What a local gem. This place is great to meet for drinks or better yet, dinner. The bourbon wings are spectacular and the dinners are even better. I usually get the steak while my wife is a fan of their salads. The dining area is cozy, romantic and comfortable with a nice fireplace to keep you warm. Like Kate L. I don’t understand the low ratings. I’ve heard there were issues when they first started, but haven’t had a bad experience in the eight times we’ve been there(that was in the last 2 – 3 months by the way). The staff is welcoming, accommodating and provide really great service. Dean the Chef is always checking on his customers. This is also my first Unilocal review of any business in the area. I just think this bistro is better than most restaurants in the area hands down. If you are looking for a great place to sit and enjoy a great meal, without the hustle and bustle of cruising down the Post Road, you should give this place a try.

I have been here 3 times in the last month. Service has been excellent and personable. Good if outstanding. And the fireplace adds to a very cozy atmosphere. I will be a regular here.

I have to believe the negative reviews are either for the wrong restaurant or grudge reviews from competition. We’ve been enjoying Oscars since they opened. Some blips in the beginning but the service, atmosphere & now really fine food keep us coming back. Take an everyone knows your name Cheers, add a fireplace, incredible service, a chef who creates a great meal & comes around to explain it to you & you have Oscars.

Some of the 1 reviews may be their experience of old but there is a new experienced Chef on board. Both my wife and I enjoyed our dinners immensely. The presentation was great, food came out timely. It was a cold night but we were seated by the fire place which made things very cozy. We usually go to the named brand franchise restaurants, this was a nice change. I recommend it.(We had reservations).

Had dinner here with my wife and was pleasantly surprised. I had pork bellies with shrimp and grits and my wife had apple pork chops. Great taste with both and great atmosphere. A little wine with a table next to the fire was the cherry on top. Chef Dean came out and we complimented his dishes. Very different experience from just a few months ago. Food was good then but GREAT now

I stopped here to revisit now that this place has been open a while and had a chance to work out their growing pains. This is seriously one of the worst places I have ever been to. Their service is absolutely horrible, their food is terrible, there is a major townie crowd that is loud and obnoxious and obviously over served, and it is one of the most unwelcoming places in the area. I am amazed it is still open.

We had a wonderful experience at Oscar’s tonight. I started with the french onion soup — it was home made and full of onions, a crusty top, and melty cheese. My husband had the wedge salad. The dressing was excellent and romaine crispy. As always, I had the fish — salmon today. It was wild caught, cooked perfectly and very flavorful served with asparagus and rice. The inside was rare and outside had a nice crust. My husband had the steak frites which was also cooked as he ordered and the fries were nice and crispy. The atmosphere was lovely with a fire and live music. The décor is warm and cozy — like you’re in someone’s home. What a great addition to the Milford restaurant scene! We look forward to coming back soon!

Awful food, awful service. We decided to stay local and have dinner here. MISTAKE. Service was bad, waiter couldn’t even tell us what the specials were, he needed to go find out then dropped a paper on the table. Appetizers took an hour to come out. Food was flavorless and the presentation terrible. The Chef should be ashamed. Got the bill and all the entrée prices were wrong. Never going there again and will tell our friends the same.

At least the drinks are good. Party of 7. Waiting over 45 for service. Never again. Two star rating is too generous.

We really enjoyed the the food, staff and overall vibe of this hometown restaurant. The changes they have made on the menu from the normal options to adding many new seasonal selections, is a great idea. There has been a lot of changes for this ever evolving trendy place. There are grate comfort food choices to help you unwind, to dishs that will make your taste buds crave the next mouthful. With great drinks and beer choices every night to the occasion live music, it’s a must try in Milford.

We have been going to Oscar’s since they opened and have always had a good experience, even while they went through some growing pains. They have now settled down with a good staff, fun menu and are providing a quality dining experience. Apps, salads and entrees have been very good. The Restaurant Week menu was delicious and a great value. Try the sliders and calamari for starters. Both are excellent. Their lobster roll is delicious and, judging from our neighboring diners, a most popular dish. Dessert specials including a berry crisp have been great.

I went to Oscars tonight for the first time. I had there salad special: Kale, Brussell sprouts, and shrimp. The salad looked and tasted like the salad came from a bag. Opened a bag of ripped kale and precut Brussell sprouts and dumped it on a plate and called it a salad. The salad came with 4 small shrimp. The salad was a plate of 98% raw kale. The second salad was a BBQ chicken salad. Again the lettuce did not look fresh and most likely came from a bag pre torn. The chicken was dry and lacked taste. Very little amount of chicken was provided on the salad. At least 95% of the salad was just lettuce. I would give this place a 1, but it a local place. I hope they can get their act together.

I had high hopes for Oscar’s since its a neighborhood place for me and took over the location of one of our favorite Mexican places, Sloppy Jose’s. From the outside the place looks nice, and even the inside was quite inviting. It has been given a nice facelift. However, I was sorely disappointed by my first experience. I went here with my husband, my 3 daughters and my father on a Sunday night since the pizza place across the street was too crowded. What a mistake. There was no one at the door to greet me when I walked in to check out the menu and see that it was an okay place to bring kids. I waited a good 5 minutes and still no one came out front. There was only one table in the restaurant, it was getting late and we were all hungry, so we figured we would chance it. Eventually one of the servers came out and I told him we would need a table for 5, plus a highchair. He told us to seat ourselves anywhere in the restaurant. We were left to get our own highchair and were not given any menus. Getting our drinks, which consisted of 2 waters, 2 juices, a milk and a beer took nearly 20 minutes. I asked if they had children’s cups for my kids, was told by a waiter they had plastic cups, and was then given 3 pint glasses for my kids to drink out of – one for a 16-month-old. If you advertise a kids’ menu, you should at least have the proper means to serve kids. Maybe just one of the kinks the staff is working on since the restaurant is so new. After waiting 20 minutes for the drinks, it took another 15 to get menus, and still several more minutes to get kids’ menus. We ordered a BBQ chicken salad, 2 black and blue steak sandwiches, a mac and cheese kids meal and a chicken fingers kids meal. My father said his steak sandwich was good. My husband, on the other hand, must have gotten the remains of the cow. His sandwich was filled with inedible gristle. It was so bad he nearly broke a tooth trying to eat it and his tooth even hurt the next day. My salad was quite tasty, but the BBQ chicken was so finely shredded and so lacking that it hardly filled me up. The best part of the meal was enjoying the leftover kids’ meals, which were actually very tasty. My husband mentioned that his sandwich was full of gristle, but the waiter didn’t seem to notice or care. Neither a manager or member of the kitchen staff came out to speak with him about it. Again, perhaps this is due to the fact that the restaurant is still new and that the staff is trying to find its way, but its poor customer service to ignore such a blatant offense. Sad to say I doubt we will ever go back to Oscar’s. We miss the old Sloppy Jose’s. Definitely do not recommend this restaurant, especially not if you have kids.

If they are going to make it they need to make improvements fast– this is a neighborhood spot so I really want it to succeed — We have great restaurants in Milford so the bar is high. Last night was my second try– the first was a week after they opened(to say it was a disaster would be an understatement) gave them a month to get it together and tried again. They changed the whole menu — an honestly the new menu is lacking — but on to the actual food– Well drinks first, the bartender(new guy) needs to go back to mixology 101– drinks were terrible, Crab cakes were good, two sauces red(good) citrus(lacking flavor) — flat bread pizza, yuck ! ketchup on an english muffin would have been better, pasta special — not too bad but nothing special– they need to SEASONTHEFOOD– start with some salt. Over all — they need a help it they are going to make it — I do love the new set up — like the bar area especially so please, please make the food and drinks worth coming back for!

Fly nipping at my ankles, cold french fries, hamburger not cooked properly, offered asparagus in stead of french fries, $ 4.00 upcharge for 4 asparagus, soft drink machine broken when offered refills, sent someone to store and charged us for the long delayed drinks. Should have known better but we ordered the angel food cake with strawberries and we got a tasteless slab of what looked like it maybe pound cake, we did not eat it. Lot of work to be done for this place to succeed.

Awful, no other way to put it. It took over a hour and a half to get two burgers, they messed up three out of the four drinks we ordered and I could have had a better meal at Five Guys. Its sad because the location is perfect however save your money and go across the street to Seabreeze.

I had a good first experience at Oscar’s. It is clear that they are still working out a few kinks, but overall we enjoyed the food, drinks, and service. We went on a weekday night. Parking is a bit challenging because the lot is small. While there is street parking around, I think this could pose a challenge for people who are less familiar with the area. We were seated right away, and it was about half full. The small bar area in the front was full. It is a very loud place due to the acoustics of the space. I ordered a cocktail that was tasty and fairly stong. A cook brought out a tasting portion of an item not yet on the menu, which was nice. We split a shrimp appetizer that was spicy and favorfull. I had the fish and chips entrée. I had to ask for ketchup and tartar sauce, but it was brought over right away. My companion had the burger. It was cooked medium rare, as asked.

I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant experience in my life. My fiancé and I went here tonight for our date night. I should preface this by saying we NEVER complain about restaurants. Oscars is in the old Sloppy Jose’s location. We had high hopes for it after seeing it had turned into a tavern/pub. We went there tonight for dinner. it was packed but they were able to sit us right away(reason for one star). It took 20 minutes for the waiter to come and ask us what we wanted for drinks. I ordered the Panama and my date ordered the Mexican Diplomat. I received my drink which was very blah and he got something totally different than what he ordered. We figured no big deal and just ignored it. After that, it took another 20 minutes to get someone to come over to us to take our order(two burgers). It took an hour and a half to get our food. The server brought us over two salads«complimentary» about an hour in but at that point we were so mad… the damage had been done. We looked around and tables who had been sat way after us had already received their food. Also tables of five were all receiving their food at different times. No apology from the manager. When our burgers finally came, I had asked for mine well done and it was medium rare. My date’s was cooked fine but was tasteless. I took off my top bun and lo and behold my burger patty had literally been cut in half(presumably so they could use the other half for someone else). Finally we just asked for the check(nothing comped) and left. Needless to say, we will NEVER be back or recommend this place to any of our friends. Real disappointment. Save your time and go across the street to a place worth your hard earned money.

Sloppy Joses has gone and in comes a new décor, vibe and menu. Oscars is only in their soft opening and I have high expectations that this will be my favorite new place to eat.

We stopped here on 6÷20÷15 and they were only offering a sample menu as the full menu wasn’t ready yet. We decided to give it a try. We were given a crab cake, salmon with risotto, seared sea scallop, and a bison burger slider. All four plates were excellent. We were able to see the full menu as well and it looked intriguing. I actually enjoyed the small plates and left stuffed! The beer and wine menu were limited, but this may also be a result of the«soft opening» menu. I hope to see more options on the full menu. Overall, the food was spot-on and the interior décor was trendy. Seemed a little French-bistro style which seems appropriate. 4 Stars for now, but I hope to go back in a week or so when the full menu is ready and try it again!
