It was a satisfying yet an okay experience. The waitress was nice, but the food was decent to say the most. Its a good place to sit and hang out with family and friends and it isn’t to bad of a place

Dirty. Poor service. Food looks old and pale. I made a plate and chose not to eat it, because the smell and appearance of the place started to make me feel nauseous. The wok looked promising, but I wasn’t sure how to make a plate as there was no one around to cook or explain the process. The waitress kept setting our silverware on the table, when she cleared other plates. This wouldn’t bother me so much if the tables hadn’t looked so filthy.

It’s not the worst place in the world but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. Surprisingly, the wait staff wasn’t as rude as I was expecting but I still had to wait for several minutes at the door before anyone acknowledged me and the waitress barely looked at us the entire time she helped us. The food was mislabeled and most of it was things like chicken nuggets and tator tots instead of Chinese food. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

The worst of the worst. This place is a combination of bad food, and bad service. Food was overly greasy and looked as if it sat out on the bar all day. The wait staff were rude, and did not come by to refill drinks until we asked for a refill. At the hibachi bar, the cook keeps shaking and pointing at his tip jar expecting a tip. As we were leaving, I left a lousy tip because of the lousy service but the waitress chased us down and demanded that we leave a bigger tip. We will not be returning to this place. Do yourself a favor, take your business elsewhere.

Dirty restaurant, dirty silverware, overpriced and horrible service. Have been here before & had a bad experience decided on giving them another try, let’s just say we will NEVER come back. Let’s hope I or anyone else that ate the disgusting«food» doesn’t end up getting food poisoning from this place. YUCK!!! For being in Shawnee I’d figured the food would be of better quality.

Pretty lousy food. We had hoped with it’s location near the theater this could be an occasional spot for dinner after a movie but it’s not worth coming back. There is quite a spread but we didn’t find one thing we really liked.

Chinese Buffets are one of my favorite things in the entire world. Sometimes I get cravings for egg rolls and crab rangoons, as many as humanly possible! China Garden was in the radius of a good lunch-time stop during work, so we stopped in for some fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. China Garden’s lunch prices are low. But they’re low for a reason… We were here at about 11:45 am and the buffet items were cold. Sweet and sour chicken isn’t so good any more when it’s cold. Good selection of dishes, but the temperature of the food ruined the experience. I was able to grab some fresh and hot egg rolls and potato wedges, so my lunch wasn’t completely ruined.

I definitely come here more often than I should. They sure do cram a whole lot of people into this place — it can be super busy. Be prepared to possibly sit at a long table next to strangers. The crowds of people waiting around the place on the buffet where they put the crab legs is hilarious to me. They just stand there and wait with their plates and I’m like, excuse me, I need to get to the mozzarella sticks please. Yes, mozzarella sticks. I just get one each time, but it’s fun! The food is nothing to write home about but it’s good and it satisfies my need to eat all of the deep fried food items.

Dirty restaurant. Sticky silverware. Under cooked fried offerings. Dry over cooked chicken. Just gross.

I’ve been here quite a few times, but I won’t be going back anymore. I was finishing off my drink near the end of my meal, that’s when I noticed in the cup at the bottom under the ice was a paper fortune from a fortune cookie that didn’t get cleaned out from the previous use. I quickly got the attention of the table attendant, I showed her and she was very apologetic. I stopped by the desk by the door on my way out and let a woman who looked like a manager know what I had found; she simply laughed at me! Disgusting and completely unprofessional.

By far my favorite Chinese place. The food is good and the price is not too shabby. Don’t expect to get great customer service. I’ve been there several times and I can’t recall a single time we were treated extraordinarily great. However. It’s a buffet and we go for the food. The cleanliness of the place is questionable. I sometimes wonder if the beef in the Beef and Broccoli is actually beef or not… But again, I try not to think about that. Their sushi is generic, nothing special. But add a little spicy mayo and some eel sauce and you’ll be good to go. Their hibachi grill is wanting, but we tend to ignore that anyway. They have a great fruit bar. As far as desserts go, just get ice cream… YOUCANNEVERGOWRONGWITHICECREAM… Avoid the jello at ALLCOSTS.

Foods not bad but my waitress forced me to give her a tip(not saying that I wasn’t going to) but service was shitty and food was decent.

We went on a Sunday not realizing that they charged extra because they supposedly had better food on those days. I’m pretty sure they had crab legs but the only time I saw them was when they were on other people’s plates. If the business is allowing a single person to take two platefuls at one time, something is wrong. In addition to the double price, they also forgot to turn on one of their warming tables so everything from that buffet table was cold. Cold crab rangoon. Cold spring rolls. Cold tater tots. Cold shrimp. Cold Chicken nuggets. Nasty Nasty Nasty Nasty Nasty. And we were there at least 30 minutes after they opened. How do the people that bring the food out not notice that the table isn’t on? We informed the manager and they corrected it but didn’t offer any apology. Just an explanation. We’ve been there in the past and have thought it was okay(probably 3 stars). The cold food, absent upcharged food, and double price will have us thinking about ever going here again. And that’s too bad because chinese buffets are few and far between anymore.

This buffet sucked bad. Food was cold & dry. There were 3 items we were able to eat & they were just fair. I filled up on shrimp & mushrooms & my son ate a few sushi. 90% of the dishes were indistinguishable or just weird… Like cheese baked on a lot of the seafood dishes. Gross. Staff was unfriendly & they were doing electrical(?) work in the ceiling in the middle of the dining room. Won’t be back.

I’ve been coming to this buffet for several years now. its always been clean, friendly an great food. I went other tonite, the first time in several months. I was quite surprised to see the condition of the place. it was dirty, booths were worn out and falling apart, bathrooms were very dirty, staff was unfriendly and seemed to be more concerned with texting and talking on their cell phones. the food? the worst I have ever experienced. I don’t know of the place changed owners recently or what is going on… but I’ll never eat there again.

I’m gonna start off by saying that I always go to the Chili’s 2 doors down whenever my husband and kids get their Chinese craving. There is a decent selection of food items, which is nice, but the taste is just ok. They have a «sushi bar» and a hibachi grill. They get very busy on Sunday afternoons so if you’re wanting a leisurely meal, this isn’t the place to go. I don’t like going here for several reasons: there is little/no customer service(nothing like you’d undoubtedly find elsewhere) and if you go in a group they always put everyone on the same check which then leaves you spending 15 minutes sorting everyone’s bill. To put it simply, I’d rather go where I feel more like a customer rather than a number.

I have lunch here about 6 or 7 times a year, I work near Shawnee Mssn Med Ctr so it’s not far. Here’s the deal. Relatively tasty food and a big selection. The chicken wings alone salad or fruit would make a filling, artery clogging lunch, but I sample the entire buffet. IT’S NOTGOODCHINESEFOOD but it’s hot and has a lot of vegetables so at least with all those calories, your get your nutrients and fiber! If you put it together right at the Mongolian Grill(raw food you select yourself that is stir-fried on the flat top while you wait) you get fresh food, cooked piping hot to order. It starts out cold and raw and 3 minutes later it’s ready for you and has never be picked over, stirred or breathed on by another customer. That’s really not bad. I’ve been to every buffet like this in north central Johnson County. This is the second best(Joy Wok) at 119th in Leawood is the best. The little store front «restaurants» with counter service and the picture menus above the counter are usually barely passable(but they keep you from stuffing yourself). If you want Chinese food that you can honestly call«good» you gotta go to a real restaurant with table service like Bo Lings or Dragon Inn. China Garden is «food» not really Chinese food. But it can be pretty good for lunch and the money.

Consistently high quality ingredients and always a few things that are unusual for a buffet. Recently they have salt and pepper frog legs again. They almost always have both steamed and fried dumplings. Service is fine if a little slow to get your initial drink.

Pricy, but it’s a buffet. In fact they have a buffet-to-go option too, however that works. Sometime I see really fat people loading up styrofoam containers as full as they can get them. It’s gross, but kinda funny too. Anyways, the food is great for this type of a place. The rice is never dry, but the crab legs are meh.(Go figure. I always avoid«mass-serve» crab legs. I don’t stand there hovering over the empty pot like some people do and then pounce on the latest crab dropped into the same nasty old water.) Overall, there is a wide selection of food, sushi, salad bar, and desserts. When I’m in the mood to pig out on Chinese food, this is where I go!

As far as eating at a buffet is concerned its not nearly as bad as some of the others I’ve reviewed. But it does suffer from the new trend of mass-omniasian cuisine. If you can’t do it all well, don’t do it all. The food was crafted well but on the fringes away from conventional Chinese cooking is where it fell apart. The sushi was small and ill prepared. There is also this other trend of keeping American food like chicken nuggets etc. on the buffet. The Chinese food was done well, ably prepared not the best. But it was certainly not a ripoff. I say consolidate the fringes and you’ve got an okay place to dine.
