If you plan on coming here for a quick lunch(not hibachi) DON’T. I have given this place sooo many chances(at least 7) because I like the sautéed vegetables and fried rice. The salad is from a bag, the soup gets a B+ but the steak & chicken arent always great. The steak is usually tender but There’s an after taste to it sometimes. The chicken is sometimes good sometimes too dry. The service has been TERRIBLE the last 5 times I’ve come here, my guess is that management is bad. 3 out of 5 of the waitresses have bad attitudes or forgetful and inattentive. TODAY, we arrived at 12:15, my husband JUST got his food and it’s 1:42! It wasn’t that packed, so I can’t understand what the problem was. To conclude this review, I’m DONE coming h

Attention there are no iron chefs cooking at this restaurant. smh. service is terrible, and prices are whack for the amt/quality of food you get. I got the seaweed salad and it was terrible, it was tough and gummy. they definitely did not soak the seaweed thoroughly. Got a shrimp teriyaki bowl which was terrible, might as well could have went to the grocery store and bought a simply asia dinner. ugh. i already feel nauseated talking about this place… save your money people. can’t wait for zenna’s to open.

Sushi is good, nice selection. Not sure why the tables are always sticky. Servers are always really young and arent very attentive. Had a stomach the last time not sure if will be going back.

Was a regular there for years until they took a crap on my table… I wasn’t so mad about the crap, but as to how management treated the situation. Kaze is right down the street.

I’ve been coming here for years. I love the lunch special. You can sit at a table away from the grill and get a huge hibachi chicken that 2 people can share for under $ 5. Yes the service is terrible and sometimes this place gets crowded but the food is good so that makes up for it. The sushi ain’t bad either

We often go here for weekday lunches at the hibachi, which offers an insanely good value: $ 6.50 for chicken, with steamed rice and ample veggies, plus soup or salad, with a huge portion of excellent hibachi fried rice available for an extra $ 1.50. Sirloin steak, though not a great quality cut, is a dollar more. Other proteins run higher, on up to $ 20 lobster. The lunch hibachi show, Monday’s-Friday’s, is fairly subdued, though they do a good job usually if a child is at the table. We’ve been here many times, and the food is always great. If you go with the fried rice option, you’ll receive a full plate of rice as a bed for what’s to come. The vegetables are good as well, a decent blend of carrots, onions, broccoli, mushrooms, and thinly sliced potatoes. Cons? Lunch service is slow. Allow 60 – 90 minutes at minimum from the time you are seated until you leave. The hibachi chefs are consistently good, though the hostess/waitress is typically a bit disinterested and slow. The restaurant itself looks old-ish and sadly not always in the cleanest of conditions.(The building was built in the 1980s as a Grady’s and later was a Smokey Bone’s BBQ before all the hibachi setup and separate sushi dining room were retro-fitted inside.) It could stand for a full remodel and a good scrubbing, but it’s got a decent vibe, like a family-run place that focuses more on food than environment, and the value at weekday lunch is terrific.

Just had lunch at Iron Chef. Most of the hibachi grills have the same items and show. The food here was good. However, I wanted to give a special shout out to our chef Jonathan, I was thoroughly impressed with his skills at the grill. He was polite, well mannered, and worked well with the young boy that was at our table. It’s not often that you find that level of customer service anymore. Job well done!

Not impressed. I’ll stick to Kaze down the road. We ordered the sushi bento. Chef’s choice was less than impressive and why waste a section on giving me an orange? Why would you serve a bento box with a fork? Country music in a jappenese restaurant? Where is the Asian experience? Also, we had a less than engaging waitress. The restaurant was empty when we came for dinner and I think I understand why. It’s really a 1 star but I did like the vegetable tempura so I gave an extra star.

The food was very good and cooked perfectly, the service was good, and the show was good. I saw several bad reviews on Unilocal, but our experience was very good. We will definitely return.

The food is good but the service is awful. This is the second time I’ve been here when no one else is here and you would think the server had 10 tables. We had to ask multiple times for things. It was just not good.

My family and I went here for Valentine’s Day and I must say that the sushi is really good. Now for the down side. We were seated and waited almost 10 minutes for someone to come to get our order. She didnt introduce herself and was dressed like she just left the gym. I ordered a unsweet tea with my meal and the tea tasted and smelled like there was bleach in it. Needless to say, I asked for water after that. The waitress needs some people skills. She had the personality of a paper bag at best! Then, she brought our check back and asked us if WE had a pen to sign the receipt. What waitress didn’t have a pen!!! This business is gonna fail if they don’t get some quality waitresses in there. Not a good first impression at all. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years. Your customers make the brand. Without that, it’s a wrap. I give this place another 6 months and they will be done.

Poor service, poor management, and just subpar quality food. When my boyfriend and I walked in we overheard that hibachi would take over an hour before a chef would actually be able to cook any orders made. So my boyfriend and I resorted to just sitting in the sushi area in hopes of being able to be served quicker. I understand that when a place is short staffed that a wait is to be expected but when you wait almost 10 – 15 min for anyone to speak to us about an order then something is wrong. Our waitress didn’t even bring us our water. A completely different waitress brought us water and had to summon our waitress to finally do her job. Our waitress acted like she was the Queen of England and didn’t feel like she had to wait on us. Food took forever to come out and not all of it did. I ordered a bento box which comes with soup and salad(from the quality of the food though I’m glad it didn’t come out). After eating we finally got our ticket after another lengthy wait. We were charged full price for everything though we did not get everything. The waitress that brought us our water spoke with the manager about the price of the meal and was able to get us 10% off of the ticket. Here’s the kicker, the manager/owner spent most if not all of his time at the bar just hanging out. Trust me that looks bad on many levels especially since we were not the only ones who had issues with the restaurant. Also hibachi got serviced, ate, and left before we did. What does that tell you? Definitely won’t be back or recommending to my friends or family. Place is pathetic.

Had lunch there this past Sunday with a few friends. It wasn’t our first time there and we were in the mood for sushi. The waitress could not explain what any of the sauces were and was rather awkward in communicating with us, however she wasn’t rude or anything and got our orders perfect for not writing anything down. Sushi was fresh and tasty and the Heart Attack Roll is delicious. However, be aware that the prices on the menu are NOT the same as the receipts; they’ve apparently raised their prices without updating their menus and that is not cool at all. You should know what you’re paying for a dish up front, not be surprised that its $ 0.75−1.00 higher than what is listed on the menu.

HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE! My family and I had been wanting to try Iron Chefs Hibachi for a very long time and we finally made our way over here because it’s right around the corner from our church. We walked in and no one greeted us. The restaurant wasn’t even busy! There were maybe 3 families seated! I walked up to a stand where one of the employees was(who clearly saw us walk in 10 minutes prior) and I asked her if we were supposed to seat ourselves. She rudely told me that there’s 2 of them and that someone will be over there in a minute! First of all, that’s not my problem that there are only 2 of you. I didn’t even know what she meant by that. It’s Sunday afternoon, you shouldn’t be short staffed. And if that is the case, as soon as customers walk in, you should come over and properly greet us with a, «Hi, welcome to Iron Chef. We’re pretty backed up right now but we will work to get you a table as soon as possible». You don’t ignore customers when they walk in. Moments later she came over and told us that she was going to seat us right after she sat the people who were there before us and when she came back she said, «actually give me 15 minutes». That’s when we were done. This restaurant is not cheap and we were not about to give our hard earned money to people who don’t thrive on good customer service. I don’t care to try Iron Chef’s Hibachi anymore, I’ll keep my business at Benihana.

Met a friend here for her birthday lunch. We sat at the hibachi, ordered and chatted while the chef did his thing — nothing fancy, no tricks, just grilled the food. I think he could tell we were involved in talking and not wanting a big to-do with the food. I ordered the lunch chicken and vegetables with rice and it was really very good and huge portions. The chicken wasn’t overcooked and the vegetables had been nicely grilled and still had a crunch. I was wary after reading some of the reviews here, but enjoyed the visit and the food; not sure I would travel all the way to Mesquite for it, but would go if in the neighborhood.

I was hoping to have a better experience, even went back twice since my last review. ITWASWORSETHANBEFORE! would give it 0 stars if possible The waitresses were busy on their phones and chit chatting at a table, so much so that we stood in the entry way for five min until we walked up to the table for service. then we were seated at a hibachi table. one other couple was there and they said they had been waiting for the chef to cook their order for 30min… there was no reason for that considering the place was empty. the chef was very good and so was the hibachi, but the waitresses were TERRIBLE! they didn’t even attempt to bring out a soup or salad, which comes with hibachi. we had to ask for it after the chef was done cooking. the waitresses appeared to be taking selfies with each other at a table and not paying attention. we went back two nights ago thinking going in at night might change the service issue and this time we just sat in the main area. WEHADTOASKFOR A WAITRESS! even though we had been seated by a hostess. then after we had a waitress, halfway through the meal we had to find a different one because she never came back. They never brought our second round of beers that we asked for. The sushi is just not that good either. the hibachi is, but the rolls just don’t taste right, not like other places. The owner has introduced himself to us before so we know who he is, he was there the last time we were there and was totally oblivious to the bad service. The owner needs to fire the entire wait staff and hire people who aren’t «Best friends» The bill was way too expensive for the taste of the food and the«service» or lack there of. we paid $ 70, should’ve paid $ 25ish to deal with all of that,. ruined our Friday night. We both decided we gave them more than enough chances and we will not go back or recommend iron chef.

I can’t write a review about the food because I never got the chance to eat. We arrived here for Valentines Day without reservations because the person on the phone said that reservations were not necessary. Needless to say we stood in line forever waiting until we realized that they were not keeping a list of who arrived first and random people who came after us were being seated. I will not be back to try the food.

The family and I’ve been here twice now. While we really enjoy the food, the hibachi show is a little lacking. The sushi is really good, and they do have some really great deals here everyday of the week. Here is my two-time review: 1. The first time we went here we did have to wait a little longer than I would have liked to. We were sitting next to two other families who were waiting longer than we were.(glad that wasn’t us!). the second time, we waited about the same amount of time, but we ended up being the only party at the grill, so we didn’t mind waiting for the table to fill up as needed. 2. The chef was a young teen like others have mentioned. That being said, he was sweet, and he actually put on a decent show. our second visit however, left us wanting more from the chef. He was sweet, but it seemed he forgot to start the show with the traditional fire. He ended up doing it about halfway through the show, and this was somewhat disappointing, but he did make some decent food. 3. the service is really good. We had the same waitress on both trips, and she was friendly and accommodating. 4. The food is excellent. I really enjoyed their two for $ 10 sushi rolls. They were a great deal and very, very good. The Gyoza appetizer was crisp and greasy(in a good way). the hibachi on both trips was great! The vegetables, rice, and proteins were all cooked to perfection. All in all, we will return. You get what you pay for, and Iron Chefs is a great deal. If you want a show, as well as about double if not triple the price, go next door to Kaze.

My wife and I were always more than satisfied with the food and the chefs were great. We had tried a lot of different sushi rolls and The Texas Ranger Roll and Dragon Roll are our favs! Hibachi was entertaining every time we choose the grill. Hibachi and Sushi Chefs had talent! Service can vary depending on staff, but it’s never bad service, just some are better than others. I also recommend the eel sushi if you like eel or if you have never tried it. Yummy! I have to amend this review by adding that ownership or management must have changed. The«chefs» are now local kids and the sushi is horrible now. We were used to authentic Japanese chefs and now they have local, just out of high school kids and we will not return.
