We just moved to the area and needed to find a sushi spot – found it! We went at happy hour to test it out and everything was great. The bartender was friendly but still knew when to leave us to ourselves. They have great drink specials, 3 $ rolls! And discounted apps. We tried the white tuna, salmon, Easter, tuna, and shrimp tempura rolls – all were amazing. Great fish to rice ratio and very fresh. We also had Goyza which were average, and the spring roll which was beautiful and tasty. Well def be back for meals and more happy hours – so glad we found this place.

The hibachi was very good and the price was very reasonable. The waitstaff was amazing with the kids. They even brought our little one a special treat. I would highly recommend this place.

This is one of my favorite sushi places, which you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in Middletown, NY. Their specialty rolls are all worth trying, but be sure to try the Sex Appeal(and don’t be shy because of the name). It’s a great place to bring a date, or family. The menu, of course, includes non-raw options such as tempura, teriyaki, etc. I’ve had just about everything on the menu and you’d have a very tough time going wrong when ordering. There is also hibachi, which I always see people going for, although I have never had it. The staff is friendly. The prices are good. You can fill up for $ 20 a person. If they offered an all-you-can-eat menu, they’d have to add a sixth star for these reviews.

Cool place, great food and drinks. Don’t order Hibachi unless you are the Hibachi grill.

I’ve been to hibachi places more times than I can count. When I visited my best friend she absolutely raved about this place but I didn’t see the appeal. I ordered the hibachi chicken and it tasted absolutely nothing like hibachi style food. If I lived in this area it certainly would have been a first and last time visit.

I live in Washington DC, and Mr Sushi in an unassuming strip mall completely kicks the shit out of all sushi I’ve ever had in DC. So flavorful, wow.

I just went here for the fist time. The food was great and our server was very nice. Now there was a group over us. Some of us knew each other and some didn’t. We had separate checks(with this type of restaurant there are always separate checks because of it being a family style seating) we each had coupons for our own checks. The manager said that only one couple can use the coupon because we were a party. Manager was very rude. It didn’t seem like a big deal because she would have done it for a different table if no one knew each other. Just seemed rude.

Tomo and his crew never fail to disappoint. We were at our favorite sushi place this past weekend, enjoying our cocktails before ordering our dinner, when a huge, multi-county power outage occurred. The place was packed as usual and pitch dark(except for emergency flood lights of course). Some paranoid folks thinking it was an ISIS attack left, but most hung out. Power never returned, but the staff was not deterred from bringing us our favorites, and the kids still got their hibachi show under the lights of everyone’s cell phone flashlights. Unreal. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’ve been in just about every major city in this country and have tried the highest rated sushi restaurants, and none compare to Mr. sushi in Middletown, NY. So glad it’s only a half hour from my house. Great job as always guys! Keep up the good work!

Very good sushi which can be hard to find in Upstate NY. The restaurant provides a good atmosphere and service is friendly and accommodating. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for a clean, fresh meal in Middletown.

I Iove mr. sushis rice! The chicken hibachi is great… The cooks could be better, maybe a bit more professional but overall I love the food so much

Very good experience at Mr. Sushi. The Bento Box Shrimp Tempura lunch special had enough of everything, the tempura was light and crisp, not greasy. The miso soup served with it was lukewarm. The sushi was of a generous portion and was fresh –tuna and salmon were excellent. Service was attentive and prices were reasonable.

I eat sushi quite often, both while traveling on business and when I’m not on business. The sushi at this restaurant is quite good, and the restaurant provides a brown rice option, which is a nice differentiator. We had great service and really had a nice overall lunch experience. I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for good quality sushi.

Good place, good food probably the best Japanese food in Middletown and the place is good and friendly, the only issue would be some of the waitress are not so friendly, but I repeat just some of them

Came for a second time. The level of service was much better this time around. We sat in a booth which we preferred over the tables closer to the entrance. They offered us a booster seat for our son too. We ordered a hibachi veggie kids meal. It came with soup(maybe a mushroom broth?) that we really liked more than the basic miso. Also got the age dashi tofu appetizer. I liked the way it was fried, not too greasy. It tastes better when dipped in both ponzu and soy sauce. Ponzu alone leaves something to be desired. We got 4 special rolls which came in a fancy boat. Same as our first visit, we over ordered. I really need to remember that three rolls are plenty for us. Got the Middletown, Dream Team, Sweetheart, Fancy Lobster. Middletown was my fave. Others were just okay. Fancy Lobster was not good, don’t get it. Not sure what’s fancy about it, might have been fake meat. Will have to remember my faves for the next visit: Middletown and Fish Finder!

First time here, not disappointed! Scallion wrapped beef was phenomenal. Gyoza with chicken was also delicious. Had some sushi, standard California roll and spicy scallop roll. Beautiful restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and helped us decide what to get. Cannot wait to come back here!

New menu items! Delicious! They really are a gem in the endless abyss of chain restaurants in the area. I have yet to try one thing I didn’t like. I make it a point to tey something different every visit! This time around… the yaki Ika appetizer was delicious, and the new special menu rolls are worth every penny. The wait staff is extremely friendly! Come in for a second time and I guarantee one of them will remember you.

Sushi was fresh! Excellent. Next time I will just get a table since I don’t always need hibachi. My kids loved the hibachi show and the staff was friendly to my children.

FRESH was my main concern as usual when on vacation & not back home in Hawaii. This lil spot in a not very big strip mall added the worry BUT i was jonesing for SUSHI& the ratings/photos showed ‘passing’. YAAAAAY!!! It very much suited my starving palate. FRESH it was & Yum ta’boot!

Nice place that still has that new furniture smell. Mmmmm! We had a party of 6 in tow and the group consensus was to do hibachi(I went the sushi/sashimi route instead). I was thrilled that they have Kirin Light in addition to a full bar with a nice drink menu. Finding a restaurant with a full bar in New Jersey is like looking for a Chupacabra… you New Yorkers have it going on in that respect. The meal was paced very well and our appetizers and sushi arrived at the same time as our hibachi counterparts. Our chef was very entertaining and provided us with a lot of laughs. We almost felt bad ordering sushi instead of hibachi because we could tell that the chef was very into it and he wanted to ensure that everything was done perfectly. Everyone really liked their selections(steak/shrimp/chicken, etc.) and we were pleased with the presentation and the quality of our appetizers and our sushi. And the best part is that this restaurant is very well ventilated. There is nothing worse than stinking like hot beef when you leave a restaurant. Not to say that is inherently bad, but I just don’t care for that kind of thing on a Saturday night :) Ample parking since it is located in a strip mall(what ISN’T located in a strip mall these days?!?). Prices appeared to be in line with the area. Go get your hibachi on!
