I was in the area for a layover from Boston going to Cuba with my university. A few friends came across this place after a long day of travel. Perfect place to go to after a long day of travel being situated by the airport. The open air atmosphere really adds to the experience. The food is a good value and a variety of beers from parts of Latin America. The menu is diverse. However, on my way to Cuba and back, we had stopped here and I ordered the same. I ordered the special Cuban sandwich which is 2 dollars more then the regular and a basket of chicharonnes. All the food, with a beer, and the open air creates a nice atmosphere to be in. Will totally come back when I’m in the Miami area. Highly recommended.

I love this place. Great drinks specials and the food is amazing. Since it’s a liquor store too, you can pay $ 6.00 and drink your bottle of choice there.

Highly recommend this place. It’s like something that Guy Fioretti would find. It’s a hide gem waiting to be found. So how do you make a croquette sandwich taste better than a croquette sandwich? Well Chef Ruben figured it out.

We are staying at an airport hotel and needed a close by place for dinner. The reviews were so good we decided to give it a try. A bit intimidating from the outside at night– small parking lot, counter seating, mostly Spanish spoken here. Very casual with good food and friendly service. We came back on our return home for a second time. Great sandwiches — my husband had the special with a gazillion ingredients — had to take half home. Delicious ! I had homemade soup and fresh salad the first time, shrimp creole the second time. Again excellent. Staff works hard to please, food is good! Happy hour 3 – 8 pm on beers. Prices are more than reasonable. Get transported to a different place –if you’re up for something different than chain food restaurants

I started dining at Airport Café and Liquors years ago when I was doing Medical Billing for a company called Elderly Health Home Care, Inc. which is located in Miami Springs. I would call them on the phone, order my breakfast, and walk on over to either pick my breakfast up or I would just stay and enjoy it there. The place is small but offers plenty of seating options. You have literally three seating options to choose from. You can sit at the dining counter which is like half open-air dining(al fresco) allowing the outside breeze to swoop right in, you can sit at the tables, or you can sit at the«bar counter» which is located in front of the liquor shelves that are stocked with the world’s finest spirits. I’ve had lunch here a few times and I’ve also purchased liquor bottles(Johnny Walker, Grey Goose, and Patron to name a few). I’m glad I got the chance to finally have dinner here. I had the 14oz skirt steak with a side of veggies and a house salad. It was delicious! The food here is prepped with lots of love. The food here is really good and always made to order. The women(staff) have always been helpful and they really take pride in what they do. Their customer service is superb. I ran into Reuben an old high school friend in here one day and it turns out he’s the owner of the restaurant/liquor store. It was great seeing him and knowing he was doing well. Now Chef Reuben is a reality tv star! He appeared on the Food Network Channel to become«The Next Food Network Star». Chef Reuben now also has a dessert line called«What the Flan». Delicious flans that you can enjoy on-the-go. These flans are«good to go» like the Taco Bell Crunchwraps. Chef Reuben is also known for creating his«sandwich of the day». Everyday he will come up with an extravagant sandwich and call it the«sandwich of the day». Come during lunch to enjoy these creative masterpieces. Thank you Airport Café & Liquors for not being a typical café and liquor store.(They also offer craft beers and tobacco products). I recommend and encourage everyone to visit some day.

ALWAYSFINDOUTWHATTHESPECIALFIRST!!! If you don’t like it — then look at the menu. Wow — this chef is a genius with food. Today was my third day in a row having lunch here. From the outside it looks like a run down liquor store — but inside there are happy fast servers and the juiciest food!!! The Cuban sandwiches are delicious — and you can order single serving Tequila, Vodka or Gin to wash it down with! Today I had the burger special and a real sugar Coke. Oh and have a Cuban coffee too!!! For lunch get there by 11.30am or you may be too late to get a seat.

I’ve been following Chef Reuben on Instagram and his mouthwatering photos instantly drew me in. While this restaurant looks very unassuming and ordinary, I can assure you it is neither! We went on a Sunday afternoon and had the pan con bistec and vaca frita. Growing up in Miami, I’ve had my share of each of these dishes and these rank up there as the best that I’ve ever had. The pan con bistec was an enormous portion, and the meat was properly seasoned and tender. The vaca frita was also a tender, good cut of meat and done perfectly. The highlight for me was the side of maduros. Most places, you can tell these are precooked or frozen; not the case with Airport Café! I could taste the freshness of the plantain. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. Multiple people came by, acknowledged and greeted us. I can’t wait to go back and try another one of daily specials. This is definitely a hidden gem in Miami Springs.

This place is hilarious — typical Cuban place– about the food though… delicious congri(Moros) n I’m Cuban so I know Cuban food. They probably cook it with lard … And that’s OK by me :)

The Cuban sandwich was loaded with meat and tasted very good. I’ve had better, but it was still very good. My wife said her Palomilla steak was great, along with the black beans & rice, and sweet plantains. I tried it myself, and it was great. My Carne Asada had an open flame(charcoal?) taste that was outstanding. Not sure how the meat was marinated, but the flavor was so good. My red beans & rice were very good, but I liked my wife’s black beans & rice better. Clearly, Chef Reuben knows what he is doing. Great place!

OMG! I fell in love with this place. This is a restaurant and a liqueur store in one, by the airport. This place is busy constantly but worth the 5 – 10 minute wait. The place is decorated with different signs of the airport, magazines and etc, a fun spot. Pop music is playing constantly over the conversation of other guests. The chef, which is the owner son, which is an absolute love is amazing. He came by our table and asked us for drinks once we were seated. He literally is running around the place just like his staff. Shows that he is a hard worker and a good boss! He recommended his special of the day… DORITOCRUSTEDMAHIMAHITACOS! You can not pass that up so we ordered that and a churrasco. I love the fact that all the red meat is angus and certified! It’s great quality and you can taste it! The tacos were to die for! This guy can seriously take his skills and open up his own high class restaurant in south beach charging high class $$$. But he doesn’t, he keeps it here at a reasonable cost! The Moro which is rice and bean combination is to die for!!! Like I seriously can’t get over how good this place is. KEYPOINTS: homemade food at a reasonable price. You can’t go wrong PLEASECOMEHERE… like NOW!!!

Simply put, when you come here a few times, your not only a regular, you’re family. I simply can’t get enough of this place. Reuben has done an AMAZEBALLS job refreshing the menu, while keeping everything ridiculously affordable. The entire staff are super friendly, possibly to a fault because they don’t want you to leave! LOL — follow @ChefReuben on Instagram and you will spend your entire day post 10:30 am daydreaming of his daily phenomenal daily sandwich creations. My personal go-to here is the Churrasco and the chicharonnes — oh and the Empanadas Colombianas, and the picada! Want a place to just relax in a totally laid back, come-as-you-are, judgement free zone with the feel of Latin America still-in-the-US-but-could-also-be-the-islands only in Miami place? This is it. Buy a bottle from the liquor store, pay for the corkage and pull up a seat with friends and grab a picada. Best 4 hours(yes, time flies!) you’ll spend. Truth be told, I’ve been coming here for several years now and I’ve refused to say anything on social media about it because it truly is a hidden gem — a secret of the airport employees and airport auxiliary service companies that frequent here. I’ve introduced folks and have them hooked from day 1 strictly by invitation because I don’t want to share it with the world. However, at the behest of my friend, I’m writing this so that others can benefit from what I’ve known for a long time. Airport Café and Liquors is one of THE best places to be!!!

Crews love this place for the reasonable prices, good food, and most of all the alcohol. From the looks of it, they have a nice selection of beers and even have a cooler you can buy your six pack from and take home, or drink at your table, can’t beat that!!! I had the special of the day, Bandeja Paisa and so did my captain. The best part for me was the deep fried pork belly. Rice was nicely seasoned, egg was nice and runny, the meat and bean side dish was tasty, the sausage was unlike anything I have had before, and then the plantain was a bite of sweetness. The beef was probably my least favorite part, but it was still really tasty. The only complaint came from a crew member who had his first Cuban sandwich from Cuba and mentioned that his bread wasn’t stale enough. It didn’t scrape the top of his mouth. He did eat most of it and took the one little piece back with him, so it must not have been that awful.

I found this place through Unilocal and I was sooooo happy I did. The specials looked excellent even though we didn’t get it. Me and my girlfriend had the ground beef with onions and peppers rice a ND beans and plantains. My other girlfriend had some sort of wrap which she said was delicious. This will definitely be on my list of places when I go back.

Great hole in the wall find. The mixed ceviche was light and citrusy. Nice chinks of shrimp, squid, octopus and fish. The mahi tacos in a soft shell were the special. Lots of food. They had a lime cilantro sauce and home fried onion shreds on top. The nacho cheese on the chips didn’t work for me but that’s ok. You can sit at the bar, a bar in front of the liquor wall or tables. The music is loud and Cuban. The cafecita was authentic and strong. The menu is in English, but lots of spanish to speak if you want. All in all, a very good find. I can’t wait to return and try other dishes. I checked out other plates and saw nothing I wouldn’t order.

Consistently four star food at six star prices make this place a no doubt five star dive. The regular menu items are always safe and comfortable like Linus’ blanket, but when you see something on the special menu that you think may appeal to you — like Mike, you just need to do it. The ladies who work here are always friendly and helpful and the chef is always quick with a recommendation and good word. I’ve sample everything from a Shrimp sandwich with Cheetos to the whole fried fish… much like the former Heidi Fleiss’ menu, I don’t think you can order anything that won’t leave you with a smile. Great juices and Cuban coffee as well!
