Celebrity Chef Series @ the Adrienne Arsht Center

Bourdain never ceases to be amazing. Funny, nice, the guy you want to hang out with later for a few drinks.
He is also very humble and respectful to two of his idols and friends. Listening to them banter was fun, it really gives you insight to what goes behind the scenes in a kitchen and the life of a chef. Its not all roses and rainbows.
Ripert seemed like he was going to be a stick in the mud but turned out to be very sweet and funny. I couldn’t understand much of what Pepin was saying, but when I caught a snippet or two he was quite engaging as well. A few sips of wine later and it was all schtick on the stage when they were cooking. Luckily we were up high so we could smell the delicious food they were cooking. MMMMMMMMmmm
A couple of cons… the sound was terrible and we missed half of what any of the three were saying. Considering the extreme accents of Ripert and Pepin, it was that much harder. The camera direction was TERRIBLE. We had to rely on the screens to see much of what was going on, and they were all over the place but never where they should have been. We didn’t get to see any of the work Ripert was doing, they mostly kept on shooting Pepin from the front while he drank wine.
The individuals and the interview however were delightful.

Great event and the only disappointment I can convey is not being able to try some of the delicious looking dishes that the two French culinary masters came up with
Anthony Bourdain gave the audience exactly what they came for. He has a wit and charm that makes ladies want him and the guys want to be him
Pepin to me, was the star of the show He was very funny and engaging Ripert seemed a bit reserved and let Pepin control the stage
Some of the more interesting tidbits were finding out that both Chef Pepin and Ripert married Latinas (Even the best of palettes agree that Latinas taste best… they have flavor)
Pepin’s favorite dishes that his wife makes are arroz con pollo and black beans
Some of their favorite restaurants to eat while in Miami include Prime 112, Casa Tua and Michy’s
Bourdain burned Guy Fieri
They all pretty much dislike Chef Ramsey and his schtick
I laughed a lot and got really hungry

I had the fantastic and rare opportunity to see Bourdain, Pepin and Ripert live and in person — Sorry folks but until you can prove to me that there is life in other planets, these three guys are the best in their own class in the whole UNIVERSE !
So three major stars come together with something and I have the opportunity to be there and listen … what an amazing experience.
What truly inspires me most about this event, is to hear each and everyone say that were simply following their passion since a very early age– they all took different roads and invariably ended up being superbly successful.
Their uncompromising commitment to excellence and having gone through extreme abuse from their mentors, they have come out on top and chosen to learn from those experiences and show the world how things are really done with respect and positive reinforcement.
It is nothing short of awe inspiring to see the universe’s best chefs presented with some random food items and see them prepare the most delicious dishes without missing a beat or losing their sense of humor.
Pick up their books, read up on them and if you are ever faced with the opportunity of seeing any of these superstars take it ., at whatever cost — listen and learn — My only regret is that when I am exposed to this immense talent, I sadly realize that I am not worthy …

i loved loved this event, so different than my same ol same ol friday nights! and thank Unilocal so much for the comped tickets!
emily did a great job describing the show and i agree with everything she said, so i wont go into much detail!
i literally LOL’d with her description of the host, lorena. omg she was a bit over the top and tried a bit too hard to take the limelight away from the 2 stars of the night, daisy and ingrid.
the show is basically like «inside the actors studio» for chefs followed by a live cooking demo. when they began cooking, omg, it stirred up a big appetite. wow that food smelled good!
one more thing when we got there and got our tickets at will call we were upgraded to stage left row bb, we were right there. it was awesome!

First of all, I would like to thank Unilocal for the tickets for this event. But I was bit disappointed with the event.
This is the first of a three-​part Celebrity Chef Series. The first included Daisy Martinez and Ingrid Hoffman. The second will include Anthony Bourdain, Jacques Pepin, and Eric Ripert. And the third includes Emeril Lagasse.
My bf and I are big fans of The Food Network. What’s not to like? Awesome chefs, awesome recipes, awesome food-​making, and AWESOME shows!!! Oh, and Alton Brown too!
So when we heard some celebrity chefs were coming to Miami we were IN!
I LOVED Daisy Martinez and her spunk! She was the HIGHLIGHT of the night! She was hilarious! Making jokes and salsa dancing across the stage. Awesome! She is the host of the Food Network series Viva Daisy!
Ingrid Hoffman, was a bit more reserved. To her credit though, she said she suffers from lupus and was having a bit of pain during the show. She is the host of Simply Delicioso on the Food Network.
Both chefs prepared food during the show. I preferred Daisy’s presentation because, despite a few technical problems (she didn’t know how to work the stovetop), prepared everything from scratch and all in about 15 minutes. She made cachapas, a traditional Venezuelan dish in honor of the interviewer. Ingrid Hoffman made a shrimp dish but had some of the elements in her dish pre-​made.
Now, to the bad part. The interviewer, Lorena Garcia. She is a chef as well and has her own segments on both Telemundo and Univision. She is undoubtedly very talented, BUT can we say ANNOYING??? She took a very «Hispanic Television» approach to interviewing both chefs. And, yes, I get that she was trying to rouse the audience but… annoying. She was not funny despite her efforts. I think they could’ve selected another interviewer.
This is really the main issue I had with the show. Both chefs seemed to be a bit taken aback by her methods of interviewing.
I do hope they choose better hosts for future shows. Other than that, it is always fun to watch and learn from these culinary masters!
