It’s actually really sad that I have not written a review for this place yet since I’ve been coming here for years. This place is conveniently tucked away one block from my work so I’ve put in MANY office lunch orders to the olé Harbor Bar & Grill over the years. They will never advertise this place, but this place is one of the BEST kept burger gems in Metairie… maybe even all of Jefferson Parish! I have been a fan of their debris fries and burgers since I first ate here. Their burgers ARE made with fresh(never frozen) ground beef that they get shipped in fresh each week. For this reason, it is the only bar and grill style restaurant that I’ll go ahead and order my preferred medium-rare burger temperature. I have not tried their signature ginormous galley burger yet, but I keep saying one of these days I’m going to give it a go when I have a partner in crime to help me tackle it! The regular Harbor burger is actually 12oz so for me I usually get the Harbor Jr. burger, which is by no means a consolation prize because it’s still a good size at 8oz. I also hear the fried chicken sandwich and meat pies are favorites. One of the best parts about this little place is they keep serving food until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights(they serve until 3am on every other night). I mean when your options are only taco bell, a diner, and the Harbor Grill after a night out… I’ll always choose the Harbor, no contest. They also have great outdoor seating, pool tables, gambling machines(which brings in a pretty interesting crowd), and the bartenders and kitchen staff are usually friendly enough. The only complaint I will ever have about this place is the bar gets incredibly smokey. It’s Jefferson Parish so I know it’s expected but, my clothes and hair literally REEK of smoke even after just sitting in the dining area(which is separate from the bar/smoking area). Other than that, it’s not enough of a complaint to deter me from being a loyal customer to The Harbor Bar & Grill :-)

Stopped by when I was in Meterie for professional reasons for a burger and beer before the ride home to make the trip worth while. Walked into the bar section instead of the restaurant section because I didn’t know there was a difference. Turned out to have been the right choice. Dark, tables, very unassuming bar. The kind of place I’d frequent if I lived in the area. The bartender was exceptionally nice and said they were known for their burgers so that’s what I ordered. Pretty good as burgers go. I’d go back! There were videos poker machines, a music system and everything else you’d expect. For kicks, I did walk in the restaurant part. Eh, a little fast food joint feeling. Go to the bar for the ambience. Great people and good food.

Best Hamburger ever!!! Been going there for 20 years. Always a consistently great place for food especially the burgers. 12oz or smaller version is 8oz.

Going towards the kitchen of this dive bar you would probably never think twice about ordering anything but behind the diner-like counter is one of the best burgers in New Orleans. You have the choice of an 8oz or the ridiculous 12oz or even more ridiculous the burger they call«The Galley». They have a great steak night as well for $ 10 with all the trimmings. One of the better stops in the Metairie area that is not a chain.

What Dan H said. I got the burger at the suggestion of my older son. In 6 months it went from $ 14.50 to $ 16.50. $ 2.75 for fountain drinks that run less the price of a cup is kind of steep. I guess that’s how they pay for the $ 10 rib eye«loss leader». The«galley burger» is alright, but when you tip like a restaurant, and the kitchen refuses to cut a hamburger in half it makes you wonder – «what, are you going to contaminate your knife?» It’s novel, but you can other places if you want a novelty, not food… Like Benihana or remember«anything goes»? What happened to those places, they went out of business… Pied piper pizza was novel. Fortunately there’s enough lunchtime drinkers in those office buildings. That crowd must knock the wind out of them…

This is a neat little neighborhood bar. It’s 21+ only unless you want to sit on the patio with your family, this is an adults only joint. There are a couple pool tables and a modern day«jukebox» to jam to some tunes while you eat, drink & play. My husband and I split the burger after reading about its size. We are grateful we did. The burger, however, was a disappointment. It was unseasoned and bland. We had high hopes but were let down in this regard. The drinks poured were decent and the place had a nice pop in business after the sun went down. It is super dark inside which added a more club-like atmosphere than a bar & grill. Overall, we will go back for a drink every once in awhile but we aren’t chomping at the bits to get back ASAP.

Found this place based on some reviews while we were looking for somewhere to grab a quick lunch before we headed home from a quick weekend trip. Hands down some of the best burgers we’ve ever eaten. Huge portions for the price, and friendly staff. Definitely would recommend stopping in, and we will be coming back the next time we make it back.

When I saw the description of the Galley burger I knew I had to do it. It was amazing! A great burger, a hot sausage patty, a huge buffalo chicken breast, three slices of cheese, grilled ham, and bacon. Others in my group got the regular burgers and they said they were terrific. But the Galley burger was great that day and the next for lunch! Service was a little slow but they are a small place with a small staff. Totally worth it!

Came in with my gf and ordered 2 entrees and 2 bottles of water. I was extremely thirsty and i politely asked the cashier if we can have the waters now after i paid for it. He said«oh man its gonna take me a while its all the way in the back. So i sat there thirsty as hell and watched him drink out of his bottle of water. He even made eye contact with me as he was chugging his ice cold water. Place is cool tho. Good burgers

The only thing this place has going for them is Kelly. The day they decided to get rid of Kelly is the day they lose mine(and many other’s) business. The owners are completely rude and the big fat one is just always sitting on his butt. The bartender(Krista) sounds like all the bleach she’s been using in her hair ruined all her brain cells when she talks. I don’t think she can sound anymore stupid. There’s only a couple of normal workers at this place.(kelly, Joey, Lacie) if it weren’t for these three, the harbor would be complete shit.

Reasonable food for a reasonable price. I personally got the grilled chicken po boy which was delicious. I suppose my only complaint would be that there was almost more bread than meat.

Wrapping up a quick visit, I hit the Unilocal app and searched for something local that would have a quick lunch available. Up came The Harbor Bar & Grill and only a couple blocks away! Sweet! Boasting the best hamburgers loudly from the menu, I decided to give that a go and test their mettle. Standard cheeseburger cooked medium and fries. I grabbed a seat and waited. $ 11 seemed pretty steep for a burger and fries, so my expectations were high. Now, let me say in my defense that I did not notice that it said«12 oz.» next to the burger. That’s a massive hamburger and when it arrived, it made me feel like a child to pick it up. CRIMENY, this was a big hamburger! It was, after biting into it, perfectly cooked to medium and covered in(almost too much) cheddar cheese. I practically forgot that the fries were there. I am ashamed to say this, but that cheeseburger beat me. Yep. I couldn’t finish it. I suppose I could have forced the issue, but then I would have left regretting it for the rest of the day. Good burger, maybe even the best. Certainly some of the largest.

Burger was outstanding however the appetizer plate left a lot to be desired and the chicken strips were fried in catfish batter. Yuk. I might have ranked 5 stars if we had only ordered burgers. the food was priced fair for the quality and quantity.

I got home late from a wedding gig and was hungry. My neighbor, who was outside, suggested this place. I got the Galley. The hugest burger I’ve had in a while. I had to share it. I had to, you don’t understand… unless you do, of course.

Great food great drinks great people! This place is really good you can get food at just about time. Open early and late. The«Gally» is great huge with great flavor! Most people are regulars where when they walk in the bartenders start their drink with out them even speaking. And to top it off some of the nicest bartenders and the hottest Ms. Lacie! Lol

This place has delicious burgers. My burger was cooked perfectly to medium and my dad’s burger was cooked perfectly to well. It seems little but I’ve been to so mNy places that can’t cook a burger. I like the angry orchard on tap and the other beers on tap seem good too. The food took a little long but i can’t be too upset since the chef was doing every job(he welcomed us, got drinks, took our order, made all the food, ran the cash register, and bussed tables). So I don’t think it’s a big deal. It was tasty and pleasant. All around a chill place to be. Will be back for craft beer night!

Well since I’m the Duke, I guess I should review it. This is a dive bar in Metairie that I never would have gone to except it is close to work and has been on the regular rotation where I work. It’s a great place to go espeically on a nice day when you can sit on the patio. Inside is a little … well divey, and the smoke can get in your eyes. But it is what it is. The drinks are very well priced and are generous pours. Finally the food is way above average. From burgers to gumbo, Jason, the owner and head chef, knows his way around the kitchen.
