Disaster of a hire. We were promised job completion in 5 – 6 weeks, but it has been 18 weeks and things are still incomplete. Diego only showed us the cheapest carpet samples. Think astro-turf. He did not listen to what we wanted for cabinetry, so our custom cabinets are not to our design. When we pointed that out, he shrugged his shoulders and said, «They are done now.» However, the woodwork is the reason for the full star. Francisco did beautiful work on the wood floors and craftsmanship of cabinets was high quality. Diego just didn’t listen to us when we told him what we wanted. Workmanship otherwise was mediocre, at best. Basement had to be re-textured due to workers lazily doing quick knock-down rather than the hand texture we discussed. Had to entirely repaint due to bait and switch. Diego said he would use Dunn Edwards, but bought the cheapest Lowe’s paint. Crown moulding was crooked, has sloppy seams, and is still incomplete. Furniture was not covered, so texture and paint got everywhere. We had to move the furniture upstairs ourselves, even though Diego promised his workmen would do it. They took down the blinds in the children’s bedrooms and lost the hardware. Never replaced. My husband finally had buy new ones and rehang them a couple of weeks ago. Granite counters were a mess. Installer, Rey, cracked the back splash upon install and never said anything. We called Diego the next day and he arranged to have Rey come and fix it. When Rey came to fix it, he actually cracked it in three more places(sink corners) and the slab has since cracked at the bar overhang. Diego and Rey said they would replace it, because«they wanted me to be happy»(What a crock! Like it is unreasonable to want unbroken granite for the BRANDNEW remodel! It was all framed as if they were doing ME a favor.) but that was 8 weeks ago and Diego hasn’t made a single effort to follow through. A manager of his sent a text last week(to my shock!) that she wanted to finish and close the account, so we set a time for them to come today to install the new slab and finish the other details, but shock of all shocks, they never showed up. Oh, did I mention that there is paint from the basement on the outside of my house? And that in carelessly moving our brand new fridge, a hole mysteriously appeared on the front door. Of course Diego said his guys did not do it, implying that I took a drill to the front of my own new fridge. Um, yeah. I tried to write a cautionary review in January when Diego was not returning my calls and we had numerous issues already. Oddly enough Diego promptly called Home Advisor to dispute my claims. Hey, I“m not writing this for me. Diego has my money and my basement is not what we discussed. I still have cracked granite, paint on the outside of my home, an unfinished vent return, sloppy paint that needs touch up, vents that were glued to the ceiling are falling(seriously? glued? Is that normal?). There’s just a lot, and Diego is making ZERO effort to communicate and/or remedy this situation. The last time I saw or spoke to him was March 9 and he said he’d call me in a week. It is now April 29. I’m only trying to warn other homeowners of the disaster it was for us to hire 911 Home Design and Construction.
