The food was okay. They cut the fried green tomatoes on the thicker side so they were more sour. The biggest drawback for me was the delivery truck that blocked my car in for 10 minutes and wouldn’t move so I could leave. Not cool.

The wife and I come here regularly for lunch. Memorial Day was a special occasion, our son and his girlfriend became engaged. I ordered my usual chicken fried chicken(Mr Ed’s is famous for their chicken and this qualifies) wife wasn’t hungry so she ordered side of red beans and rice. Son ordered shrimp platter with steak fries and daughter in law to be ordered crab cake pasta. The chicken fried chicken was so undercooked it wasn’t edible. Wife’s red beans and rice was room temperature. Sons steak fries were frozen crinkle cut fries. Soon to be daughter in law said the crab cake pasta was«ok». She is a foodie and her father is a chef so we all know what«ok» means. The waitress was great and had a fully cooked piece of chicken out as soon as humanly possible. Wife didn’t tell her the red beans and rice was tepid cause she wasn’t hungry anyway. My complaint about the shrimp dinner? $ 18.95 with a choice of potato, one being steak fries and at this price they are serving frozen crinkle cut fries? Too pricey for undercooked and tv dinner quality food. Think we will take them off of our lunch rotation.

This was a decent enough meal, but less desirable than their reputation should have produced. Admittedly, I was there as soon as they opened for lunch, but as a chef, I know that decent prep is vital. My server was cordial, and it was a couple of her gestures that saved this one from being a 2 star deal. I will say this: the shuckers know their game and they were on it; my oysters were ice cold, cleanly popped, and not a single shell frag to be found. I tip exceedingly well for exceptional work, and you’ll wanna throw something in the fishbowl if you get these same two guys. My disappointment arose mainly from my own elevated expectations regarding the turtle soup, and having both eaten and created it all over this planet, I’m sure I’m a real bastard with my judgment. Anyway, I’m sitting there waiting on what a foodie friend from Florida told me would be a life changing experience, but when it arrived I could already see the lack of depth in the broth, and on lifting a spoonful, I was pretty let down because it was just plain… wrong. Turtles are tough and naturally need to braised in the liquid over time in order to both flavor it and to become palatable. This clearly wasn’t a concern of my chef that day, and it’s a shame that an animal, albeit farmed, wasn’t given a proper send-off, if you get my gist. Tough, chewy, all the hallmarks of the meat having been dumped into an extant broth, warmed through and then served. Nope. The server I mentioned earlier did a solid, though, when she asked if I wanted sherry, brought me a cruet, and for that small act, saved the nuance a bit, and increased her tip. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Sorry.

We, we’re looking for a joint for grilled oysters! This place not only had oysters that rocked but the red fish was outstanding! Great atmosphere and wait staff were super friendly and helpful! Great selection of food and great prices! I’ll be back for sure! Check out my food page on Facebook at Kam Finds Food!

Very good food. The chargrilled redfish was delicious! My mother had the soft shell crab that was seasoned well, not to mention a huge crab! Might I also mentioned that my husband wanted grilled shrimp instead of the menu fried shrimp, they were happy to accommodate! Very friendly staff. We will be back !!

Me likey. Great fried chicken in my first time along with some cold fresh raw oysters. Sat at the bar both visits. Second trip in was for a nightcap, Dirty Goose, but ended up trying a half dozen baked oysters too… Bienville and Rockefeller. Good Cosmos too. The menu is extensive and will return to try some more if the seafood fare. Oyster Po-Boy listed at $ 15.95 this trip so it better be great. Guy sitting next to me at bar had soft shell crab dinner and it looked very appetizing. Only sat at bar both times so no dining room experience but the vibe is New Orleans fish house style and vintage tunes in the music… Poor Side Of Town by Johnny Rivers came on. Plus!

I have been here many times but today was not worth it. Raw oysters as expected we’re good. Redfish with crabmeat was a dry tasteless, expensive and not pleasant to eat. Green beans soggy and chewy. Potatoes were OK .This information was conveyed to the waiter with a appropriate apologies. I’ll give them one more chance.

This is one of Metairie’s finest seafood places. The food is really good here. We come here for birthdays and special occasions. The crab cakes are excellent. My husband really likes the fish. Oysters both raw and char are classic. I can’t honestly remember what all we tried but I can tell you it is great food that makes a greedy family come back.

I’m not that good at writing these reviews, but I’d have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. We were greeted at the door and given a table promptly. The place is not cramped up with people, the music was good, and TVs everywhere! The people are very friendly and professional. We started with ½ dozen raw and ½ dozen chargrilled. They were possibly the best Oysters in the world! The server had told us that Mr Ed takes pride in getting the best Oysters that Louisiana has to offer, no processed or out of state oysters. You surely can taste the difference. The server suggested that we get the Blackened Redfish dinner topped with lump crabmeat. WOW! Nice piece of fish, you can tell it was fresh, and the crabmeat, some people try to pass off that imitation stuff, this was not the case. It was sautéed down in a butter wine sauce that was awesome. They even had a little side cup of the butter sauce with it. As we were eating, out from the kitchen comes this big platter sizzling, giving the whole dining room a wonderful smell. I asked the server what it was, and was told it was a Broiled Flounder. I think the reaction I gave along with the others dining, this will be my next meal when I come back. As far as the price goes, you get every bit what you pay for. If you’re going out to eat, price shouldn’t stop you if you’re intending on having an awesome dining experience. If you want to be cheap, go to Burger King. I will definitely be returning here, and I look forward to that Broiled Flounder next time.

The charbroiled oysters were excellent. Much better than Acme since not slathered in sauce. But honestly, that’s where I’d stop. The gumbo was cold with undercooked rice. The meatballs were good but the marinara would’ve been good had they not over seasoned it in an attempt to make it fancy. The breading on the pork chops was tasty but the many small pieces of bones in the cut was disappointing. The service was SLOW!!! The restaurant was full but not crowded. I frequently had to stop eating to actively search for the server and then repeatedly remind them of our request. For 4 adults and one child to eat without alcohol was over $ 120.

Absolutely Love this Restaurant! My husband and I have gone 3 times and have never been disappointed. From the oysters on the half shell to the pasta everything is excellent. Service is also something for them to brag on, very attentive but not annoying! Great restaurant we will be back!

My husband and I shared a seafood platter & it was delicious. The raw oysters were wonderful. My only complaint is the music. Too loud and too bubblegummy. 1950’s and 60’s — the kind you wish they wouldn’t keep playing.

Had an all-appetizer lunch today. Charbroiled oysters are still our favorites but everyone should try the oysters almondine and buffalo oysters at least once. Unique and flavorful, hitting all the right notes for both dishes. Followed it up with seafood martini and shrimp cocktail which were refreshing after the rich oyster dishes. Wine list is rather small but seems to cover most of the bases. We didn’t complain! But the best part of our lunch was the delightful service provided by Brandy Lee. Ask her about how she came by her name! We found the service and food some of the best in New Orleans. And the price is what we’re accustomed to paying for a high quality experience. We’ll be back!

Nice restaurant with good service. Hanger Steak with mashed potatoes & grilled veggies was just ok. I can’t believe there’s a Kraft single on there.(See pic) The meat was over cooked and the potatoes were under cooked. The veggies and gravy were tasty. The potato salad and gumbo were good as well.

This is a neighborhood spot that my family has been coming to for years. We love this place because we know the food quality stays consistent and they have everything you could want in a New Orleans establishment. The service is always fast and friendly. If you go during peak times, you might have a wait. But we have never waited more than 20 minutes before. As I have already said, everything you can get is good. The po-boys are delicious. The turtle soup is some of the best you will have. And they might have my favorite red beans in all of the Crescent City. One thing that someone in my family will typically get is their fried chicken. Since I don’t get down to New Orleans as much as I want, I stay with the seafood and other cajun specialties. But I have had it before and it really is great. Not greasy and perfectly fried. If you are in the area, this is a quality stop. You won’t be disappointed.

Well we’re back again for another job and I told my co-workers we had to go back to Ed’s. We all weren’t disappointed with the service, the food and the drinks. Had a Blackberry Margarita that was super. Had the Trout Almondine, with grilled mixed vegetables and red skin potatoes. Yum yum, another meal that hit all the marks. If your in the New Orleans/Metairie area stop in this little out of the way place. You won’t be disappointed.

Dropped in for Lunch after my co-workers and I couldn’t check into our hotel. The hotel receptionist recommended this place and gave us a coupon for free Bread Pudding… so we figured, what the heck! At first site this place looks like your typical Bar & Grill. I was kind of expecting over fried and greasy food. This was NOT the case. The Staff was VERY attentive in taking our orders and making our lunch enjoyable. I ordered the Stuffed Bell Pepper off their Lunch menu and substituted Cheese grits for the Mashed Potatoes. The stuffing was EXCELLENT, with bits of Shrimp mixed throughout it was mouth watering! The Cheesy Grits i found absolutely tasty and wish I had more. Before we finished and closed out for lunch we remembered we had the bread pudding coupon, so we ordered… WOW!!! Highly recommend the Bread Pudding!!! Very tasty with a touch of Bourbon in the cream… WOW. Plenty for your $$$ May compliments to the Chef/Cook for all the FOOD, especially the Stuffed Pepper and the Bread Pudding… YUMMY

Chargrilled oysters were overdone, which gave them a texture similar to chewing gum. My chicken fried chicken came with a side of canned greenbeans and mashed potatoes that tasted like instant mashed potato mix out of a plastic bag. My dish had horrible presentation which is the reason why I did not waste space on my camera phone. Will not return.

We went here with friends last week on a weeknight. I had been passing by the restaurant on the way to work and had it on my list to try one day. They wanted to go there, so we went. To start off, my wife ordered the charbroiled oysters which were seasoned with garlic butter and Parmesan, much as you would expect in a New Orleans seafood restaurant. She liked them. Not the best she has had, but they were good. I had oysters on half-shell. They were a decent size and not too gritty. For dinner my wife had the seafood salad with shrimp and crabmeat and avocado. She was a little disappointed in the salad. She didn’t really have a solid complaint, just disappointed. I ordered the fried catfish platter with steak fries. The catfish was an awkward size, not thin cut but thinner than you would expect for a filet. The fish tasted great. I won’t order the steak fries again as they got cold too quick. We had great service and the food was decent.
