Sonic Drive-In

Absolutely love this place. It doesn’t matter how busy it is, everybody is so nice. As far as the food goes, it is what it is. Burgers are always hot and the ice cream is always cold. The chili cheese tater tots are fantastic.
For the true Cincinnati’s…they have real vanilla coke (unlike that place that switched to Pepsi).

I just don’t get it. This is a favorite of co-​workers; I’ve tried it twice now and meh, there’s nothing special about this place. I think they’re a bit overpriced. You don’t get an over abundance of food. I like the fact that they offer all the drink flavors and it’s awesome that they offer the splenda flavors. But for the price and the taste, I’m going to White Castle from now on:(

Being born and semi raised in Oklahoma, I still have fond memories of this place. Every saturday after fishing dad and I would stop in for lunch, On friday nights my uncle would take me in his T-​top camaro then we would drag main. Yes I’m from a small farm town, Yes it was the 80’s, Yes i still have my halen tapes, No my tape deck broken.
If this is your first time to Sonic you can’t really go wrong with the menu, its classic drive thru food. The Cherry-​Limeade is dam near angelic, even the diet verison isn’t all that bad! You can get mix the slush flavors with your favorite fountain drink, As a kid i used to get a Double Cherry Dr Pepper with vanilla, or a grape/​cherry slush.
The Breakfast items are ok, the eggs taste like powder to me and the sausage is a little rubbery for my palate. But the breakfast burritos with bacon and jalapenos are dynomite!
Lunch/​Dinner are my favorites. They will serve chili or cheese with anything on the menu. Yes you can get Chili cheese tator tots, fries, burgers hot dogs, even the fabled chili cheese frito burrito (hint hint get it with mustard, onions, and jalapenos) They do have a brown bag special, 2 burgers, 2 fries, 2 drinks for $ 9. Also they have a flavor of the month, a new hot dog, burger, something that is only there for a month. Oh almost forgot, they also have chicken strip baskets! nothing like dipping your texas toast into some good olé white gravy!
The kid meals are fun, i remember collecting the speciality halloween pales, the unique toys and puzzles. The Kids meals are quite good, i still order the corn dog or grilled cheese (add bacon and tomato)
The deserts are ok, it all depends on the ice cream machine. Sometimes it knocks it out of the park, sometimes it just old and yucky. Also dont get the $ 1 candy ice cream sundae, its just whipped cream and some snickers crumbles. Man up and get a real sundae ok!
This is a traditional car hop resturaunt, you can use your credit card at the order box, but make sure you have cash to tip the car hops. In the summer they wear skates so tip extra, thats hard work to do on skates. They also have a traditional drive thru, but where is the fun in that?

Try the new Chicago Dog or the New York Dog. Great all-​beef 6 inch dogs with all of the fixings.
All served with a smile and mint. Most of the times on skates!!!

I’ve never frequented Sonic all that often. But, the wife wanted a drink so we stopped in. And, what was that I saw on the menu??? But, chili cheese tater tots. COME ON! So, of course, I had to order them.
And, I was not disappointed. They came in what can only be described as a foot long hotdog holder. That’s right… a foot long amount of Chili cheese tater tots. SUCCESS!!!
Now, I’ll go back now… I’ll continue to go back till my body is at least 40% chili cheese tater tot! And I’ll love every single minute!
