Tao Spa Miami

We are in Miami celebrating my friend’s birthday and we got massages at Tao. The massages were the best! Roland and Tatiana were very attentive and gave the best massages. It takes me forever to relax so we got the 90 min massage and we loved every minute. My friend loved the extra special attention for her birthday. They are not a super plush fru-​fru spa. What they lack in fluff and plush, they overly makenup for with technique. I have downloaded their app and will definitely book another appointment when I return.

Hands down the BEST massage I have ever received! I’ve never written a review on Unilocal but John did such an amazing job with my 90 minute massage, I feel compelled to share. I feel like a new person. He listened to what I wanted regarding pressure and he paid special attention to my problem areas. Will definitely be going back!

Absolutely loved my birthday massage (gift from my fiancé) at Tao spa. It’s not the largest place or in a posh miami hotel, so I have to say I was a little skeptical when I first walked in. But I couldn’t have been happier when I left. The bed was nice and warm and the aromatherapy was super relaxing! Music was perfect volume and style! John did my massage– I highly recommend him! The perfect pressure for me and he was professional and friendly. I could tell he was into what he was doing, he really cared and wanted to provide a positive experience. Nothing negative to say! I’ll definitely go back!

The management was very professional and my masseuse, Tatiana, was very excellent. They all asked me how my experience was going and were very responsive to my needs.

body was so sore and tight but it feels so amazingly relaxed after the massage. Aline did a splendid job and knew exactly where the knots were. thank you so much, except a missing shower cap everything was just so perfect. i loved what she did with my super tense neck and the hot pack she used on my eyes to help me relax.

I feel bad posting this review, but as someone who gets regular bodywork and loves massages, I’ve never before been in a situation where I was counting down the minutes for a massage to over. I actually stopped the masseuse 15 minutes early and asked him to stop.
I got at 75 minute deep tissue massage. I have no idea how to describe what I experienced here. The masseuse had a weird, staccato style that shook the whole massage table (with me in it!). The whole time, my head and face were being shaken, which was super unpleasant. I asked him for a more fluid style, which he responded by doing fast, quick movements (that still shook and pushed me around on the table) with no deep tissue pressure. About every 30 seconds, he stopped to add on an excessive amount of massage oil (which is unnecessary, and counter productive for deep tissue work).
At some point, I explained that he could still do deep tissue pressure, just please no shaking. And he then he resumed this odd, shaking staccato style. I tried to stick it out, but eventually became so uncomfortable I asked him to stop the massage short. I don’t know how to teach someone how to massage, but I strongly suggest this guy consider an alternate field of work or at a minimum, get some new training.
The receptionist who checked me out (full knowing that I cut my massage early) exhibited an amazing level of tone deafness, both when she charged me the full amount ($ 125) despite someone being clearly dissatisfied with the service, and then asked me if I’d like to leave 20% gratuity. Excuse me? Did you understand what just happened at your place of business?!?
Thankfully, I live in the Bay Area, where a relaxing, therapeutic deep tissue massage will run me significantly less ($ 110) and not leave me regretting my decision.

I very highly recommend Valeria for a deep tissue massage. She literally gave me the BEST massage I have ever received. I walked away feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I am fairly picky with massages and normally feel like the masseuse doesn’t massage hard enough. Valeria was able to apply incredible pressure and work out all my knots. I definitely will be visiting her whenever I come back to South Beach!

Roland was great. I ended up extending my treatment for another 30 mins.
The staff was very nice as well.

Had the best massage of my life at Tao Miami.
I usually have 2 – 4 massages a year, so I am not someone that speaks with a ton of experience, but someone that has seen enough to have a decent opinion.
Tao Miami is in a nice apartment complex, a little off of the beaten path in South Beach and more in a residential area, but definitely worth the trip if you are here on vacation or if you live in the area. From first glance, it looks like a shop you might see in a mall or the subway (if you’re from NYC) so it is a little tight in the reception area, but if you give it a chance, you’ll find this place is really awesome and relaxing.
We came for a couples massage and had Kallie & Nicole. Both of our massages were excellent. The oils that they used smelled great and the Signature Tao Massage was amazing. It was a mix of Swedish and Deep Tissue and a full body experience. We both left relaxed, loose, and feeling better than when we arrived, which is the goal of any great massage!

The absolute best message ever!!! Stumbled upon this hidden gem by a groupon I was given as a gift. I walked out of there a new person, recommend Roland to everyone. I am looking forward to go back very soon!
If you are looking for a good message I would go here before any other place/​hotel in Miami Beach!

Took my family here after searching online for a massage to accommodate 3 people last minute!!! My family and i were so satisfied!!! My mom and dad are so hard to satisfy and they said it was the BEST MASSAGES they EVER Had! the staff was so friendly and professional we will be back every time we are in miami thank you !!

This place is a hidden gem! Thanks to Living Social I got a great discount (as a first time customer), which made me give this place a try. It’s a cozy little spa with seriously skilled massage therapists. I got a full body deep tissue massage from Roland, the owner himself! It’s humbling to know that he not only runs the business but also works there as well. Needless to say he knows his stuff and then some. Very professional, tentative, and great at what he does. I’ll be coming back again for sure, and recommend this place to my friends and family.

BEST massage ever! I’ve had the best massage therapists in every city I’ve lived or worked in — NYC and San Francisco but this is hands down the best of the best! My therapist was Kallie and she was amazing at getting the knots out of my very tired and sore back muscles. The receptionist Corrine (spelling?) was so helpful from the first phone call to book the appointment. She is lovely and has excellent customer service skills. After my massage the owner of the spa even followed up with a phone call to welcome me to their spa family — outstanding client service! This is most definitely the only spa for me from now on in Miami Beach. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantastic customer service and phenomenal massage service.

I found this place on Groupon and after speaking with them, they offered me the same deal. When I arrived the staff was very friendly. I have a 5:30 appointment however i had to wait 15 minutes before I was seen, but it smelled really good in the lobby so I was enjoying that so I didn’t mind. The waiting area is small and is located behind the lobby at the Mirador, I would have not found it had I not been instructed to it but it wasn’t too far from the front. Once in the room, the therapist asked what i would like and followed my direction. I can’t remember his name, but he was very nice and i enjoyed it very much. I would go back assuming i got the same deal. I think the regular price is $ 110.00 which is a tad expensive so not sure I would go back for that price.
The only thing I didn’t like is that after my massage and before she even told me the total, she said the tip would be $ 25.00 and I said «no I’ll give $ 20». that’s a 20 percent tip on the regular price which is more than fare… so they actually wanted me to pay more than the usual tip already generous 20 percent and told me that’s what she was going to charge before even asking if i liked my massage. I didn’t like that.

This place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere was very relaxing, calming and the smell was therapeutic. I received a massage from Roland and I would say that it was the BEST massage I’ve ever had. He targeted all of the areas that I requested, he was informative. When I return to Miami I will defiantly visit Roland at Tao spa.

I highly recommend. I wish I could pack Tao’s up and taking them back to Maryland. When I’m in Miami again I’ll definitely be back to visit Tao’s Spa!!!
I’m from Maryland and was sold on getting some type of massage for relaxation and to relieve stress. I searched several Groupon deals and came across Tao’s so glad I did! I relied on Unilocal and the Groupon reviews and was comfortable with making the appointment. I was satisfied with the convenience of the spa’s location from my hotel was great. I stayed on Ocean Drive and the spa was only 10mins away!
ROLAND was my massage therapist I seriously think it was my best massage session yet. He’s very professional, informative, and is very in tune with his clients. He’s knowledgeable and just worked my stress points out. I appreciate his attention to the areas that I advised him were my trouble spots.
So so needed this treat!

Hands down the best massage I’ve ever had and I’ve had my share over the years! Dominique did everything right and I am normally not a fan of women masseuses. She knew exactly what areas needed the most attention and by the time I left I had forgotten that I was ever sore!

Went in to have a massage. Very friendly and inviting. Everything was very clean and smelled amazing. My massage was really great up until the end when it just seemed like if my masseuse was distracted. I noticed this despite my eyes being covered because I felt her stop in the middle of the massage every so often and not feel anything for a good 30 seconds until she started again. It really took away from my massage because I paid for 60 minutes and it seemed as if she was ready to finish after only 40 minutes. She showed very little effort in the last few minutes of the massage. This is the reason for the 4 stars. If it wasn’t for that, it would’ve been a 5 star experience.

Across the board excellence. Friendly, affordable and most of all, a massage with Rowland that I’ll never forget for all the right reasons… The front staff is friendly and just really fun people. No pretense whatsoever.
I can’t say exactly what happened because I was floating in a pool of warm bliss from the beginning Lemon woodsy aromatherapy to the refreshing peppermint as the hot compress was coming off my freshly steamed feet.
I got my ears massaged. EARS!
I can turn my head from side to side again with no clicks or pops.

I like it! I’ve gotten a couple of massages at Tao Spa when my regular masseuse has been unavailable and there’s a reason I keep coming back. There are a couple of things that keep me from loving it though.
I found Tao (formerly West Avenue Spa) earlier this summer after another marathon 7-​day work week after which I needed to relax. Compared to a lot of spas, they’re open later on Sundays which is helpful if your Sunday is a full day. Tucked away in the lobby of the Mirador condo on West Avenue, the rooms are very cozy, and I appreciate that the beds are warm and both masseuses are generous with the oil and pressure. The volume of the music is also just right; I walk out of there feeling all good and 100% again. Based on the massages themselves, I should be giving this spot 6 stars!
My main problem is the same problem I penalize restaurants for, and that is the automatic gratuity. They charge an automatic 20% tip; I am normally inclined to tip more, but as a matter of principle if a business charges me a certain amount of gratuity I won’t pay more. I’m old school enough to remember when tips were at the discretion of the customer and not an automatic charge.
The other complaint is partly on me, but still. I arrived to the spa 15 minutes late (work’n’stuff, plus traffic from the Western ‘burbs). I also called them to let them know I was running late. After finally settling back in after 7:20, my massage finished at 8 but was charged a full hour. That last little bit was off-​putting and why I’m only rating 3 stars.
