I used a Groupon and was extremely happy that I did instead of trying to pay full price for it. The prices seemed high for the quality of food. Would of rather went to a Olive Garden or even a Taco Bell for that matter. The waiter was rude and acted like it was a burden to serve us food. The bread was stale. The food is really not worth the price. All in all was a negative experience.

The restaurant was bought by new owners, the name is now Carribean Grill. Miami Springs locals and regulars are not too happy about this. I bet Mr. Holleman’s is upset. Just wanted to post it was a wonderful atmosphere and what made it was the Karaōke on Friday nights and the regulars that came. We hope that it stays open So there it is, it is now closed. The rumors were true and hearts were broken in Miami Springs..

knew that there was a new owner taking over and thought that the new cuban food menu was in place. Turns out that they are still in transition for the next 3 weeks or so. Service was very poor… saw that only one or 2 waitresses were trying to serve the entire restaurant. Took over an hour to get our food. I had shrimp and burnt/undercooked pasta. My husband had burnt chicken fettuccini alfredo. No waitress or manager came over to see how/what we needed. While we were eating, we saw several tables send back their meals. Waitress tried to apologetic tried to offer us free dessert but gave a 10% discount. Needless to say scared to come back and try it again… What a shame there is one less dining option here in Miami Springs

I bought a groupon and ate here. The fielt was amaZing! It took about 30 minutes, but it was worth it The décor isn’t modern, but the food is excellent. My friend had the shrimp fettucini and devoured it. Great find, great food. The bartender was heavy handed with the liquor, as well. SOCRE!

We had a party of 8 and we arrived on time for our 8pm reservation. We were asked to wait so they can set up our table. After about 20 minutes, I see them setting up a table for us. Another 10 minutes pass, I walk up to the hostess and ask if they are ready for us. She says she was told not to sit anyone because the kitchen was 15 minutes behind. So we would have to wait 15 minutes to get seated. She must have seen my face of anguish because she immediately said«We can get you seated and started off on drinks.» So we did. The water guy brings us water in plastic cups and throws straws at us. We didn’t understand what was going on. We continue to wait without menus. Finally, we are given menus at the request of one of us. We place our orders and we wait. Thankfully, they brought out some bread because we were famished. I ended up ordering a glass of Cab while we waited. I’ll tell you… the glass was HUGE for just $ 5.50. That’s a plus. Finally, the apps arrive. Coconut shrimp, tomato and mozzarella, and calamari. Meh. They were ok. An hour later, the food arrived. Food was tasty. I’ve had better though. The churrasco is probably the best thing on the menu. Portions are decent. About 30 minutes later, the desserts arrived. Order the Crème Brulee for dessert. Overall, it was an experience — a 3 hour experience. What made the night better was the waitress’ great personality. I’d say she is the one that gets all the stars of this review. We tipped well but I think if we didn’t have the Groupon, we probably would have left before we were even seated.

I gave it a 4 out of 5 star because they didn’t have the sweet potato mashed potatoes that the reviewers so raved about. The service was good for Miami. Being a New Yorker I have very high standards. Also, having worked in the restaurant business and work in client services i only expect the best when i’m a customer. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and i liked that. The Crème Brulee was mmmmm yummy! I had the NY Strip butterflied with the Potatoes baked in cheese and cream(forgot the name) but they were to die for! Oh the coconut shrimp and crab cake was delish too! We had a groupon for 4 and saved $ 50.00 I recommend it if you want to have a nice date night!

The food is very good. If you purchased a groupon it’s for a sit down dinner not take out. Stop being SO cheap that’s ghetto! It clearly states that on the groupon dinner sit down. The whole point of a groupon is to introduce new customers to a restaurants that is new or starting up or older restaurants that want to bring in new people. You pay $ 30 for a $ 60 meal and you complain. Sorry, but I just found that to be really annoying. It’s a restaurant that is old and could use remodeling this is all true. It’s dark and needs light and some new fresh paint with color. It’s also true that there is no hostess. However with that said, the food is always on point and always delicious. The wine servings are generous, actually very generous. I’ve been there several times mostly for lunch since I work in the area and the waitress and bartenders are really nice people and you groupon people never leave a tip! Here’s a tip leave a tip cheap grouponers! Give them a chance food is good.

I purchased a groupon, which included 1 appetizer, 2 entrée’s and 2 glasses of wine. When I drove up to the restaurant, there was no large crowd and it actually looked a little dated. I thought it was closed. I would suggest investing in some exterior tables and nice urban landscaping. Once inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was nicely decorated and we were greeted pleasantly by our waiter;seated promptly. Our glasses were filled with waiter and the experience got better from there. We tried the Crab cakes for an appetizer. I would give them a solid B. The crab cakes would have been better had they used the lump crab, but nevertheless, they were still good. I had the Rib Eye steak with the peppercorn cream sauce with a side mixed vegetables. The steak was served medium plus and was tender and cooked just right. The peppercorn sauce was especially nice and the peppercorns added a nice kick to the sauce. For dessert, I had the Taramisu, which was a nice ending to our meal. I would recommend coming and enjoying a nice meal, especially if you can find a groupon.

I bought a groupon for 4 meals. I walked in with a friend and told the waiter about the groupon. He asks, will the other two join you. I said no, but I will take the other meals to go. He says I cant do it. Fine, no problem, I will order two meals and forfeit the other two. He says no. I say, ok bring me four meals, we will eat them. he says no. I, left, never will return. Dont waist your time.

OOO dear sweet baby JJ in the manger! I have never had a better piece of meat INMYLIFE. My 10 oz filet was so tender at a medium rare finish that I didn’t even need my butter knife to make my way through it. My partner in crime feasted on the au poivres(a finely cooked ny strip with peppercorn cream sauce to make you cry). Wednesday night scene was slow and somber but the service was served up with a smile and the food was damn delicious. Granted stuck in Miami Springs but deserving of Gables storefront. Thank you Holleman’s! You are my hero.

The hubs and I Grouponed the heck out of this place. Nice little way to turn what would almost surely be an expensive Anniversary dinner into a $ 30 «fine dining» experience. Sue me – I’m a cheapskate. Firstly, this place is in a nice neck of the woods. This part of Miami Springs feels cozy and quiet and parking is a cinch. You’re surrounded by locals enjoying their neighborhood and a casual, but special night out. I’m sure you feel the«but» coming. Wine starts at $ 10(for) a(generous) glass. Did your eyebrows just raise? Cause mine certainly did. I ordered the lamb which was frankly, a bit tough and stared with major food envy at my husband’s filet. Drool. The crab cakes were good, and service was warm. The restaurant also shares a wall with it’s bar which had karaōke night going on. There were some poor song choices. It was somewhat less than romantic. Not sure we’d be happy if we’d paid full price – but that being said, if you’re a Springs local, you should check it out some time.

4 of us went there one Saturday evening. First Impression: Highly negative. There was no hostess around whatsoever and we waited until 8:20 for an 8:00 reservation to be seated. There were several other people there that were highly agitated about the wait. There was also a lot of sad faces on the diners. Weird. Service: The service was a bit slow, but this is no way a reflection of the waitress that we had. She was very friendly, attentive, and knew the menu well. We suspected that the problem was in the kitchen. Expect a 1.5 to 2 hour meal. If you are impatient, you will complain. Ambiance: The karaōke in the adjacent bar was not befitting a family steak restaurant. It was way too loud and there was not adequate separation with the eating area. The back seating room looked better, but we were unfortunately placed in the main room next to the bar and the annoying renditions of «Dancing Queen.» Food: The appetizers looked fresh, and seemed okay based upon appearance. Unfortunately, the 3 ones that that we ordered were very under-seasoned. The steaks were pretty good. I think that they cook on the low side; so if you order a medium rare fillet, expect it to be rare. Overall: Mixed opinion about this place. We went with a Groupon coupon. The waitress did not care(in a good way) about the criteria on the coupon(which specified a certain number of appetizers/entrees, certain prices, etc) She said we could spend the coupon value on anything that we wanted. She was nice about that, so we tipped nice. Waitress gets an A, Steaks get a B+. Everything else gets a C-.

I came here to redeem a groupon deal and the photo displayed on the groupon was like WOW! I want that juicy steak!!! The website also is like WOW, but once inside and the food, not that great. Walking in to the place was like Jules F. said, «A step back…» Although, the steaks were good(New York Strip and Filet Mignon), I suggest the New York Strip(more juicer). Other than that… Meeehhh The Karaōke Bar next door was a little distracting. So 3 stars it is, I’ll give it a second chance, and maybe that time I’ll take advantage of the Karaōke bar next door.

Walking through the door at Holleman’s is a step back into a time when Applebee’s wasn’t a chain but a «fancy restaurant» in a small town. The standards of food were just«different.» Air Supply and Journey piped over the stereo and white paper adorned the tables to jot down our plans for world domination of the year 1982. I’d love to give at least 3 or 4 stars for perfectly sweet and capable server, Nelie, but the food was just that bad. She was great, but… First — the wine list was okay, the french onion soup, house salad and crème brûlée were pretty good. But, they’re known as the Steak & Seafood house, so I have to come down pretty hard on the rest. Tuna Tartar app — seemed like they took all the randomly cut chunks that didn’t make the tuna filet entrée and heaped them together in a round… flesh was turning grayish and thick connective tissue throughout all the pieces made it impossible to take a ladylike bite.(This had been given positive reviews below so I threw caution to the wind and gave it a try. Yikes. Had two bites, and had to push to the side.) Steak — covered in some thick, commercial grade sauce. Somehow it was dry and chewy even though the color/texture appeared to be a perfect medium rare. Snapper — Menu read«Pan Seared with Garlic, White Wine, Olives, Tomatoes, Capers, Fresh Basil, and Scallions«- I received soggy, breaded fish covered in a extremely thick & large serving of tomato sauce wherein none of the other ingredients or flavors were identifiable. Really disappointing and inedible. I really wanted to like this quaint blast from the past and it’s friendly staff, but sadly just couldn’t.

Please take this review with a grain of salt, it may not be as wonderful or fabulous as I say it is. Here is why: I was home to Miami for a weekend trip to sadly go to my grandmother’s funeral. I was told we had dinner reservations at Holleman’s. I had never heard of this place in Miami Springs and didn’t think it would satisfy my Unilocal-snobbiness. However, at the luncheon a lovely lady went up to share a story. She told of the days back in the 1950s when my grandparents met her parents at none other than Holleman’s. This was the hopping place to meet others apparently and the bar was the cool hangout. Now fast-forward to today’s day and we had the private room for our family dinner and it was perfectly private and the waitress was absolutely great. Service was quick and helpful. She made recommendations and everything was how you’d expect. Food was even better. Appetizers of crab stuff portabellas and stone crabs were a delicious way to start the meal off. And the glazed ahi tuna and other seafood meals I tasted were quite tasty too. Dessert was a great crème brûlée. Just what I needed to end the day. Thanks Holleman’s! PS Only complaint is karaōke was not a special touch — I only wish it was soundproof from the private area.

My husband & I recently dined at Holleman’s for dinner. We arrived at 7:00PM and were the only souls in the dining room. My mind was telling me to run but we had a coupon, so our wallet was telling us to try it. I ordered a Filet Mignon with a twice baked potato. It also included a cup of French onion soup. The soup was ok. Edible but could have easiy been Cambell’s. I ordered my steak medium and it came out med-well to well done. The potato was good though. My husband ordered the steak & shrimp whick he said was just ok. The pesto mash potatoes were good but a bit heavy on the pesto for our taste. For dessert we ordered a Crème Brulee. This was served piping hot! The ramekin was hot and the crème was hot as well. I was able to literally peel the top off, so I assume that it was previously torched then re-heated. Our server offered a diiferent dessert which we accepted. We were served dry Strawberry Cheesecake(from Costco maybe). We gave up on dessert at that point. Service was friendly and our glasses were never empty, so I gave them credit for that. Otherwise I would rate it 2*. I don’t think we will be returning any time soon though.
