I had similar experience. The owner was rude and sarcastic. I waited 5 months for a warranty replacement part only to find it was never ordered and I was never entered in their system. I was not being treated like a valued customer and they had no problem with me going elsewhere, however they lost the damaged part so I was on my own. This is not a shop to do business with.

On June 9th, 2012 I took my 7 yr old Hoover FloorMate in to be repaired at Sun Valley Sew & Vac at 319 S Power Rd, Mesa AZ. The gentleman who owns the business, Richard Coffey, said it would cost approximately $ 79 to repair it. He said the new ones sell for around $ 180 and he showed me the floor model and its features. I said how much would it cost if I traded in my old one, could he give me a better deal? He came up with I will eat the tax, take your trade in, and give it to you for $ 160. So I purchased the Hoover FloorMate model H3040 from him, & bought a Dirt Devil hand-vac too. He rang them up and handed me the receipt from the cash register, which was extremely faint so I asked for a better copy, he wrote it up on an invoice. It simply said: 1 Floormate; 1 D.D. 0944 and the final price. I used it to wash my tile floor that day. I looked for the warranty card. There wasn t one, just an Owners Manual which stated Remanufactured. I was STUNNED as I believed I had bought a NEW one. I called with my concerns about new vs. remanufactured, and he said«it IS new, just that they take left over parts from the factory and put it together and sell it as remanufactured. I told him I was under the impression I had bought a NEW one, and he said sorry, but I thought you knew it was remanufactured. I told him no, I didn t recall hearing that. I told him I noticed there is no warranty on my FloorMate, he said ‘Oh sure there is, one year factory & here of course». Later I noticed the factory pamphlet said six months. I stewed about this for a few days, went out of town for 5 days, got back home and called Customer Service at Hoover listed on the pamphlet. The gentleman there stated remanufactured IS used, the unit had been returned to the store for some reason and sent back to the factory where they replace parts, go over it and clean it up and then sell it for less. He said they sell the same model from there for $ 79.99 with $ 4.95 shipping. I almost fell off of my chair. I was insulted and angry this man at Sew & Vac had DOUBLED the price and led me to believe it was NEW. I felt taken. I decided to take it back and ask for a refund on the 20th of June. This is what transpired — — - Me: I m bringing back this FloorMate and I want my money back. Him: what is wrong with it? Me: nothing, I just want my money back Him: Has it been used? Me: yes, once Him: well, I… why do you want to return it? Me: I m not happy with the deal you made with me selling a remanufactured one when I thought I was buying new. I called Hoover and they said remanufactured is used and they sell them for $ 79 and you charged me twice that amt. That s a 100% mark up. I would like my money back. Him: No! I m not going to do that, I don t like the way you are talking to me.(shoving the receipt at me) Me: What way am I talking to you? Him: you re saying I m a liar, you re calling me a liar! that I sold you a used one instead of a new one, I m not gonna do it!(refund) Me: I did not call you a liar, I said you let me believe it was new and you charged me twice as much as it is worth. I would like my money back please. Him:(pausing)…When did you buy this?(looking at receipt) The 9th! it s been too long, you had 7 days to bring it back. It says so on the receipt.(the receipt says– New items must be returned unused in 10 days) Me: I went on vacation, I couldn t… Him: That s not my problem! Me: so you aren t going to give me my money back? Him: no, no I m not! Me: well, you re not going to like the reviews I write about this. Note to self: Do your research before buying… and never go back there! THISSTOREWASBOUGHT by Mr Coffey 3YEARSAGO& I was no longer doing business with the people who owned it before.
