I love their crispy fried chicken! The wedge salad is also delicious. I find the service to be friendly and the place is nice. The only complaint is the tables are quite close together. It’s a good meal!

My favorite spot for Mussels. They fix them with a light marinara sauce and I must say it was a great dish. Listed on the menu as an appetizer, the dish could easily serve as s main course. Served with a dipping garlicky bread, the mussels were the largest and freshest I’ve had anywhere. Other higher end restaurants that serve mussels should come here to learn how and when to serve mussels. Caesar salad with shrimp was only ordinary. Other family members got a bowl of gumbo and they were happy with the flavor

We came here for my grandmother’s 90th birthday with a large party. We were given the back room all to ourselves. I don’t remember the name of the room, but you enter, turn left and keep going. The group was about 30 people. The table was a strange situation with the tables arranged in a big U pattern. I ended up seated on the inside of the U with my back to the other half. That wasn’t really conducive to family conversations. The place was clean and we had a prix fixe menu for our sizable group. I opted for the white beans and hot sausage soup du jour. The beans were good, and in it I did receive a large portion of hot sausage. My meal was the veal parmigiana. The portion sizes are very large. My wife had the chicken alfredo and the pan fried chicken breast was butterflied and very sizable. My only problem was with my marinara sauce. It was definitely made with fresh herbs, as I bit into a small piece of twig. Not a problem, but there was a bit too much anice in the sauce for my tastes. The dessert was a bread pudding. Nothing special, but some pieces were cold. The servers did a fantastic job of making sure the orders were correct and all of the food coming out at the same time, and kept things on track. I know with big parties things are different quality and quantity than the regular menu. I will be back to try them in a more intimate party

So Disappointed. We were 1 of 3 tables that were occupied in the dining room on Monday night. Wanted 3 orders of red beans with ham shank. Told«no problem» we have 6 left. Waiter comes back & tells us there are only 2 left. 1 of us orders breaded chops instead & they were over cooked. Had to ask for waiter twice. Beans were cold & bar patrons were screaming at the television. Tried to support our neighborhood establishment, but we’ll never go again.

Porter & Luke’s has easily become a restaurant we have become a frequent visitor of. As a large restaurant, they have a high seating capacity with ample tables available for large parties. They serve southern cuisine here, so be prepared for some excellent white beans & rice, fried chicken, or fried soft shell crab! My favorite appetizer is a simple dish, the fried eggplant sticks with parmesan cheese and red gravy. My favorite dish is the pecan crusted catfish with stir fried potatoes and green beans. Our server was slightly forgetful; although we had a large party, mistakes are still not acceptable. Further, the prices are slightly higher than what I would expect to pay, so check out the menu prices ahead of time or just keep this tip in mind. My dining experience here was enjoyable and I recommend trying it out!

We went on a Sunday for lunch there were 8 of us I had reservations so we were good. Now in New Orleans there is always this one has the best fried seafood it’s just a given in a city known for its seafood. I have had some very wonderful seafood dishes and my favorite place where I go to get my favorite, soft shell crab has now moved to second place. This soft shell was fried to perfection crunchy and seasoned my mouth is watering just thinking about it. And then to top it off all I have to say is «Doberge Cake». This place is a must must must try. No one at our table had anything bad everything was excellent and I don’t give out excellent ratings. Hope the food and service stays top notch we will return again and again as long as it does

Great food and service. All members of my party of three were happy with their meals. Salads were delicious. The soup of the day, champagne shiitake, was very good. Entrées were well received as well. We finished with a Chantilly cream cake desert that was fabulous. Can’t wait to return.

Had a bit of a rough time getting my grilled chicken sandwich today. When it finally arrived cooked thoroughly it was very good. The rest of my group enjoyed the club sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich. The chips were especially tasty. I would give them another try.

The CREOLA Salad is «must try». Delicious! Metairie is full of dining establishments, but this one is consistent, and food quality is definitely a cut above. The servers are friendly, and don’t have«attitudes». Fried chicken is some of the best I had in a long time. Porter and Luke’s is one of my favorite Metairie spots for casual dining.

Great neighborhood restaurant. We tried the fried catfish stuffed with crab, redfish on the half shell, gumbo, stuffed mushrooms, pork chop, bbq shrimp and tuna stack. I would definitely recommend the bbq shrimp, the sauce was excellent, and tuna stack for something on the lighter side.

I’ve been wanting to go to P&L for awhile and finally did so tonight. Might be my new favorite place. First off, Brandy was stellar — attentive but not annoying, informative but not hyperbolic. The onion rings may be the best I’ve ever tasted. DH had the shrimp and artichoke soup and says it was delicious — just needed a few more shrimp. But the flavour was rich and creamy. I had the eggplant Vincent — and ‘wow’! It was awesome. The eggplant cup was fried so that it was tender all the way through but light and not the least bit greasy. The shrimp and crawfish filling was rich and creamy and mixed perfectly with the angel hair pasta. Soooo good. DH had pecan crusted catfish which was fried perfectly, light, fresh and delirious. Only negative comment was regarding the green beans that accompanied the catfish — «these could have come from a can». Dessert was the King Cake Doberge — a wonderful recommendation by Brandy — plenty for two with a cup of coffee. A great experience I am eager to repeat and share with friends.

The shrimp need more seasoning; extremely bland. The oysters had pearls in them; not good for the teeth. Salad had unfresh/wilted lettuce. Waited over an hour for food. Pork was small portion sized but had good flavor. Green beans tasted as if from a can.

Not a law firm, although the first names of the sons of one of the principals, Damiel Lichtl, is an attorney, but rather a remake of a longtime Metry/Lakeview residents’ FAVORITE restaurant, Zeke’s. An upscale, tasteful makeover reveals a calm grey wall treatment and a white washed/pickled look tile with sleek silver metal dining chairs. Carrying over the color scheme to the bar walls and stools, the dark cabinetry has a rich look with the super long bar topped covered in white veined granite. Chef Vincent Manguno will bring his talent, originally learned during his long tenure @ La Riviera and most recently honed @ Nuccio’s in the Harahan/River Ridge area, to the kitchen, reflecting a combination of traditional and contemporary dishes. Privy to the menu, look for the following: APPS — Hot, blue crab dip, Duck & Wild Mushroom Quesadillas, Tuna Stack, Shrimp Remoulade, Parmesan crusted eggplant, Fried green tomatoes, Crsipy fried catfish strips, and the pernennial Onion rings. SALADS: Ceasar, Cobb, Creole, House, Shrimp & Avocado, and Wedge SOUPS — Turtle; Du Jour — Gumbos and Soups SANDWICHES — POBOYS: Old fashion Roast Beef, BBQ Shrimp, Catfish, Shrimp, Oyster Combination Seafood, Meatball, Hamburger, Cheeseburger CIABARTTA or WHOLEWHEAT– Ferdi; Rootbeer glazed ham Shank Paninin; Chicken Pesto Paninin; Corned beef; Reuben; Grilled Portobello Panini. FAMOUS Half fried Chicken to order BOILED — Crawfish, Crabs & Shrimp ENTREES– Grilled Gulf Fish du Jour; Pecan crusted catfish; Eggplant Vincent; BBQ Shrimp; Filet; Grilled Chicken Breast; Fettucini Alfredo; Meatballs & Spaghetti; Eggplant Parmesan; Veal Parmesan; Chicken Parmesan; Veal Cutlet; PLATTERS– Catfish, Shrimp, Oyster, Combination Seafood: SIDES — FFs, sweet Potato FFs, Homemade chips, auteed vegetables, Potato du jour, Grilled Asparagus; Potato Salad(Fridays only) DESSERTS — Walnut raisin bread pudding; Doberge cake; Linda’s Merliton Crème Brulee; Sorbet; Abita rootbeer floa. The only drawback is sometimes the diner makeup resembles a geriatric home — a sad reality of the location population.

This is causal restaurant with some fine dining options that has been displaying a vigorous lunch crowd and more relaxed dinner scene. They have a decent private back room for meetings or events. The location in a strip mall on Metairie Road leaves a lot to be desired aesthetically but provides ample parking. This is definitely a vast improvement from the last restaurant in this space, Zeke’s Restaurant, that even Gordon Ramsay couldn’t save.

Born into a Cajun family, I feel like I know good Cajun creole cuisine! My mother is from Church point, La. And until tonight, makes the best fried chicken on the planet!!! Well momma, move over… Porter & Luke’s has the best Fried Chicken I’ve ever eaten in Louisiana! The crust was perfectly golden brown and crunchy, seasoned well with salt and pepper… I’m sure a few other spices and seasonings and served hot, right of the fryer! A definite must if you are seeking fried Chicken! DAMN, it was so delicious! A business associate and I also enjoyed the 3 wedge salad, the Chicken and sausage gumbo and the crab dip(I could do with out that) The service was incredible! Out waitress was friendly, professional yet personable! These guys knocked it out if the park! Well done!!!

This restaurant was really poorly rated in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised. The roast beef in the poboy was thickly cut and hardy. The vegetables in the shrimp and avocado salad were very fresh and crisp. The service was timely but not rushed. The lunch crowd around us was older, very respectful and quiet. Altogether, a good place to get a reasonable lunch made with fresh ingredients.

Well my brother invited my family here for a dinner and the first thing I do is go to Unilocal and read the reviews. I said to myself Oh NO this does not look good. I was shocked at the place. It is in a strip mall so first impressions are the reviews could be right. I was wrong again. The restaurant is very nice inside and once you enter you forget everything else. We had a large group of 14 and it was a Friday night. We were seated on time and we had to wait for one couple that was a little late. The server served our drinks and waited for the late guests. When we ordered we received our apps and dinners promptly. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We were splitting the checks up 4 ways and the server had no issues and was happy to make us happy. I look forward to my next trip to NOLA so that we can try more of the menu. Some times I guess the Unilocalers get it WRONG. I thought it was strange that less then 20 reviews on a restaurant that has been open for a while. Please give it a try. You won’t be sorry.

I have been here many times and used to enjoy the meal. The last couple of months it has been downhill. Service is beyond poor, food quality has decreased, and the overall experience has diminished… The new restaurant allure is gone. Tonight, the table had chicken breast, eggplant vincent, and pork chop. The eggplant was the saving grace. The pork chop with the«bourbon glaze sauce» was smothered in BBQ sauce. The chicken breast was 6oz with a couple potatoes and string beans for $ 16… Not even close to worth it. On top of that, the waitress was more interested in her smoke breaks than serving her tables. I would be quite embarrassed as a business owner. Despite the close location to home and work, I have given up on this restaurant for 2014.

My first experience was very average. I like the modern look and feel to the place. Nice bar area should make for a cool happy hour hangout. And they do have drink specials during happy hour. I ordered the chicken pesto panini, which I wouldn’t order again. It was thinly sliced(fresh) chicken breast with pesto mayonnaise. You could actually barely taste the pesto. I didn’t care for the mixed greens and tomato on the sandwich. It really was just a sandwich on ciabatta bread, not a panini as it is called on the menu. I’m used to a panini being toasted and pressed. It is served with their homemade potato chips, which again were average. The grilled chicken was inconsistent with the last visit(according to one of the people I was with). The chicken was one large thin grilled breast last time and this time was two slightly thicker pieces of breast. Very average, with a decent flavor and not too dry. The green beans were also different. Not sure if it was supposed to be different since it was the vegetable du jour and not a regular side. The portion was decent but not large by any means. In other words, no doggie bag needed. The house salad was fresh but nothing spectacular. The fried catfish po-boy is made with thicker catfish strips, not thin fried if that is what you prefer. I am not a catfish eater but one of the people I was with ordered it and said it was good. The french bread was crispy. The service was good. They did not tell us about the specials until we asked. I had to ask what the potato du jour side was. They did ask if we wanted bread for the table, which was a salad plate filled with little slices of toasted garlic bread. The bread was great. We actually asked for more and when they brought the next plate, they put it on top of the old plate, which still had a slice of bread on it??? They had no problem with separate checks. Drink refills were on time, although one person in my party had to ask for another beer. Also, they did not replenish lemon slices with water refills. I don’t believe we were offered dessert. I’ll probably go back. But as far as recommending I can only tell folks that it is «OK» but not great. They are reasonably priced. Their servers are decent but just need a little polishing.

Nice atmosphere, good lunch spot. Nice bar area as well and seemed to offer a decent happy hour so I might have to check it out post 5pm to scope out the crowd. The menu offers quite a variety and I would recommend to stick to the normal menu items. Anything that seems too adventurous has been a flop. I got a shrimp salad that was very fresh and huge! Big enough to split. The blue crab dip app is good but very very rich. I was there with a table of 5, everyone liked what they ordered and had to go boxes. We were in and out relatively quick during lunch rush. Our server was nice and on his A game. I would go ahead.
