I sometimes have to camp out around this area, and one of my favorite go to for vegetarian fare is Oriental Bakery. I normally come here for vegetarian kibbeh, vegetarian grape leaves, falafel, hummus, soups, etc. It is priced moderately and the food is pretty good. Now, this is primarily a grocery store with mostly Middle Eastern goods. Here you can find lots of canned goods, cookies, pastries, dried beans, rice, bottled goods, etc. Then, you have the bakery part, which basically is rows of breads, sweet breads, baklava, etc. I seldom buy baklava but I have tried them and they are good. There is also a side room with household goods, pipes, decorations, etc. It is a well rounded grocery store overall. Of course, I don’t come to here for groceries. I come here for the hot food, as I stated above. I sometimes pick up, and I sometimes sit down. There are a few tables, and there is always people eating here. Around the tables you find fridges with imported sodas, juices, and drinks. Like I said before, I normally get the vegetarian stuff. I love the lentil soup, with pita bread and some homemade hot sauce(ask for it!). I also get the falafel with rice/lentils and salad/tabbouleh. And the hummus is awesome. All this with many imported sodas to wash down your food. You will love this place. Finally, this place is open on Sundays, and they have hot food even on Sundays. I don’t know why I feel compelled to tell you this, but they have food on Sundays. By the way, there is a small parking area in the back. The street is metered, probably never enforced, but why pay for something that is free. OK then…

I feel bad for rating OBG lowly having only been here once — but let me preface this saying that I’d come back and be willing to up my rating if my experience is different in the future. I get there around a half hour before closing, and when I ask initially, I’m told the kitchen is closed. No problem, I keep on looking. 3 minutes later, I see a man behind the counter putting together a customer’s order. At this, I ask another employee if the kitchen is really closed(because all I wanted was some baba and soup, really). Upon this my order was taken and I’m made to feel like I’m special because they tend to not do this for customers(but you were putting together a carry out order in front of me, bruh.) I’m not sure if it’s a matter of the fact that prices are better if you get combos, if I was duped because I clearly said that this was my first time at OBG — but I’m more than surprised for what I paid. For a small cup of soup, a little hummus, a little baba, two pieces of dessert from the bakery section, and 3 pieces of pita(which I was told was ‘free’) I paid upwards of $ 17 dollars. I didn’t buy anything by the pound, literally it was all for side-portions. Nothing is itemized on your receipt(not surprised) so I asked the cashier for a breakdown. I’ll be back because I’ve heard great things and I’m hoping that the lunch specials offer better value. But definitely won’t be back for groceries, getting individual items, or visiting anytime near closing time.

Best homemade pita in the city. Ali, the owner and baker is a sweet kind older gentleman that makes bakes everything himself. He bakes pita bread all week long and I usual get there when its going out of the oven, warm and yummy! He bakes all the desserts on the weekends. Ali practically lives in his small modest store. In his youth he was top chef in the Middle East at a fancy hotel. Great olives, oil oil, rose water and baked goods. Excellent lunch items. Love this place in my hood.

We can’t get enough of this local hidden gem! From the daily specials to the extensive line of Middle Eastern groceries it’s a spot every foodie should discover. They have a deli counter with the best hummus, falafel, feta cheeses and platters for eat in or take out. On your way out don’t forget to stop by the bakery counter and pick up a couple of pastries, the rosebuds are especially delicious!

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet. I’ve been coming here for about five years when I’m in the mood for Middle Eastern /Greek food. The location itself serves as a speciality grocery store with ready made food in the back, including gyro, shwarma and other delicious food. I’d advise you to stop by and grab a quick bite and take home fresh, imported feta, which cost a fraction of the price at Publix, which doesn’t carry fresh feta. Also, try the lentil soup. Blows away any lentil soup I’ve ever had in my life. Miles apart from #2!

Such a cool spot in my new hood. Whenever I want a quick, affordable and tasty lunch, I head here. The falafel platter lasts me two days(as long as I can show some restraint). On the side, I usually get hummus, baba ganoush, or the cucumber and tomato salad. Warm pita, hot sauce and pickles are also a must. The market itself is super international and I love wandering around to see what I can find. If you’re a baklava fan, it’s really delicious here and hard to resist when you’re checking out. Service is friendly and fast. I’ll definitely continue to frequent!

This is a great neighborhood market that makes daily specials and the regular Middle Eastern food. One doesn’t come here to eat only, but too transcend to another place and even time. The food is good, the market items are always interesting, the people are great, and the experience is unique. Did I mention they bake their own pita?

Food and sweets taste good. The grocery is expensive just because, well, because it is imported from the middle east? Tbh having food items and stuff coming from the middle east does not justify the high prices of the items sold in this bakery.

BEWARE! If you are buying grocery items from this store, I suggest you consider somewhere else. My wife and mother in law(of Middle East descent) were in the store and got RIPPEDOFF. A lot of their products do not have prices on them and no employees know how much they cost, then you take them to the register and encounter things like $ 12 lb Feta(for what they said was the cheapest kind), $ 5 labne, etc… etc… when the owner chimes in. I’m sure it’s a different price for different people. This compares to what would be $ 3 lb and $ 1.50 for labne where my Mother-In-Law buys it all the time in Los Angeles. We will definitely NEVER be going back here again. Also, the receipt is not itemized, just one fat amount so you don’t know what you were charged for, how many, etc… pay close attention. BEWARE! BTW, this place is not Syrian or Armenian, it’s Palestinian

Friendly neighborhood middle eastern grocery store with a small food court serving up authentic, delicious freshly prepared foods and baked goodies! They have a frozen section with halal meats, pies, pita, etc. and they also sell European candies, like Kinder, Ritter, and some British brands. At the food court, there’s the option of getting a pita sandwich or a platter with meat of your choice. The platter comes with 2 sides and pita, the portions are quite large, so I recommend getting the pita sandwich if you’re not that hungry. Their baked desserts are a must try! Try one of each and decide for yourself. You can tell everything is made with care and love, so you really can’t go wrong. The Turkish delights are… delightful! The mini-roses were amazingly flaky and light and not too sweet. Baklava was excellent.

I may not know much. But I know my hummus. And this place offers some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. I’ve started more recently to stop here for lunch. Delicious shawarma and falafel platters, with generous portions of excellent sides(including said hummus, baba ghanouj, and a chick pea salad whose name I am unaware of). The family who runs this store is also very friendly. Miami needs more of these places offering high-quality, diverse, yet inexpensive, food.

This is my go to place for Middle Eastern food, at least once a week. I am always welcomed with a smile, the food is consistently good and very inexpensive. The kibbeh platter with two kibbehs two sides is the best. The dining room shares the same space with the supermarket and bakery, and this place has been around forever with hardly any remodels, so expect a casual, authentic albeit rough environment.

The Oriental Bakery & Grocery was recommended to me by my dear Marilyn at my Chiropractor’s office across the street. I had driven by the OB& G about 100 times and always just assumed it was an Asian spot, totally forgetting the«Orient» also refers to the Middle East. So when looking for lamb one day, she recommended to pop on over and check it out. Well it just so happens that I was completely starving that day and had no groceries at home. The original plan was to get food to eat right then, then to head to a grocery store. But, when I walked in to the delicious smells of the food counter, my hungriness took over. I ordered baba ganoush, Safeiha, hummus, falafel, lamb and Shawarma from the hot bar. Yes, all of that. Family of 4? Nope just for me. They also have a fridge/freezer full of prepared foods that are already made up, so all you have to do is to pop them in the oven and toast them — perfect. I wished I knew the names of all of these yummy foods, but not yet. I stocked up on a ton of little pastries and breads and meats. Needless to say, I did not need to go to any other grocery store after my stop here. The hot food lasted me all week & the cold items lasted even longer. If you want to stock you house with something quite different than your usual groceries for the week, the OB& G is your place! Now if you are just hungry for lunch or dinner, you are also in good hands at the OB& G. They have a variety of daily specials and a hot bar. The service is friendly and fast and every single thing that I’ve order from here is freaking amazing. Just yesterday I had a falafel craving and popped in for a falafel sandwich. This falafel pita totally blew my mind. It was jam packed with falafel and sauce, in a fresh toasty pita pocket. Here’s an interesting little tid-bit, I was offered some hot sauce for the falafel sandwich & of course accepted. When I got home and tried a bit of the hot sauce on the pita and my mouth was on fire! I had never been offered hot sauce for any Middle Eastern dishes before, but this little bit of hot sauce has basically changed the way I’m looking at half these dishes I usually order! I’m not sure that I loved it on the falafel, but I am looking forward to trying it on some of the meat dishes. The OB& G is tucked away from the world, almost under the end of I-95. You have to be a Roads neighborhood regular to know this place, since it’s just not a place that stands out too much. The prepared food is awesome, the grocery is awesome and the Feta cheese selection is awesome. Basically, you can’t’ go wrong with anything from the OB& G!

Always in search of exotic foods, I finally stopped in during lunch hour. The deli counter wasn’t as well stocked as I’d hoped. The older gentleman working was very friendly, however, he was jumping back and forth between the deli counter and the cash register, trying to help everyone at the same time. Random people were sitting or standing around. I couldn’t figure out who was next in line to place an order & neither could the owner/manager. Somewhat discouraged, I just asked for some eggplant dip to go. I love Lebanese style eggplant dip, but this stuff was, like, Greek yogurt. Maybe this is what Syrian eggplant dip is like? Someone please educate me. As far as groceries are concerned, you can get bulk spices, sweets, grains and condiments, as well as some canned goods and cheeses. Prices are pretty high, I can order this stuff waayyy cheaper on . I did pick up some carob molasses. A teaspoon of this stuff in your coffee gives it a great chocolate– hazelnut flavor. Then there are the baked goods: breads, spinach and meat pies, sweets. Picked up this cinnamon Macroon(not to be confused with Macaroons), not knowing what to get, since I don’t like Baklava. Ueber sweet and tooth ache inducing sticky, not my thing. I wish they had fresher dates and maybe some produce. Whole wheat veggie pies would be great, so would dairy free eggplant dip.

When I walked into this bakery/grocery, I was pleasantly surprised. It was not Oriental. It was, in fact, Middle Eastern. In the mood for baked goods, I purchased baklava, and it was very pleasant, just the right amount of sweetness. The crust was also flaky, and it only cost $ 1.07. There are also other Middle Easter goods if you don’t want baklava. If you want real food, they also sell falafel, salad, and other food items. I will definitely come back here again to try more stuff. The baklava I tried really hit the spot.
