Kraken Barber Shop

D gave me a great cut! He accidentally got double booked, and I was after those 2 books and I was the last customer for the night, yet he didn’t rush to get out. He took his time even though it was closed and everybody was gone and I appreciated that. I got a fade and a taper and I’m stoked with it! He’s also a nice, sociable guy. Will be returning.

I had a bad haircut a month ago, so that same day I went on Unilocal,and found the kraken barber shop. As I was reading the reviews I read a lot about Jake, and D all of them were great.
I came in with my hair grown out, still screwed up from my previous haircut. I asked for a gentlemen’s cut, and I got what I asked for and more. He fixed my hair, took his time on the sides, and insured me that it will look better as I grow it out. As I’m looking at the end cut I’m just surprised, everything has a nice shape to it. D Sandoval is lit. 10/​10, best barber I’ve ever had.

I am very happy with the haircut I got from D. He asked basically what I wanted and then took it from there. He explained his approach, and the result looked great — I will definitely be back. The studio area is small, but is kept clean.

I really enjoyed the cut and beard trim. D is great at giving his personal advice and touch with your hair. I really enjoy the personal barber feel and can definitely say it’s worth it for me to drive 20 mins.

I’m not one to usually write reviews but Jacob at Kraken blew me away. The atmosphere, the quality, the conversation, never before have I been so impressed with a barber. He also gave me a straight razor shave, now I have never been able to or have gotten shaved without having at least 10 cuts, I have very sensitive skin. Jacob pulled it off without a nick, I was speechless.
Hands down best barber ever, stop looking, this is it.

This guy gets it. Been on the search for a barber in SLC, found The shop on Unilocal and the reviews didn’t lie; D knows what he’s doing and takes his time to get it right. Super friendly dude, and a nice, clean relaxing environment.
I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, just told him to give me a cut that looks good. My man nailed it. Got the beard trimmed up, and he uses a straight razor to clean and line you up. A+ work. Already booked my second appointment.

Stop looking. I have tried Perry’s, Jed’s, Rays and Zuriick (see hipster comment above). I have never left completely satisfied and felt my money was well spent until now. D understands style and knows what cut will best suit you. The fade I asked for was executed with precision and confidence. The conversation was great.
Bottom line. You will receive a cut that is worth your money from a skilled barber and you will leave saying… I look good!

Shoutout to D for the fresh cut. After reading reviews on here and checking him out on Instagram, I decided that Kraken was the place to go. Booking online was simple. The location was perfect and easy to find. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he made it happen… Exactly! You can tell that he enjoys what he does and that he takes pride in his work. It was refreshing to sit in a chair and talk about life. I’ve been to so many shops in the past where I felt like I couldn’t be myself, and here I felt at home. I’ve had 2 people since I left yesterday ask me where I got my cut from and I told them about this place. This is my new shop to hit up for sure.

After trying many other barbers including Rays, I finally found Kraken and I will be a customer for life. He has great prices as well as taking his time and really understanding what you are looking for. I get an undercut as well as a beard trim. My beard is a huge tangled mess and D takes his time with it and shapes it until it is manageable again. I strongly suggest all my friends and family go to Kraken if you want a good haircut.

Best cut my son has ever got in Utah! I highly recommend D. He definitely has the cool cat vibe.

Finally! I have found a great barber in SLC!
After bouncing around to a couple barbers & being disappointed by their skills, their attitudes, or just the overall experience, I put my trust in Unilocal and found D at Kraken Barber Shop. Thank god.
It took me a minute to figure out where this place is, but it’s inside (back, left corner) of the ‘Image Studio’ near Wal Mart. The building essentially rents out a bunch of little rooms to barbers, stylists, masseuses, and the likes.
Anyway, back to the Kraken! Super nice guy, very easy to talk to, gives a killer haircut without having to double check with you every 3 seconds. I highly recommend you check it out. Give him a call first, though, because he works nights and partial weekends, so you want to make sure he’s available!

Take a step back in time with me. A time when barbers cared for their customers. When they woke up in the morning, and decided that they would be clean, presentable, and stylish for their customers. A time when patience, and care for what you do was lauded and praised instead of putting more emphasis on speed and quantity. Kraken is all about quality. It’s a clean environment with a barber that can fade you, trim you, straight razor shave you, I heard if you ask nicely he’ll even happy ending you. It’s all for a good price where the quality far outweighs the cost. I highly recommend this joint for anyone who needs to be cleaned up before a hot date or interviews alike. He straight razored my scalp for me, and lined up my beard nicely. Conversation was warm and familiar, while he treated my scalp with the utmost care. I hope Kraken is here to stay.
