While visiting my cousin at Middlebury College, she suggested to go apple picking at Happy Valley Orchard. They allow patrons to pick their own apples until Halloween. The have several acres of well kept apple trees. They have 16 kinds of apples including Macintosh, Cortland, Empire, Northern Spy, Macoun, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala, Paula Red, Ginger Gold, Spartan, Sansa, Shamrock, Mutsu, Jonagold, and Sweet 16. It’s nice that they charge per size of bag — ½ peck for $ 5, 1 peck for $ 8, and 1 bushel for $ 14. I like how you can mix and match and try different kinds of apples. After picking your apples, you’ll pay at their farm stand. At the farm stand, they also sell homemade apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, pies, local maple syrup and honey, pumpkins, fall squashes, and Japanese lantern squash.
