Portions are huge! Fell in love with the lobster roll on the first bite. Service was quick and the staff is super friendly.

Got sick from undercooked seafood. Watched the cook wipe his face with a dirty white towel and then wipe down his food prep area. Do not recommend due to food safety issues.

Normally, I love Captain’s Catch, but yesterday we stopped for takeout. I had gotten the fish and chips boat, and my husband ordered the sole sandwich. We went to the beach to eat, and the sole sandwich practically fell apart trying to eat it. Packed very sloppy. My fish and chips were soggy. I imagine that this was due to being put in a takeout container. The food steamed. The quantity didn’t look the same either as when we eat there. This wasn’t a cheap lunch meal. And, it didn’t even include drinks. I was very disappointed, and felt a little nauseous after I ate. Obviously, take out is not the way to go.

The staff here are very pleasant and service was quick but sadly the food is not the same as I had remembered. I had the fried clam bellies and they were mediocre. It is a cozy family place and I may return to try it again but this visit really underwhelmed me.

Sorry, but I was hoping this place would be much better. The food is mediocre and not worth a return visit. I don’t even know if it’s fresh or frozen. Four of us dined and we all agreed that our meals were less than ok. Lacks taste and doesn’t taste fresh.

Great food — a bit of a wait but it’s worth it!

Not fancy dining but the food is very good. Mostly fried offerings. The fish sandwich lunch special is big enough to feed two. Love their fried shrimp. Their lobster bisque is awesome.

Used to be a great little place to get fresh quality seafood at somewhat reasonable prices. Lately the food quality has gone down hill. Almost everything tastes like it has been frozen and rinsed of any flavor. The shrimp and scallops were bland — really blah. The breading is thick and flavorless. Maybe some salt and a lighter coating would be an improvement. Side of cole slaw was greasy and at two bites… way too small. But everything gets lemon… that’s silly. The one saving grace was the lobster bisque. While I am sure much of it was langostinos, at least the flavor was there. Too bad, I used to go here quite a bit. Not likely to return until something changes and I see better reviews that approach what they used to be.

Rhode Island Clam Chowder was good but the fried clams were tough and had no flavor and the fried scallops were a joke! Thick little pockets of flavorless coating with minuscule scallops, that were freezer burned… GROSS!

Above average food at a reasonable price, I like going here to satisfy my seafood needs. I particularly like the lobster roll which they serve hot with butter, not always that easy to find, and the meat serving is generous. There are a lot of other great options on the menu as well. I think most people go with ‘take out’ but there is ample seating there as well. I’d recommend grabbing it to go and drive a mile down the road to Woodmont Beach, park your car, and eat there on a bench and take in the sea view.

I love this place, the food is great, the staff is friendly. I will today complain about one thing. I went for lunch today and got the fried clam strips schooner. The clams were not clean or something because all I was chewing on was sand, so I couldn’t even eat it. It was a take out order so I did not get in my car to drive back there. UGH. I was so looking forward to a good lunch. I don’t think this will stop me from going there again, just a little FYI.

The lobster roll and fries are great but not consistently — sometimes the lobster roll is dry and other times, overly buttery. The real issue is the rocky business. It seems like there’s always a problem: the credit/debit card machine is broken, the ice cream machine is broken(which I don’t eat but regardless), on and on. They claim to be open until 9PM on Saturdays but I’ve consistently called to order/stopped by to grab a bite around 8:20, 8:30, only to find the place shut tightly, lights off and all, indicating they stopped working far earlier. Once I mentioned it to the girl the next time I went in, and she shrugged and said«yeah, if it’s a slow night, we close early.» No apologies for apparently shutting down 45 minutes before their(fairly early already) close time. Certainly irritating and makes me a far less regular customer.

It’s just not that good. Lobster bisque has a crawfish-looking seafood to mock lobster. I felt like I’d been taken as a fool. I had a negative experience here with the waitstaff too. They once undercharged me and instead of taking on the responsibility of their mistake, the counter girl brought us a new receipt and told us we owed a few more dollars. We had already paid and finished our food! Poor business practice.

I went in expecting not too much more than the usual deep fried fish fare but walked out thinking ‘why hadn’t I come here before?’. Wow, this place is outstanding. Ordered the Fish Boat and a large soft drink. Prior to it’s arrival, I silently pondered eating a greasy, somewhat tasty pile of fried fish and fries followed by a quick trip to the bathroom. I got tasty and much more. The fish bits(cod per the menu) were actually really good. The fries, usually my fallback just in case the main item sucks, were outstanding. Of all the types of restaurants I’ve been to in my time, a seafood place is the last restaurant I would expect to get outstanding fries from. They really were great. No hint of multiple fry oil usage. «Eww, these fries taste like clams.» Next visit might just be for fries. Staff nailed my order along with the ‘extra fork /ketchup /napkin’ annoying kind-of requests afterward without a problem. During a slow period, the order-taking person came out from behind the counter, swept the floor and straightened up as if she owned the place. You notice this kind of stuff and feel good. Overall, prices not too bad, and a nice, comfortable, unrushed, hang-out-as-long-as-you-want-to type of dining room setting. They got the classic seafood eatery décor just right and have utilized their small space really well. Prices in line with reality. Large soft drink lasted the whole meal. They have a decent kids menu and ice cream for dessert. Haven’t had either but maybe some ‘scream next visit. Great little place I’m looking forward to returning to.

I went here for lunch with my brother-in-law jonesing for a lobster roll. The hot and cold versions were on special here for $ 10.50 with a side of fries. We both ordered a hot roll and a birch beer. The plate came out with a pile of lobster meat on a hot split roll and some tasty battered fries that were piping hot. I added a little mayo to mine and it was delectable. Birch beer was a great accompaniment. My only gripe was that they charged for fountain drink refills. Not a lot, but eh. I’d definitely go back and try the clam strips or one of the other lunch specials. :)

I don’t know which is better, their prices or their seafood. Perhaps both. I was able to overlook the thick breading on my fried clams because the clam strips were über fresh(super fresh). Plus, they weren’t greasy at all. The french fries were another story and more greasy than I normally like. But considering the price I paid for the fried clam strips roll combo($ 6.50) the fries were essentially free. Stowes charges the same thing but does not include french fries. The prices here are some of the best around(for fried seafood, aka: clam shacks fare). This place was bustling during lunchtime one afternoon. Surprisingly the staff handled the crowd perfectly without flaw.

Everything was fried. Everything. My wife hated it. When she hates it, it is a bad experience for me. We will not go back.
