This bar has been here forever. It’s a great location for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. No draft, just bottles. But I can live with that. For entertainment, they have a Golden Tee machine, shuffleboard, and a pair of dart boards, plus video poker machines. Signs around claimed they had Karaōke on Friday nights. Several TVs scattered were around. Jukebox seemed set on loud.

Not crazy about the«smoky bar room» environment, but you won’t find a better tasting hot roast beef po boy! Great sandwich and the wait staff was friendly.

I’ve been dragged here a few times for karaōke. I’m not the biggest fan of karaōke but if I’m being dragged off somewhere to do it then I will do it to the best of my super awesome ability to belt it out! I’ve never been here when it has been crowded and I’ve had to get a taxi to finally escape to where there were actually people as my friends won’t ever leave. I get bored pretty quick in here and have a limited karaōke shelf life as once I’ve done my performance and put so much energy into it I just don’t have much left to hang out with just 5 other people while they keep on and on doing karaōke til dawn!!! If you want a bar nearly all to yourself to karaōke this is your place.

I went to Gennaro’s with some friends last night, not really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had! I’d never sung karaōke at a small neighborhood bar, and I thought it would be weird, but I really liked it! The place was busy but not packed so we all got to sing a bunch of times. Jonathan is an awesome karaōke DJ. He knows his regulars and has a ton of songs. Seems like a really nice guy too. The main downside is that the drinks are quite sub-par. They didn’t even have any limes! Kinda ruins a gin & tonic. However at $ 3 you get what you pay for. Also as noted in another review, it does get very smoky and my eyes started to sting. Another plus is that there is tons of parking under the overpass.

Bear’s poboys are incredible. The Ferdie is the best. Tip: ask for lite mayo! Debris fries are great too!

I stopped in to check out this local spot and I met the«Regulars» at the bar. Cool folks & good drinks. They have a pool table &3 video poker games. Plus, they’ve got a cigarette machine, jukebox, dart boards, a golf tee video game & an ATM. The only negative is how smoky this place is. They have the ceiling fans going full-time but it just whirls the smoke around & around. The owner is Clay, and not only did he personally greet this 1st time guest, but he also gave me directions to a follow-on event.

*REVIEWFORBAR, NOTRESTAURANT* I didn’t eat here, I just came and sang karaōke. Actually, I came and sang karaōke here a BUNCH of times. Completely an amazing time. Jon, the DJ has a huge collection of songs that he picked up from being friends with other KJs in the area. The drinks are moderate, and they usually have heavy pours. This place closes somewhere between 4 and 5am which is awesome. Most of the clientele are Old Metairie folks none of which are younger than 40. Occasionally, you’ll have groups of college students/young professionals come in and sing, but either way it’s a fun time(provided you go for karaōke).

Okay po boys, but they close at 2pm now, what kind of hours do they keep? I had heard they serve breakfast but, still… twice I went to the bar side and it was empty. I heard all about karaōke nights but guess I went on the wrong nights.

First thing that needs to be clarified about Gennaro’s is that the bar and the restaurant are separate. Not that bar’s thrice weekly karaōke nights didn’t entice me to step in the door. I’m all for drunken asinine behavior. But the true reason my foot has a restraining order against their front door is the priveledge I experienced in being privy to the wait staff’s conversation. Whenall the yatty Dots Diner rejects started chit-chatting about how their antisocial ex-convict ex-boyfriends have made specific and detailed claims to a Romeo and Juliet view of love relationships… Which can only end in a violent fiery blaze of glory at their place of work. I hestiate. They serve poboys and stay open 24 hrs, enjoy.
