This unassuming hole in the wall café has amazing food! The empanadas are the best I’ve found in Miami Beach because I like a lot of filling and the crust to filling ratio is just right. They also have these thin sandwiches with ham and egg salad that they will toast for you. They remind me of sandwiches I used to get in Japan, so I’m not sure if everyone would appreciate them bc they are so small, but they make a good large afternoon snack. I saw a man get a hotdog and it looked really amazing so I will have to try it next time. For dessert, the coconut flan was a really great treat but I think they have a rotation of pastries too. The price is also so cheap(which you might not expect in that area!!!) I think it’s a plus if you speak Spanish.

So we walked into this place b/c the line at Panther Coffee was too long and I needed caffeine after our killer lunch at Burger & Beer Joint. For the 2nd time today, the original place we went was either closed or too busy. I’m glad it was. This place has a small time feel to it. Reminds of a small lil Cuban bakery in the middle of Miami or Hialeah. The lady behind the counter was very nice and make a killer Colada. What more can I guy ask for? Check it out if your in the Sunset Harbour/Purday Ave area of Sobe!

Long before Sunset Harbour was full of Harbour Hotties and boutiques, Mimo’s was serving up its desayuno clientele from the towing lots and storage facilities nearby. Now, with so much buzz surrounding it, this tiny spot — just a counter and 2 picnic tables really — is seeing more traffic than ever before. The food is good, but not great. Highlights are it’s cortadito and the empanadas taste like they made by someone’s abuela. I recently tried the tuna empanadas at the recommendation of the owner(to be honest, I had never had a tuna empanadas before and the thought sounded really gross). It was a damn good choice! Their egg sandwiches aren’t so good(overcooked), so stick with traditional Cubano breakfast options — you won’t find any other options quite as affordable in this neighborhood now…

Amongst the budding Sunset Harbour hot spots, this friendly little gem is a go-to for an inexpensive bite. Few spots on the beach will serve you a hot, tasty breakfast with coffee for around $ 5. Aside from that, when craving an espresso, fresh spinach empanada and/or a Spanish tortilla, this is the first place that comes to mind.

Not sure I’m ready to call it a hidden«gem» yet but it is hidden and it’s very cute. The woman at the counter was chatty and made the perfect not-to-sweet café con leche. I look forward to coming back and trying the homemade pastries even though that’s very counter productive to my workouts(which are before I pass it)!
