The worst store if you’re looking to buy a gun or if you need any sort of help. It took me almost 2 and a half hours to purchase a pistol. I just couldn’t believe it. Whatever the reason may be that it takes so long from the time you say«I’ll take it» to the time that you actually can leave the store with your gun is just absolutely ridiculous! I mean, I’m not buying a car or a house. It has never taken me more than 30 to 40 min to purchase a firearm ever! I’ve also purchased some ammo there as a last resort but this place is a rip off when it comes to anything firearms related. Even Dickhead’s is cheaper than this place and run some way better deals on ammo from time to time. So if you’re looking for good prices and friendly help, do not go to this place unless it’s a last resort situation and you know exactly what you want.

Ok to be fair I went to the store to keep a family member company while she made several purchases. The store has a decent selection of sleeping bags, cots, and camping apparel. Nothing spectacular. It also appeared as if all the sale items sell out on the first day because only one of the sale items was in stock. The sales associate on the floor was helpful. However, the service at the register was lacking. Decent shopping experience.

I stopped by a month later for some outdoor clothing and to see if they actually added human sized footwear(under size 9 ½ to their selection… nope. Their review rating takes another hit. I will soon not use Gander Mountain as a footwear go to store. But if you’re a man with a size 11 or 12, you are in good shape, sheesh

Zero Stars. Gun section is the worst. They act like you are hassling them. I left and spent my money at another store.

Gigantic Camping/Outdoors/Hunting store in Middletown. Picked up a new sleeping bag(on sale) and air mattress for our annual camping trip. Store is huge and clean. Bathrooms were clean as well. It may be hard to find some stuff, but the staff is helpful.

I ordered my firearm online and had it sent to this store. Despite there being 6 associates walking around behind the counter– only 3 were actually working there with a small group of approximately 10 customers in front of me waiting to be helped. After milling about for a time I was told I had to take a number… off course the machine was empty, so I had to put my name on a list. …another point. I waited patiently until they finally got to me with receipt and I.D. in front of me. The associate, whom I would later discover was the manager, Gregg, rudely demanded I produce ID and my receipt… 3rd point, gave me a form and walked off– never to return. …4th point. After the other two associates figured out which of them would process my paperwork I waited almost an hour for the background check to be completed. They acted as though I was a bother and they were doing me a huge favor. They also gave me the distinct impression they were looking for any and every reason not to give me my firearm. Sorry to disappoint you. Now give me my $&it. I found the back counter personnel to be highly arrogant and exceptionally rude. Mentioned it to my buddy and he said he experienced the same thing. I’m going to make every effort possible never to shop in that store again. Thank you Gander Mtn, hellloooo Cabela!!!

same experience as Joe B. you have 20 people waiting for help on gun counter and only 3 personnel — of which 2 are busy with paperwork for inventory and the third helps one person chatting with him for 40 minutes while the rest of us are waiting Similar resultants on 3 follow up visits. Now I am just taking my business somewhere else. Only go to Gander Mountain when you have tons of time and don’t need anything

Our 2nd Amendment rights are alive and on parade here at Gander Mountain sporting goods store. A huge sporting goods selections of equipment is astronomical you could spend some fun time walking around looking at the mounts of all different types and of course tons of guns & ammo & Bows. This is a sportsman’s wet dream. The crew is great and always helpful to offer suggestions. Luv it.

I used to go here years ago but since then it seems to have changed from a fishing/hunting store to a camping/hiking store. I dont like how I have to take a number at the gun counter just to speak with a rude woman. some staff members dont really know what theyre talking about either. when i buy ammo Im asked what the intended use is… would rather support a local store like thruway sporting goods.

Unfortunately i have to give this a 1 star rating due to the response i received from the manager. I have visited the store multiple times and waited well over an hour each time for service at the gun counter. Now i understand it is the busiest department by far right now but it is obvious they are understaffed and managed incorrectly. When i see 1 of the 2 employees behind the counter disappear for 25 minutes while he helps a customer bring a safe to the front door it becomes very frustrating. I sent a complaint e-mail while waiting and received an e-mail response 2 weeks later from MIKESCHWARTZ. Instead of calling me he asked that i call him. i then reply with«the bottom line is waiting over an hour for service is not reasonable or good business. Nor is an e-mail response 2 weeks after I send the original.» Instead of properly addressing my concerns he replied with«I appreciate your taking the time to respond sir. Respectfully, Mike» Due to the lack of care i give this place 1 star. I have spent thousands of dollars here and will now take my business elsewhere.

Its a really big toy store for most men and some women who are either casual or hardcore outdoor enthusiast. Went there to buy my fiancé a fishing pole for his b-day. We spoke to some of the staff who were really into fishing and picked out the best one for his needs. I only go there to clothes shop as always they have a lot of great out door clothes but its really not cheap at all. They have the best brand name outdoor clothes at retail prices and their sale prices still seem pretty high to me. I have bought some great snow boots in the past and they last a long time. If you are looking to get some quality out door goods and price is not an issue this is the place to go.

I do like this store. Being in NY the ammo prices were not as bad as I thought. The gun selection was pretty good. I may just have to come back for a rifle soon. The only thing I thought strange though was this place is big, too big. They don’t have enough stuff to fill it, so there are huge patches of empty space, making it feel more like a warehouse.

This place is THE place to stop for all of your pellet gun supplies. Don’t bother stopping by Dick’s or any other non-speciality stores if you’re looking for a fun pellet gun or even BB gun with some serious FPS(all of the stuff at other stores that I’ve seen have weak less than 500FPS ratings and are CO2, which gets tedious — break barrel all the way!) When it comes to great deals on ammo, there is NO other place to go! I have found fantastic deals on ammo here(great deals on .410 slugs, .22 ammo), awesome guns, scopes, pepper spray… I could go on and on! I absolutely love this store — any hunter or fisherman or shooting enthusiaist in here is like a kid in a candy store! Nothing else compares

I LOVE this store! The fishing season is upon us and when I go in this store you can’t drag me out even if it were on fire. You’d have a hard time prying my dead cold hands from the front door as you tried to drag me out the fishing section. What DOESN’T this store have? They have everything and I buy a lot here from fishing, hunting, paintball and outdoor clothing. They even added real boats about 3 years ago, I believe, for sale with full displays right on the sales floor. If you can’t make it out to Pennsylvania for Bass Pro Shops or Cabellas, Gander is the next best thing.

Gander Mountain is one of those places you might go to walk off part of an over-ambitious brunch and find yourself leaving with things you did not quite realize you needed and/or wanted!
