Loveeee this bakery! It’s all around one of my favorite places to eat. From the breakfast to the desserts, you won’t be disappointed. The prices are also unbeatable, the amount of food you get is worth every penny! I’ve quickly become a regular here and the staff never fails to give a heart warming welcome. I would recommend that everyone give this bakery a try!

This has quickly become my go-to bakery in the area. And there’s plenty to choose from. Their breakfast is absolutely INCREDIBLE! That’s really the main reason I come here. You’ll get a full home-style breakfast platter with THEBEST(seriously) bacon and café con leche in town. This place is truly a gem when it comes to breakfast. Their bakery goods are good too but breakfast and the darn coffee is what keeps me coming back. Oh, forgot to mention that you feel like you’re robbing the place when you get your check. Prices are very reasonable, to say the least. You also come across a very interesting mix of people every time you step in. You’ll find all kinds of people who are extremely friendly and more than glad to chat it up. Always a great experience, never a dull moment. Do yourself a favor and stop in

This place is decent. Honestly, I only go here because it is literally right next door and my boss likes to make it a ‘meeting’ spot for him and I before we hit the road some days. It’s cheap, so you get the usual Cuban greasy breakfast. Nothing special, so I usually will try to eat before meeting my boss so that I just have a coffee. I do have to say, their pastelitos de guayaba are pretty darn good and go nice with the coffee.

On my first visit to Miami, I was told that I couldn’t leave without trying delicious Café con leche, so I’m glad I got my first shot here at La Gran Via. This place looks like a hole in the wall, but has the reputation of being the main staple meeting place for Miami Cubans for generations… or so I hear. Plus, you got to love a place that has a train featuring a picture of one of their baby kids as the store front logo. The service here is great. Most of the workers, don’t speak English, but they work with you to making sure you get what you need(ie pastries, change, coffee, etc) and on your way. The Café con leche here is delicious! Very creamy and smooth with enough caffeine to get you going, without feeling jittery. I tried the guava and coconut pastries, which were flaky and tart. All of which made for a great light breakfast, including the ridiculously cheap price tag on each(only paid ~$ 2 for coffee and 2 pastries). Would love to check this place out again on my next Miami trip.

How has Unilocal let me down on this one? Never before have you guys let me down like this! How can you not LOVE this place?! What the deuce is up with these negative reviews? have they changed owners since you last dined in, previous to me finding this place? Practices and policies? Flan recipes? Addresses? Stats. 1. Open 24 hours. 2. Service as sweet as apple pie. 3. Free wi-fi. 4. Dirt cheap prices. 5. and most important thing here. AMAZING flan. One of the best flans that I have ever tried and I LOVE flan. This flan alone would win them a 5 star rating from me. But there is more. There is so much more friends! Gluten-free desserts abound at a from-scratch Cuban bakery like this one! Like meringues. Ingredients: egg whites, cream of tarter and sugar. That is it. I came to this bakery several times during my stay in Miami. This is the cheapest cup of Joe that I have ever bought in my entire life. A cup of espresso(café Cubano) cost me only 59 effing cents! You too could take advantage of robbing this place blind by buying a cup of their coffee. What in the hell are you guys doing at Starbucks?!! Did I not just say that a deep, dark, rich cup of espresso, stamped with the official approval of this espresso expert, will only set you back two quarters and nine pennies?!! Go and get you some. Mercy it smells good in here! The bakery bread smells wonderful, like vanilla cake. Cuban families are coming and going with arms filled with bags of fresh-baked rolls on the cheap. Students are sucking the wifi up through a straw and finishing their thesis for the crazy cheap price of? Two quarters and nine pennies. I am using my Spanish to order the flan de leche(milk flan) and a coffee while I use the free wi-fi to say hi to you. The flan comes in a round tin attached with a clear plastic lid and can be pointed to under the glass. Flan, or crème caramel, is one of the most common desserts in the Latin world. It came originally from the border of France and Spain. Ingredients: sugar, eggs, condensed milk, vanilla. That is it. –Gluten-free. The absolutely charming proprietors of this establishment always smiled at me and went out of their way to accommodate me, try to understand my terrible Spanish or my terrible English etc. I came in once for coffee to go and got an espresso with a lid on it and about five cute little plastic shot glasses. Not quite as good as «The Art Of Freedom’s espresso. It seems a Cuban thing to do, to break up your espresso into little drinks. Neat! I saw a local come in and ask for«the usual». Out came a fresh pressed Cubano.(Ham, pork and cheese sandwich) It was huge! About $ 5. In your face Subway! Beautiful birthday cakes are available for order. Slices of all-that-is-decadent and sweet will tantalize and tempt you from beneath the shiny glass. Drinks from the self-serve refrigerator are only $ 1. Fresh squeezed orange juice($ 2) makes a sweet mom-and-pop alternative to the corporate bendejos at Jamba Juice. Three words will keep you coming again and again. And then you too, will be smitten and follow your bakery crush up with a five stars review of this place. Flan De Leche. Why does this, my favorite bakery in Miami, one of my favorite bakeries in the world deserve five stars? Location.(5 stars) Service.(5 stars) Food. 5 stars) Services.(5 stars) Drinks.(five stars) Value.(one millions stars) But that is not why you will give them 5 stars too. Flan de friggin Leche!

I live nearby for this bakery for beyond years and up until recently i have stop liking this place. I would come almost every weekend to eat breakfast which was two eggs, ham or bacon, fries, toasted Cuban bread with butter and café con leche and juice all under $ 4. Everything was made good and the pastelito would be fresh and tasty. Now, it’s somewhat different. The pastelito taste nasty and the service is super slow. Also it’d open 24⁄7. I went once after the club to get something to eat. Bad mistake, it took almost 30 mins for a pan con bistec. It’s just not the same bakery as it once was.

Sorry, but not even it being open 24⁄7 can save the ratings. CONS: — Sloppy and careless service. Woman seemed to enjoy being on the phone than anything else. And no, it was not for business. — Coffee was just okay — when made right. — The stuff in the display case didn’t look that appealing — and I’ve been to many Cuban bakeries. — Remodeled? Renovated? Where? It’s still a shabby hole-in-the-wall, in my book, save for the exterior. Just do yourself a favor — head over to Versailles. Avoid.

In search of some good dessert after lunch, my two partners in crime and I stumbled across this little bakery. One of my friends chose a churro. I guess she didn’t know that’s what it was, but she liked it. I don’t have any more details though. I had no idea what anything was, so I chose something that appeared to have caramel on it, as I love caramel. Once I got it home and tasted it, I realized that it was cheesecake. It certainly was not the best cheesecake that I have ever had, not even close. Actually, I did not feel that it was worth the calories, so I just picked the caramel off the top. My other friend decided to be Mr. Adventure and order this pastry that was kind of bright yellow in color and in the shape of a cone. Once he took a bite, he spit it right back out. He said that it tasted like the dough was just saturated with overly sweet sugar water. I asked him if it was similar to those desserts that Indian people make(they have a name, but I don’t recall), and he said that it was exactly the same, and equally as disgusting. So, that’s what he gets for trying new things. I would not suggest that anybody order this pastry, however I refused to taste it. I do have to give this bakery a small amount of praise because the prices are VERY reasonable. My cheesecake was about $ 1.50, which is insanely cheap. I love it! Will I go back? Nope.

The thing I love most about La Gran Via Cubana is that they’re the only little Cuban joint that actually believes me when I tell them I’m from Spain. hEllO, I’d rather be Eurotrash than Latin American. This delicious Cuban spot is much cleaner than Las Palmas(which I’ve AlsO reviewed), and the walls are covered in posters for specialty cakes. I’ve never eaten their cakes. I’ll only eat cake on my wedding, and that’s only if the cameras are on me. Luckily, gays can’t get married yet, so I don’t have to worry about that day just yet. The empanadas here are particularly large, and the croquetas are tiny. They also have a wide assortment of desserts, like flan(I actually had two bites yesterday) and tres leches. I’ve been known to get their inexpensive breakfast special of eggs, café con leche and cuban bread. You can get it with fries and meat. If you’re known to… eat those things… The inside is usually clean, and the staff is bilingual, so English-speakers fear not. They can communicate with you. The only bad part is that since its in Little Havannah, whenever I roll up and walk from the parking lot to the car in my tight jeans and D&G high-tops, all these muscular Latin men whistle at me and call me a papi. hEllO, don’t cat call unless you’re gonna buy me breakfast. For Lent last year I gave up dating construction workers and I don’t plan on falling back into that trap. So, if you’re in the mood for good Cuban food on calle ocho(8th Street), then try out La Gran Via Cubana. Gracias por su visita! This has been a Review by Fulgencio

i feel this place lost its charm since they remodeled it. now it doesn’t fit with the rest of calle ocho no problem with the items which were pretty standard, but i’d rather go somewhere with a more authentic feel
