Donkey show is right. We had floor tickets and spent the better part of the evening being pushed around the floor by the 20+ miserable faced security guards so they could move props. It was kinda like watching a bad high school play with a two million dollar production budget. The actual show only lasted approx. an hour, which was too long for the actors apparently because i witnessed one of them break character to joke around with a security guard. If you are going to move about the dance floor and talk to us in hopes of getting us hyped up and into the program, than at least stick with the act. I’ve been to immersion theater, and this is not quite there. Looked like the 40+ year old Cuban women liked it. Oh well.

I was ambushed by my brother and friends last night to celebrate one of their birthdays. «Hi Johnny!» We went to this amazing theatrical performance of which I knew nothing other than it had good reviews locally. I will not spoil the surprise so that you’ll marvel at this event as did I. The only thing I recommend is… feather boas for the ladies; bare chest for the men; and the biggest ‘fro wigs you can find for both sexes. ‘Nuff said. I’m not sure when it’s leaving town, if at all, but don’t miss if you can. Anything anyone else says about the performance is true, specially if they’re raving about it. P. S. — I love you K. C!!! ROFL after falling off my platforms.

Dress,. Drink. Disco. Without a doubt some of the most fun I’ve had in a theater(and I perform Improv Comedy, which I love!) Guide to surviving the donkey show: 1. Listen to your favorite funky classics all day 2. Tell people to keep yourself pumped for this awesome artistic experience. 3. Arrive to downtown about a half hour early and stop by a nearby bar for drinks. 4. Dress up! It will make everything better. 5. Wear comfortable shoes. 6. Free your mind before entering(the bar down the street might assist you with this step.) 7. Dance with the cast. 8. Enjoy the show. 9. Drive home safe. 10. Repeat steps 1 – 9 This was without a doubt one of the most epic, if not the most epic theatre experience I ever had. Make sure to make it out to this before it’s gone!

The Donkey Show has something for everyone; great disco music, booze, and half naked women and men. My family and I had a blast. I had no idea what to expect and I don’t want to give too much away. Just know this… –Do not bring the kids, no matter how«Mature» you think they are. –Bring comfortable shoes; you will be dancing the night away for about 3 hours. You can buy VIP tickets and just like at a regular club you can sit in the VIP section. –If you want to drink, drink before you get there. $ 18.00 for a drink… umm… NO. –Do not bring a medium to large purse ladies; otherwise you will have to check it in. Anyway, you can’t dance the night away with a giant purse. –Take a camera; they totally let you take pictures with no problem. –Dress up. Like I said I didn’t know what to expect. If I could do it again I would’ve totally dressed up. –Have Fun… It is a very interactive show, INTERACT!!! A great time was had by all; I hope this show travels to other cities.

The Donkey Show is a performance like none you’ve ever seen before. It’s a type of immersive theatre, so instead of being seated in the audience watching the show, you experience the performance all around you! Many patrons at The Donkey Show were dressed to the nines in their 70s gear, to match the theme of the show. There was so much polyester you’d think it was Halloween in Alabama. Please, nobody light a cigarette… Inside, it’s more club than theatre. Dance floor tickets grant you a pass to experience the club from the middle of all the action, but be prepared to stand, and dance, the entire time. The music is awesome, the sound system blaring, and the lights are a show of their own. Bring cash or credit for drinks and remember, this is a take on Studio 54. There’s no shortage of references to drugs, sex, and disco music so leave the kiddies at home. VIP is a good choice for older guests who may want to sit down at certain points throughout the show. Waitresses will serve you drinks and food from the bar. The show is envelopes the entire performance space, so you don’t miss anything when you’re raised up off the main dance floor in VIP. The performance itself is multidisciplinary wonder of song and dance, with a pinch of theatre and splash of acrobatics thrown in for fun. The cast did an amazing job and encouraged participation from the audience members. The vibe and energy throughout the show were stellar! Right on, man. Tips for enjoyment: Get there early, dress the part, bring an open mind, and attend the late show. I plan to go back before the show’s residency ends in September; it’s a far superior experience to regular clubbing in Miami!
