are an A, but the happy hour food is a C at best. The rest of the menu is actually pretty decent. The back deck is kick ass with a great western view of Mt Tam and the water. Nice breeze can keep things cool. Private room in back for meetings or events. Wear your best Polo or Prada!

I have had lunch here dozens of times with my mother. I’m giving it 5 stars because 98% of the time the service is courteous, friendly and efficient and the food is very consistent. We’ve had many good meals here. In addition, it has a very nice view and easy parking. My mom likes it too. Hard to argue with Mom! My favorites are spring greens with Salmon, Risotto, Pizza, Minestrone. But I haven’t had anything bad. I also recently attended a group event in their private room and food and service were impeccable.

This restaurant was a huge disappointment, first in accommodating anybody in a wheel chair and the lack of professionalism from its hostesses. We had made reservations ahead of time, and ended up sitting near an aisle that was a freeway for all its servants bumping into us. When asked if we can move to another location initially, the hostess was very curt and let us know that the rest of the tables where all reserved. Mind you this was around 5pm, and they where probably less than six people having a meal. Its unknown the reasoning behind our assign seating… Regardless, this issue could’ve been managed better. Usually the food is pretty good from our past experiences, but tonight it seemed very salty, and under-cook with sporadic service from its staff. Being a special occasion, this place was a big let down from the start, and ended in exploring other alternatives next time to appreciate the value of a good meal.

Food: I ordered a flatbread sandwich– absolutely tasteless. Would not order again. Another had a pizza– meh. The grilled king salmon looked great over nice spring veggies and another had steak over lettuce which looked good. My seat right over air conditioner vent– I was freezing– and I did tell them about it — which triggered a fix but quite extensive and they obviously know about it because so prepared but why is it that they seated me there and waited for my complaint? Complimentary valet parking– nice

I’ve been here a lot for personal meetings, business meetings and events. I’ll keep going back for meals and small meetings that we can have at a table. The largest down side is working with their event person. I’ve seen her behave very unprofessional to women and then be sweet as a peach to men. Our teams consensus is that we think she answers emails while she’s running around doing stuff. This means that she misses details and is pretty short in her replies and then, if you’re female, she blames any fall outs on your ineptitude. After a number of incidences with her and our team, we don’t book events there any longer. It’s a shame because it has great ambiance, location and food. I’ll keep going back for these latter points where I don’t have to deal with this woman.

Good food — terrible service. Had the Salmon. Peas and asparagus were terrific; salmon cooked just right. My mother had the ravioli. Delicious. The service was atrocious. We sat for 15 minutes until I begged the hostess to send someone over. Took FOREVER to get out check. Ruined the experience.

What a great find! Strolled by on an afternoon walk & it has after setting overlooking the water. Came back a few days later with friends & enjoyed a really great meal. Our party of six really enjoyed our meals & the pastas were outstanding. Typically a bolognese can be a little boring but not here. Fresh, fresh pasta & so flavoursome. The meatballs(app) & the spaghetti were standouts too…& they nailed the aperol spritz! Service was great, the host was really friendly(not at all snarly or pretentious), the food arrived quickly, they accommodated the kids nicely with colouring in pictures & crayons & they have complimentary valet. A great little find visible from the freeway not far from the Ferrari dealership.

Food and drinks great, but our server could not care less. Did not point out children’s menu on back of coloring sheet. Came to the table and asked if we had any questions about the menu. I asked her about the specials and she indicated they were«right there on the table.» I might add that we were a party of 7, and when we sat down there was like a scattered array of menus spread out throughout the table: 4 dinner menus 3 cocktail/wine menus 2(!) small leaflets with the specials that none of us had seen/realized were there. She NEVER came and asked how the meal was. For a 7 top, you MIGHT want to be a tad more customer service oriented. I made a pretty simple request that my salmon entrée not have any butter in it, and told her no aioli. She said«well there has to be some sort of cooking fat used.» Um. Yeah I realize that, I cook. Olive oil is fine. Apparently since I said to nix the aioli, she decided I didn’t need the salsa verde either. I tasted my sister’s.it was delicious. not that she ever came back so I could ask for some. Meh, like I said food is great and it’s convenient/right off the freeway but service can make or break the experience. When you get in the car and everyone goes«ugh that waitress sucked,»…

One of my favorite restaurants to go… especially the bread dipping!!! Ohhhhh soooo good. It must have some kind of a spell on me that I keep wanting more and more… lol The ambiance is very nice and can be romantic too. We always start with the calamari fritti… then we always opt for the Linguine for him and Margherita pizza. I like this place as it’s cozy, great food. Definitely a place to come back for more.

I began liking Piatti’s in Danville first, and then in Mill Valley. The food is very good and consistent, and being a vegetarian they don’t mind my asking for vegetable variations of their menu items. Super view and nice ambiance — although I always want to sit the farthest from the bar where there is a separate energy. My family and I also come here for special occasions and holidays — like Thanksgiving. It is a place for people of all ages/abilities(strollers and wheelchairs are welcome) and one gets the feeling that Piatti’s matches our diverse community … at least the staff is very nice to all — even if some reviewers do not appear to like small children.

A friend of ours brought us to this place after visiting Muir woods. They told us that Piatti’s has many different restaurants all over CA. We came to this locations and made an advance reservation. We were seated out on the deck with a water front view. First let me start off by saying that I still dream about their olive oil. balsamic, chili mixture with their fresh bread! It has got to be one of the best things I’ve ever had! I also ordered the risotto which was the special of the day and we also got the brussel sprouts and the calamari! All of which was excellent! This restaurant does not disappoint! My mouth is watering just thinking about the olive oil dipping sauce for the bread!

We have been going to Piatti for over three years and have enjoyed excellent food in a great location with outstanding service until this past weekend during late afternoon on Feb 21st. While enjoying the dinner at the bar, we saw a party of three sitting outside on the patio also enjoying dinner. However, these people also had two small dogs in their laps and proceeded to share their entire meal with the dogs, allowing them to lick their plates clean of pasta sauce on the table, hand feeding them pizza and allowing them to lap water out of their glasses. Many people in the bar were shocked at this spectacle and even more astonished that it continued for over 30 minutes. We brought this to the attention of the on-site manager who while expressing somewhat disgust, did nothing to stop this activity. He did not discuss it with the responsible party and even wished them well on their way out of the door. This is a health code violation at the very least. Servers now have to touch those plates and someone else will subsequently eat off of them. Huge disappointment from a great spot over the years

One stars for noise – the food may have been great but I would never know. There were 2 tables close to us with small children that should not have been in the restaurant. I can’t believe that a restaurant would allow children to annoy patrons in that manner. We were there for an nice Pleasant birthday lunch and it was anything but quiet. We couldn’t hear each other over the children. This is the restaurant’s responsibility. Don’t allow children to run rampant, screaming and taking over the restaurant. If the patents can’t control the children the restaurant should ask them to leave in consideration of the other patrons I won’t be back.

We had dinner here tonight for Valentines Day. We loved their romaine salad which had lots of salami, olives, and roasted peppers. It was the tastiest salad I ever had! Their pork ricotta meat balls are amazing! We also like their crispy chicken which comes with bacon pieces with rosemary, white beans, and brussel sprouts. The complimentary fresh bread comes hot with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Service is always professional. Highly recommended.

My wife and I met a friend there for lunch. We got there before they opened, but they graciously let us in, showed us to a table and gave us water while the staff was getting the place ready. They get an «A» if for nothing else than just being so hospitable. We hadn’t seen our friend for a long time and told the staff up-front we needed a place that was out of the way — where we could sit for a few hours through a leisurely lunch. They granted all our wishes. Again. kudos to the staff. They are special. Now to the food and drink. We bought two bottles of the house(Piatti branded) Cab. For the price, it was marvelous. My wife and I split a Cobb salad. Not only was it delicious, but the helpings were extraordinarily generous even though supposedly«split». Our friend had a chicken dish he raved about. Three hours later we left full and happy. We recommend it highly.

We stopped in here for happy hour. We had decent wine and the short ribs(not on the happy hour menu). The dish was very good, but it wasn’t balanced enough. Here’s the funny part: not enough polenta for the amount of meat. The bartender was nice. Not overly friendly. I don’t recall him ever smiling.

Yum. Love this place; definitely want to try out other locations too. I had the warm castelvetrano olives, which are my fave olives warm or cold… Definitely worth it. It comes with a grilled lemon, it adds a new level of flavor. The olive oil with balsamic for the bread had a spicy vibe; completely addictive! I ordered what I usually never do, but I found their house specialty was a lobster risotto! OMG! So good! I wasn’t going to eat another bite, but they brought the irresistible dessert menu with a salted butterscotch chocolate pot. Delectable. Loved this tantalizing experience.

A solid option for Italian food in southern Marin. Came here for a large private party and very nice service in the upstairs private dining room. They were very attentive to our needs and prompts with service. Food was prepared nicely with many delicious options to choose from before hand. Not out of this world but consistent and good quality ingredients. Beautiful views of Mt Tam and the estuary in Mill Valley added to the mood.

Piatti used to be my local! Lived in the hood for a couple years and my husband and I would steal away to this Mill Valley location. Small space but beautifully designed to utilize maximum views. Open feeling. Lots of new windows and an expanded bar. Wonderful small plates and the food doesn’t disappoint. Good solid Italian fare. Nice party room that is used a lot! Outdoor seating looking over a small man made waterway. Great for drinks before a date, brunch lunch or dinner. Come in alone too – the locals are nice! Right now I can smell minestrone soup as the rain starts to come down outside these windows. Salut!

Atmosphere. Beautiful views. Nicely appointed setup. Very good food. Outstanding service. A bit timeless in a way. Has an «older»(not that I’m young) but classy clientele that gives the place a modern 1970’s feel that reminds me of my pop and friends. I can’t really explain it but Piatti has a personality that’s cool for all age groups. I love the food here. It never grows old or goes wrong. They’re consistent. I have had most everything on the menu as I also frequent Piatti for business lunches. Kids are welcome here too and treated with respect + they have food for kids — the basics — pastas, pizza, etc. My 8 year old son always loves going here and even sometimes request dinner at Piatti. The bar and side room are nice. On cold days, they have a fireplace. On warm days, there’s the outside patio on the water with great views. Parking is generally easy but if nothing’s available, there’s valet. It’s really not that expensive either. This is in my top 5 of Marin favorites. I’m not sure if you can tell but I kinda like Piatti.

Piatti is not fancy schmancy but offers casually exquisite dining. The menu is Italian inspired, not so much authentic Italiano, but with inventive Italian accents. It is at the same time eclectic with a CA twist reflecting local sourcing and seasonality of the menu items. The dining room affords magnificent views of Richardson’s Bay and Mt. Tam and provides a good spot for business dinners or social gatherings among friends and families. Considering its scenic waterfront(we are talking about Marin County!) and semi-classy décor, it is surprising that the prices are not higher up in the clouds. We had a 6.30 reservation on a Sunday and were promptly seated by the welcoming hostess. To kick off the evening, we ordered the Tower of Piatti. I’m only kidding as it wasn’t labeled that way in the menu but as King Salmon Tartar($ 13.00), which was interestingly presented in the shape of a round tower. Darn! It would be awesome if the tower were leaning! It had small pieces of chopped salmon blended into a delicious paste-like consistency with creamy avocado, roasted gypsy peppers, olives and scallions. Drizzle a few drops of lemon infused olive oil for a smoother texture. The final concoction was like a «salsa-chips» dip accompanied by four pieces of thinly sliced and extra crunchy toasted crostini. It was a wonderful appetizer that was just enough to whet your appetite without filling you up.(4⁄5) We ordered a small, simple 2 toppings stone-hearth oven pizza. The pizza with pepperoni and crushed tomatoes($ 9.00) was perfect and gave the pizza a little saltiness and smokiness. Mozzarella was tasty too and added a creamy and smooth layer to the surface while giving the dough even more depth of flavor and a crackling crust. The thin crust has a nice bit of crunch but was still pliable enough to be folded in half for an easier bite.(4⁄5) Who can pass up a Crispy Skin Half Chicken($ 19.00) presumably done Italian style? One half of a small chicken with thigh, wing and breast was roasted perfectly to a nice golden brown complete with skin on. I know the skin was not the healthiest part but I was ready to make one slight transgression. Savor the crispy skin that had tons of flavors with the moist, juicy thigh meat to boot. I have always overdosed myself with dried up, flavorless, boneless, skinless chicken breast and this was a nice break! Now going on to the sides. I could barely taste the blue lake beans(in the family of green beans) as they are touted to be mild, subtly grassy and sweet. Their flavor paired well with wild rice although it was overwhelmed by the saltiness of the rice. It wasn’t intolerably salty but someone on a low sodium diet should be mindful. Part of the saltiness I believe also came from the smoked bacon but the bacon’s fat would bother me more than its saltiness.(3⁄5) Last but not least, I must have my pasta when dining Italian. The classic Linguine Vongole($ 18.00) caught my attention. Piatti used the small-shelled variety commonly known as Manila clams. These were in abundance on my plate tasting absolutely sweet and crunchy and just a little brininess for the ‘clammy’ flavor. In contrast to the more common renditions featuring a heavy tomato sauce, Piatti used white wine, garlic, calabrian chili and toasted breadcrumbs. The linguine was al dente, light, delicious and satisfying. The simplicity of this dish outweighed the use of heavy cream or fatty cuts of meats.(4⁄5) Piatti does not like to be regarded as a chain but more as a collection of restaurants. There are 5 locations in CA and I was told that except for a handful of common dishes, every location keeps its individuality by doing its own thing and keeping the menu for the most part separate and distinct from each other. Service was efficient but not warm and cordial. We will be back soon.

Piatti’s is worth a try, but there are better restaurants in Marin. The mediocre food is made up for somewhat by the excellent views and the great service. I ordered the salmon and it came out cold. Thankfully they quickly replaced it with a new piece of salmon that was well cooked and I enjoyed my dish. Our waiter was very attentive to all of our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant where we can have a good conversation and the restaurant was bustling with activity and almost all of their tables were filled. The view of the slough from our table was awesome. In fact, we took a walk while we were waiting for our dishes outside along the water path. Very cool. I was there for a large family event and everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. Our table was clean, our silverware was clean, and all the dishes had a nice presentation. In conclusion, I will likely return the Piatti but I’m not rushing back.

Piatti — without a doubt the best meal we had on our last visit up to the Bay. We showed up around 7:30 on a Friday night and we were seated immediately due to the thing all the people crowed around the door obviously haven’t heard of – a reservation. There was six of us and we were given a perfect corner table against the window overlooking the tiny Shelter Bay. Being that Piatti is an Italian restaurant, the menu is full of everyone’s Italian favorites with a modern twist. For our appetizers we got the warm Castelvetrano olives(with toasted bread crumbs, parmesan, and grilled lemon), crispy brussels sprouts(with aged balsamic, hardboiled egg, and crumbled gorgonzola), garlic prawns(with lemon, capers, parsley, and toast), and flat bread(with goat cheese from the wood oven and four hour tomato). The olive were fantastic and the brussels sprouts were the best I’ve ever eaten. Most people don’t get too excited when they see these underrated vegetable balls, but these were so delicious it almost hurt to eat them. I definitely recommend these little guys! The garlic prawns were delicious and the toast was soaked with the amazing sauce. The flatbread was perfectly crispy and the creamy goat cheese was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon! The appetizers were so unbelievably good we all couldn’t wait for the main dishes. I ended up getting the spinach-ricotta ravioli(with lemon cream, citrus bread crumbs, and parmesan). The sauce was so creamy and amazing without the lemon being too overpowering and the toasted bread crumbs added nice dimension and consistency to every bite. As if all that wasn’t enough, we still got dessert — chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and a huge scoop of seasonal sorbet on the side. In keeping with the rest of the meal, this dish was so tasty and rich it was easily big enough to split between all six of us! If you manage to show up before the sun goes down, the small bay just outside the windows is gorgeous and adds to the great ambiance of the dining area. Piatti is just a short drive up the freeway from the Golden Gate, and is worth every gallon of gas you’ll spend while sitting in traffic!

I never thought I’d be saying this, but Piatti’s has gone downhill. Ambiance is still fine. Service is not a problem. It’s the chef. The chef is a BIG problem. Piatti’s, it’s time to rethink what you are doing, or NOT doing with food. I got the spaghetti and meatballs which I was looking forward to. The spaghetti was thin and no where near al dente. It was tasteless, and the meatballs were too. The meal was more or less like eating cardboard. My girlfriend wanted something decently healthy and got the salmon with vegetables. The salmon itself was fine, but the potatoes and asparagus were served in a massive quantity of aioli, the vegetables were just sitting there stuck in the aioli which coated the bottom of the plate. Willis please. This is Marin, and this is fucking California. That plate went out in the 60’s. Piattis owners, it’s time for a new chef. Get one who has some innovation, the person who put both those plates together needs to be put out to pasture.

We were nearby & didn’t want to bother with Sausalito so found Piatti. Very glad we did. Ambiance: Although we didn’t have a reservation for lunch, we were seated along the window that overlooked the deck. The table was located next to the bar & along the corridor to the back room which would usually annoy me but we looked out the window enjoying the view & didn’t notice. There were tables on the outdoor deck but it was a chilly, windy day so we passed on that option. Definitely request a table along the window to enjoy the view. Service: Excellent. They were friendly & attentive without being intrusive. Refilled the water carafe without being asked & promptly brought more bread when requested. Food: $ 27 Today’s Fish Stew, Clams, Garlic Prawns, Tomato Broth & Roasted Garlic — was FANTASTIC!!! The best we’ve ever tasted & we’ve tasted many. The fish was salmon & everything was perfectly cooked. The clams were tender & sweet. The prawns were perfect. The salmon was moist & delicate. We adored the broth & sopped up every drop with bread. I hope it’s that delicious every time because we’d love to taste it again. There was a special Braised Short Ribs with grilled asparagus & roasted potatoes(we substituted for the horseradish mashed potatoes) — it was hearty & filling. The short ribs were tender & fell apart with a fork. The asparagus portion was generous & still had a crunch. $ 7 Butterscotch Pot De Crème, w/Chocolate & Sea Salt — It was good & not too sweet. Nice thick texture. The bottom tasted more like vanilla than butterscotch.

I’m not sure entirely what has happened to this place. I’ve noticed things are slowly but surely going down hill. My guest had TERRIBLE stomach cramping about 15 – 20 minutes after consuming the Caesar salad. Not a good sign. 1) When I make a reservation and ask for a specific request, like a window seat, it would be awesome if they could accommodate that request instead of me having to ask twice. This has happened 3 times. I know, I know, first world problems. 2) Service varies. It can either be incredibly rushed, like, hurry up and order OR incredibly slow, making a perfect opportunity to become the next Nancy Drew. Where is my server? It’s a mystery. 3) Their dessert menu rarely changes. It’s Fall, what happened to the apple crisp with alcohol undertones? I don’t want flourless chocolate cake year round. 4) There is a rarely an issue with parking. In fact, there has never been an issue in all the years I’ve been coming here. Why hire valet? Doesn’t make much sense. Their happy hour is still decent for Marin county, but I can’t imagine making reservations here again any time soon.

Immer immer wieder! Absolute Empfehlung!
