High end classy dim sum with trendy asian ambience and cool tunes. No dim sum carts here as everything is a la carte with a full menu. Has a loungy feel and always memorable.

This place is soooo good. modern Chinese food. Super good quality. A bit expensive but worth it for sure. Try the beef tenderloin. Also the bar is a scene! And the duck pipa is great too.

Amazing restaurant good food Not to be missed. To be sure, you will drop quite a bit of money, but it is truly worth it for the dining experience and the food. First, this restaurant is located at the top of the Miami Culinary Institute, but students DONOT cook or serve the food. It is all professional staff. Some profits from the restaurant are donated to the school-so they give back. The chef’s tasting menu is how you can best experience the range of flavors and cuisine offered. The timing of the courses was measured perfectly for us. The ambience is tres romantic.

This is mine and my hubby’s all time favorite restaurant! They have the best dim sum I’ve ever had, amazing shareable entrees and delicious cocktails(lychee martinis are the best). Their service is also impeccable and friendly. Only regret is that we wish we lived closer!

Still the one… I’ve loved and visited Hakkasan for years(see older reviews for details), but I still hadn’t been in for brunch. I finally did and loved it! This brunch is not like anything traditional you’ve ever had before. It is a DIMSUM brunch offered on Saturdays and Sundays. I can’t remember the exact prices, but it’s somewhere around $ 35 per person. Unheard of for this kind of restaurant, on Miami Beach and at the Fontainebleau. There are two menus to choose from and we chose the Yum Cha Prix-Fixe. You get all the dim sum listed below, one of the entrees, the dessert and one cocktail. They say it’s served family style, but that sounds confusing. It’s not really like that. Everyone gets one of each of the appetizers. They are larger than a regular dim sum portion you would get anywhere else, much more decadent, and perfectly executed with that Hakkasan finesse. DIMSUMAPPETIZERS Abalone with Chicken Shui Mai Crystal Boston Lobster Dumplings Alaskan Crab Meat Soupy Dumplings Black Rice Vegetable Dumplings Baked Black Pepper Beef Puff ENTREES served with choice of egg fried rice or steamed jasmine rice Crispy Pork Belly with Grilled Honey Char Sui Platter Steamed Red Snapper in Spicy Soya Bean Stir-fried Vegetarian Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce DESSERT:Mango Custard We were extremely full once we were done. I especially loved the beef puff and the red snapper. The dessert was incredibly sweet and sinful. I’ve always had incredible service, so I will not knock off a star. However, it seems that day the restaurant was having an issue with something in the kitchen(I forget– a steamer maybe?) and there was a very long time between courses. Someone did keep coming by to apologize, but it was beyond long. At one point, a manager came by and offered us another cocktail. Of course, we said yes… only to be charged for it at the end of dinner. Silly us thinking it was an extension courtesy since we sat there for so long. I know that’s not the Hakkasan norm. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt… this time. Overall though, everyone in our party truly loved the brunch. On my end, this will be on constant repeat. Anyone up for a brunch UYE?

Yeah, this is pretty darn awesome. Came for weekend dim sum today expecting ok good and tiny portions(happens when you travel from NYC) and this was definitely a pleasant surprise! The steam dumplings were solid. We decided we just wanted dim and ordered a la carte and had the: Chinese cabbage and shrimp 4.5÷5 Har gao(shrimp dumplings)4/5 Yellow fungus and chives 3⁄5 Scallop sui mai 5⁄5 From the fried dim sum menu we got the duck pumpkin puff — soooo good I would’ve gotten 2 more had I had room in my stomach And then a meat and preserved egg congee. The portion was pretty sizable, and the price while on the pricier side, wasn’t anywhere near what I expected — if you’re from my hometown LA, then this is absurdly expensive for dim sum and no where near anything your local Chinese seafood restaurant offers. But if you’re a transplant from NYC, then these are Chinatown prices with much better ambiance and tastier dishes — totally worth it. The service was fantastic and loved the ambiance, as always. I would say if you’re there for dim sum, just order a la carte and skip the pre-fixe. The total comes out about the same but you’ll be happier with the food.

The 4 star is for the food quality and price. The food is GOOD, definitely well above the chinese take out level. But for the price, it’s still lacking. We ordered the Chilean sea bass(a must have, portions very generous, meant to be shared), the crispy duck was well done! Satay chicken was below expectation, lacked flavor and wasn’t special, but presentation wise looked good. Overall I think it’s a good place, everything was clean and taste good, albeit very Americanized.

I haven’t been disappointed yet with any of The Fontainebleau’s restaurants. It’s just the kind of place where you have to try them all though… to be certain… or because they’re probably some of the best meals you’ll ever have. Hakkasan has a lounge feel to it, but still has enough light so it’s equally appealing for a daytime or evening meal. The service is great and everyone is friendly. It’s helpful if you have a reservation ahead of time and you can«check in» at the front of the restaurant. They have an extensive selection of drinks here and a few Asian beers which are interesting to try. They have some similar to American or Mexican light beers and a few closer to dark. We tried several dishes but my favorite has to be the selection of dumplings here. Each was so unique in their dim sum platter that it was a treat to try them and make comparisons. They were like designer dumplings, each with a surprising mix of ingredients from caviar to shrimp to vegetables. Absolutely have to try those! My other favorite dish was the garlic Bok Choy. We also split an sweet orange chicken dish in a cream sauce and citrus flavored desserts which were refreshing to our palates after all that garlic and soy sauce. If you want to try a lot of different flavors in a very cool environment, come check it out! It’s the best Chinese food I’ve had in this entire city.

Here we go again! Miami Spice month allowing us to try the exotic and the new. Hakkasan was in our crosshairs for a long time, since we like fusion/Asian dishes. I have dined at other restaurants at the Fountainbleau Hotel before and they never disappointed. Let’s go in steps: — The deco, lighting, music and«wibe» are very nice, 5 stars — The friendliness of the hostess, and the attention of our waiter was fantastic, smiles all the time, we really felt welcomed. — The menu is incredible, we couldn’t decide what to order, everything looked delicious and exotic. Thus we decided to go for the Miami Spice menu, and if we liked it we would come back in the near future to try other items(Peking Duck? Dumplings? yum!) The Miami spice menu is meant for two people, and it included everything they list on the menu, no need to pick and choose: Start — Bahamaian conch green salad Entrées — Steamed red snapper in spicy soya bean — Stir-fried beef with assorted mushrooms — Stir-fried back choi with garlic — Taro with preserved vegetables fried rice Dessert, choice of: — Coconut panna cotta, passion fruit drizzle, toasted coconut — Mandarin mousse, almond cake, citrus salad Here we made a mistake… we were three guests, and the menu is meant to be shared by two guests. So problem 1: the salad was a two person salad… instead of bringing us two 2-person salads we got one, surely too small for all of us, which was disappointing… specially because the salad was very good … gee… what amount of money did they save by only bringing one salad? We started to wonder about the main entrees… would we get a 2 person portion or a 3 or 4 person portion? The entrees had a decent size for the three of us, but we will never know if we got a 2 or 3 or 4 person portion. We ate everything, plates were clean, no need to put in the dishwasher. Maybe it was a 2-person entrée set… But the important point is how the food tasted… and here I can assure you, they all were excellent, highly recommended. The deserts were also very good, but I wanted something more«asian», anyway… Summary: the taste, presentation and flavors of what we ate were top notch, five stars for sure. But the portions are a bit small and the prices are fairly high, so I had to stick to 4 stars(plus the salad blunder was not nice). Service was fantastic. Hint: when the Miami Spice Menu is for 2-persons, and your group is odd(3, 5 etc.), order one Miami Spice set and get a dish from the regular menu, in this way the portions should be Ok and you have a chance to get a dish that might surprise you. I will come back to order from the regular menu. I’m looking forward to try the Peking Duck, since I had that dish in Beijing(ex-Peking) in China(at a restaurant noted to have one of the best Duck dishes in the city), and also at the Tropical Chinese Restaurant on 40th Street which was phenomenal(recommended as one of the best of Miami). The challenge is on! Cheers!

Much like Tao, Nobu, etc., this is a really trendy, overpriced Asian food restaurant. Also much like Tao, Nobu, etc., thankfully the food is at least decent. When my friends tried to make a reservation, they were told that our large group could not be accommodated, so two separate reservations had to be made. As a result, we were seated at 2 tables. That was kind of a bummer. Here’s what my table ordered: Dim Sum assortment — If you have regular access to dim sum, don’t bother ordering this, as it is ridiculous to pay this much for basic dim sum. Foie Gras Dumplings — This was my choice, because I am a cruel human. Sorry, geese! I just love foie gras. Soft Shell Crab — I generally love soft shell crab in any form, so this was good. Much like the foie gras dumplings, however, it didn’t seem like anything that special. Orange Chicken — Yeah, I’m not joking. Even though I was with a group made up almost entirely of Asian people, this was ordered. It was fine, but I’d sooner go to Panda’s. Salt and Pepper Squid — This is a pretty basic Chinese dish, and there’s nothing inventive about Hakkasan’s version. But hey, why mess with a classic? Spring Onion and Fried Rice — We ordered this in part because we had a vegetarian in our crowd, but since we were going to be out drinking that night, I am really glad we had some rice. I don’t think the other table ordered much in the way of carbs, and this proved to be a mistake later. :p Haka Noodles with Mushrooms and Chives — This was another vegetarian-friendly dish, and I enjoyed it. For dessert, we ordered the Mango Custard and Warm Chocolate Fondant. I think the majority of my table preferred the chocolate dish, but as I do not care for coffee ice cream, which is what accompanied it, I ate more of the mango custard. The custard really just tasted like the kind of mango pudding you can get in any Chinese restaurant. Our server was a bit odd. He was friendly yet sort of aggressive and pushy. Even though my review sounds largely negative, I am giving it 3 stars, because I’m trying to keep in mind that for a good number of people eating here, the food may seem rather fun and exciting. Also, I am factoring in our rather tame ordering. I wouldn’t rush to come back, but I wouldn’t rule out a return visit, either.

First Miami Spice experience has me pretty impressed. We were surprised to find out that we get EVERYTHING on the spice menu. ok bring it on! We also ordered the Seafood Congee from the regular menu which came out first. The rice porridge came in a large bowl w/perfectly tender pieces of shrimp, scallops and squid(w/a side of crispy wontons & scallions) very heartwarming and tasty. Next came our dumpling platter w/2 of each of the following: Lotus root chicken shui mai, Chinese chive shrimp dumplings, wild mushroom and truffle dumpling, sugar snap pea & shrimp dumpling… all of them were very good but the shui mai was our favorite. Also, I should mention that we especially loved the milder of the 2 chili oils(mixed w/soy sauce we poured this on everything). Our server brought the crispy lemon chicken, noodles and baby pak choi next. While the noodles were ok, the chicken pretty good but on the dry side, it was the lemon reduction sauce and the pak choi that had us shamelessly licking our fingers for more. I couldn’t get enough of the lemon but I’m a huge lemon freak. Next up the desserts. Holy cow… they nailed both items: Mandarin mousse w/pieces of almond cake + grapefruit on top & Coconut panna cotta w/dried mango on top. Both of these were out of this world perfection. Not too sweet, light, heavenly bites of citrus and creamy coconut. I would pay for valet parking & walk through that huge hotel all over again JUSTFORTHIS. Ambience was dark and cool w/low key downtempo style music playing in the background. Our server was on top of everything from beginning to end. Our water was always full and he answered all of our questions w/a smile. Looking forward to our next visit from Fort Lauderdale!

Should have read the other Miami Spice reviews prior to going. Hakkasan is too overrated. It’s been on my bucket list since moving to Miami but I’ve always been a little weary of it since it’s extremely high priced for«normal» Chinese food. Located on 4th floor of Fountainbleau, I have to say that this entire atmosphere reminds me of any of the big hotels in Vegas or Macau– very grand and beautiful. Décor in the restaurant itself also lived up to my expectation of being located in the hotel. First mistake was that as a party of 4– we all ordered the Miami Spice menu. Don’t do this. All are shared plates between 2 people except for the dim sum(maybe?) and the dessert at the end. Dim sum platter– each got 1 piece of each variety. Not much of a platter… These were all good, but not phenomenal. My favorite was the wild mushroom and truffle dumpling. Lemon crispy chicken — texture of the chicken was fried perfectly, but didn’t care much for the taste– too lemony for me. Got 4 pieces. Stir fry– This was just ok, bland, no vegetables or meat. Bok choy– can’t really go wrong with Bok choy. Desert was probably the highlight of the meal. Nothing was horrible and nothing was phenomenal. Everything was just ok. Surprisingly wasn’t starving after the portions, my party was jokingly talking about having to go elsewhere to eat afterwords. Service I thought was subpar for a place like this. Someone from the kitchen brought out a plate and placed it on our table, and just as we were trying to examine what it was– the waiter literally swooped in(not kidding) from somewhere else in the room(he was not near us…) and just took the plate and placed it on the table next to us and went back away. No «I’m sorry this isn’t yours» or anything– just swooped in and placed it elsewhere. There were no plate changes at all — which I would have expected after the dimsum course where all are plates are doused in sauce. Understood that I didn’t get the full experience from only trying the Miami Spice menu, but plenty of other of Miami Spice restaurants I tried left me wanting to go back and try more. For Hakkasan, don’t think I would come back to try the real menu. Would love to try the other restaurants in the Fountainbleau though!

This is my second time coming to Hakkasan for Miami Spice weekend dim sum prix-fixe. Last year, they knocked it out of the park with their menu and I was excited to check it out again this year. It was definitely a notch down compared to last year’s Miami Spice(which served quality food with greater quantity) but I still had an overall enjoyable experience for exceptional service and the undeniably chic décor. The star of this year’s menu was without a doubt the desserts. The mandarin mousse was silky smooth and if beauty could be tasted, this would be it. I felt like I was eating a bouquet of of fragrant orange blossoms; the flavor was pure, not overpowering, with just the right amount of sweetness. There were 2 small almond cake bites and a sprinkling of mandarin bites atop the dessert – adorable! I’m definitely a chocolate dessert type of person so this was outside my comfort zone, but I can say that I enjoyed this just as much as I could have a chocolate lava cake. The coconut panna cotta was also a winner, with toasted coconut flakes and a passion fruit drizzle! Very creative combination and perfectly executed. For the desserts alone, I think this meal was worth the visit. The next best thing was the dim sum platter, which consisted of 2 types of shrimp dumplings, a chicken shumai(with caviar on top, oh la la!), and a mushroom dumpling. The quality was superb and I really loved each one, especially when dipped with the accompanying chili sauce. I also tried the stir-fried baby bok choy with garlic, which was delicious with just the right amount of oil. The bok choy was cooked to the perfect consistency, still maintaining its crunch and flavor. The two dishes I didn’t really care for were the crispy lemon chicken and the stir-fried soy sauce noodles. I like the idea of a lemon chicken but the dish just fell flat for me. They served it like a chicken katsu on a bed of lemon sauce reduction, but the fried breading just tasted mediocre, not light and airy like the consistency you get from panko bread crumbs. Also, the chicken was on the drier side. Then there were the noodles, nothing too special, I prefer the ones I get for $ 7.99 at a Chinese takeout. Next year, I hope they bring back a soup dish into the menu. You can’t have a true Cantonese meal experience without soup!

It is a disappointment! I would NOT recommend come here for Miami spice! I have been thinking of coming here since I moved to Miami, but I live pretty far from mid-beach, and the place is much pricier than the authentic Chinese restaurants I usually go to, so Miami spice is a perfect time for me to try their food so that I can decide whether this is a good alternative to my regular go to Chinese places if I want Chinese food at a more modern and chic restaurant. Well the answer is no. So their Miami spice dinner menu is a set menu, which means you do not get to choose anything but the dessert. The night started with Crispy Duck Salad, the salad comes with Arugula on top of chopped crispy duck. This dish is very well cooked, the duck skin is very crispy and the duck meat is tender and well seasoned, the Arugula very well balanced the dish as a refreshing appetizer as the duck alone might be a bit heavy for appetizer. Then it came to the entrée. One fried rice, one Szechuan beef, one bok choy mushroom and one steamed snapper. This was when the night started going downhill. The fried rice was really dry and tasted like nothing, even Panda Express has better fried rice. The bok choy mushroom was so oily and greasy that I had to dry the oil with FRIED rice. I have nothing to say about steamed snapper as it was simply plain steamed snapper. The Szechuan beef is fine, but since it is the only entrée that has some flavor, it is also the only entrée that we actually finished. Both dessert was good, the passion fruit one is the one to go for if you can only choose one. Eventually, how the Miami spice menu works here is also a bit confusing to me. So we were here as party of two, except for the dessert, everything else came in one serving to share. Don’t get me wrong, the amount of food was enough for two people, I’m just wondering that if you come in as party of one or three four five, how does it work, just wondering. All in all, the place failed for its Miami spice menu. Will I come back to try regular menu and dim sum? Well maybe, if I happen to be around the beach dressing up like I’m not going to the beach, or maybe if I happen to dress like that, I would just skip here to go to similar places south of fifth. 40⁄100.

E sempre saio querendo voltar.

Flashback to Spring 2003… Husband and I were in London. I was 6 months pregnant with 11 year old and really enjoying indulging in food! We went to Hakkasan and were so floored by the food and ambience that we went back again for a repeat dinner during our stay! This was before Hakkasan opened other outposts in NYC, Miami Beach, Vegas, LA, and 7 other locations worldwide. I have been to the Miami Beach location several times. Does it live up to those hormonal infused London memories? Not quite, but it is still excellent! This last visit was the culmination of a girls’ spa day at the Lapis Spa, at the Fontainebleau Hotel. So convenient to spa, shower and then be able to pop upstairs to dine. All of that«spa-ing» must have left us hungry so we ordered a Dim Sum Platter($ 28) to share and a Hot and Sour Soup($ 14) for each of us. The Dim Sum Platter comes with three varieties of Dim Sum. Each piece of dim sum was huge and delicious. The plump dumplings really do not need any sauce but I loved the chili sauce that was provided so I used that to dip(with everything!). Sorry to say, but the Hot and Sour Soup was quite average. One can get just as good hot & sour soup for a couple of bucks at any neighborhood Chinese joint. We were pretty full after the apps so we opted for one main dish and a rice. We chose the Crispy Beef Szechuan($ 38) and the Yeung Chow Fried Rice. The beef was thin and crispy, in a tasty sweet sauce… delicious! I don’t think you would find a dish like this in a local Chinese place in South Florida. It actually reminded me of a dish we get at Joe’s Shanghai in Chinatown in NYC. Of course, the Chinatown version is a much larger portion and much cheaper! The Yeung Chow Fried Rice was made with a homemade XO sauce and was also unlike the typical fried rice one usually sees. It had a multitude of textures and a very nice flavor. It was a perfect compliment to the beef. In the past I have had many other dishes at Hakkasan and they have always been delicious! The décor and ambience is quite special as well. You really feel like you are in much more exotic locale than Miami Beach. Service is top notch as well. Servers are very patient and treat customers well, without any attitude, just like one should be treated in a high end restaurant! Hakkasan is an indulgent treat. It is definitely on my list for Miami Spice next year!
