Empire Pizza

I wish it was possible to give half a star as this business does not even deserve a full one. First we waited quite a while for the food to come and we even had to call to confirm that they did not forget about us. Then when the pizza and wings finally arrive they were cold. We called the restaurant to speak with someone about how unsatisfied we were about our order and the girl that answered the food basically called me a liar about our food being cold and told me that if I wanted anything done about it I needed to drive all the way there. I’ve had this happen with one other location and they were very sincere and apologized and even brought me a new pizza with no questions asked… Anyways, I drove all the way there and one of the employees was disputing the fact that our pizza was cold then another employee comes out and starts making a scene with my boyfriend and I. There were absolutely no apologies and they never bothered to ask if they fix the situation for us. Needless to say we will NEVER be ordering from here again.

Pretty good Pizza and the very best Buffalo wings I’ve had from any pizza place in town. They are absolutely fantastic– juicey quality meat with a nice crisp on the outside without burning or drying out.

I asked for a slice of pizza with toppings. Broccoli, onions, mushrooms. This is what I got a burned regular chesse pizza with a bunch of veggies slammed on top. Never going back there again to eat pizza. Waste or money.

Always dependable. Empire is our go to delivery when we don’t want to risk a hit or miss pizza place. Pizza is average, salads are excellent, especially chicken Caesar. Huge with lots of chicken, cooked perfectly. Always polite service and on time.

They are by far the best around. Delivery is quick. Food is still hot and intact when it arrives. Prices are very reasonable. Oh and yes the food is delicious. I’m a big fan of their burgers and pizza. Definitely best pizza in Meriden.

This place is a hit or miss. My husband and I have been ordering from this specific empire pizza for about 1 ½ years. Our order is pretty much the same each time, give or take a pizza. Our usual order is a large Greek salad, large garden salad & 12 wings with sauce on side. We’ve sometimes ordered 3 days in a row because the food used to be outstanding. Fresh romaine lettuce, super green and crunchy, fresh cucumber and plenty slices, crunchy juicy sliced tomatoes and thin slices of fresh purple onions. I wanna say for about the last 6 months every order has been wrong in some sort of way. The salads were no longer fresh, sometimes no sauce for our wings, sometimes hardly any salad at all, sometimes the salads would be missing a vegetable and this last time instead of sauce on the side, they drenched our wings in the hot sauce. The thing that really upset me today and caused me to write this review, is that every order we have made has been through the online website where we can type the special instructions to have our food delivered. I’m not really sure how you can mess up an order when the instructions are written for you. Not only that but this time our delivery guy came to our door and told my husband to his face that next time «you will come down and pick it up from me»! Are you serious? My husband told him no you’ll come back and deliver it and shut the door. He called empire to talk to management and the girl who answered told him that he wasn’t in yet. My husband got the name of the driver who we found out was Ziya. We tipped this guy $ 4.00 we have no idea what his problem was. We’ve spent a ton of money at this place. $ 28 for two salads and 12 wings each time and more had we ordered a pizza. We’ve had empire deliver here for the last year & a half. I have restaurants that we have gone to just a hand full of times that can remember our order & our faces. This is a serious outrage. We are the nicest people and at this time we are finished with this place.

I should have ordered the pizza.
My neighbors always order from here, i see the car at least three times a week. So I ordered, but I didn’t order pizza, that my have been my first mistake.
If you come from a city and order here you will notice the gyro meat from Empire is either microwaved or thrown on the grill for a moment, it is not sliced from a spit. Their feta is not the feta that makes your mouth pucker. The pita is bland. What ever sauce they serve is not a yogurt sauce you would anticipate, its base is some sort of sour cream with chives.

I have never been disappointed ! The burgers are delicious, fries so tasty! Hawaiian pizza is my favorite, along with the clams casino! I really love the pizza sauce, perfect crust and fast delivery! My go to takeout place

One of the many pizza delivery places around here. I wasn’t jazzed about pizza one day so I ordered a burger and fries. It was ok. My boyfriend was always raving about the salads he gets here and that is what he ordered on this occasion. It was the ceasar salad with chicken, and oil and vinegar for a dressing. It did look really good, so that has been what I order from them now. The salad is a nice bed of greens with croutons and Parmesan cheese with a very generous helping of delicious grilled chicken. This chicken is really good and I crave these salads now. While I have been ordering salads my boyfriend has been ordering gyros. They looked and smelled good, so I had some of that too. It’s also great! The meat is flavorful, the veggies on it are good, and the feta is so creamy and awesome. I honestly cannot speak for their pizzas, but the salads and gyros are worth it.

I think Empire has improved recently. Their quality of their pizza still seems kind of erratic, running from bland or greasy one week to absolutely delicious the next. The only pattern I’ve noticed is that the larger the pizza the better it tends to be. I’ve had the best luck with their party sized pizzas — which are damn cheap if you use a coupon. I still think their grinders are a bit weak but fine for a quick lunch, and their calzones are pretty average, though big. However, their salads are the best I’ve had delivered — the chicken ceasar and Greek salads both are exceptional — and their Gyros are also top notch.

Okay, this isn’t a New Haven pizza restaurant. It isn’t supposed to be. It’s a tiny little take out place in the end of a tiny plaza in Meriden. But if you give them a chance you will find a few hidden gems. The chicken caesar salad is out if this world amazing and hands down one of the best caesar salads we have come across anywhere! (Get the chicken on the side if you want super crisp lettuce, otherwise the chicken wilts it a bit.) My husband is pretty much obsessed and most other caesar salads are ruined to him. Needless to say then, the chicken caesar wrap is also excellent. The chicken souvlaki (a greek chicken pita) is fantastic. Both of those dishes are 5 star, no question. The pizza has been a range of just ok to really pretty good. I’ve had many of the grinders and they are decent. Calzones are huge and good and stromboli is even better. (Ask for extra sauce!) In my opinion, people are too harsh on this place. Try the caesar salad or the chicken souvlaki… you won’t regret it.

I am the type of person who will usually try to give a place another chance to prove themselves, unless the first experience is a complete disaster and there is no turning back. With Empire Pizza, this was the third and last time for them. The first issue I had was they got our order completely wrong and added things to our food that we requested be removed due to a food allergy. The second issue was that on my way home one night from work, I tried to call in an order on my cell phone and in the middle of ordering, my phone cut out. I called back to apologize and finish and the lady told me she doesn’t have time for me and hung up. When I reached my house and tried to call again, the phone rang and rang and they would not answer my call. The third and final time, they forgot a grinder we ordered and when I called about it, the man seemed as though I was lying and we went back and forth. We finally received the grinder a half an hour later, when the delivery driver pulled up in our driveway like a bat out of hell and his music blasting. He practically threw the grinder at me. Enough is enough and we will not be ordering from them again. The food is ok, but we could get much better elsewhere with no hassle. Sayonara Empire!

We ordered from here once. Once. It was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. We have never felt the need to try them again. If you want good delivery pizza, just order from Bella Luna.

When we order from here its purely for the variety. I’ve tried a few dishes here but never had the pizza as it was not recommended to me. This is a great place to order delivery if its one of those nights that everyone wants something different.
They do excellent gyros here. Not much to say other than I love it, when not in the mood for a gyro, calzones are a great pick. They are MASSIVE in size and easily feed two maybe three people.
I had the lasagna for the first time and I was a bit disappointed as there was very little meat inside, I should’ve gone with the baked ziti with meatballs. Its super super cheesy but I’ll stick to ordering my lasagna from Amore’s in Wallingford because theres is simply amazing.
When you order chili cheese fries it comes in a full size dinner tin and is just as chili cheese fries should be, completely covered with layers of cheese and extra meat and cheese to scrape off the bottom afterwards!

I order from here all the time. I work at a hotel in the area and the service and food is awesome!

The food at this pizza place is absolutely GROSS! The dough is okay but the sauce, cheese, and toppings are about as low quality as you can get. Not to mention they do not cook the pizza very well. For some reason the pizzas taste like they sprinkle salt on them… perhaps to cover up the low-​end toppings and cheap ingredients? Who knows.

The drivers for Empire Pizza are lunatics. This one driver cut me off and decided to block me in the road in front of my car because he thought I was flashing my lights at him… little did he realize my SUV is higher than his car and the road was bumpy. Because of this I would never get pizza from this place again. Had it once or twice and it’s a greasy mess and there are plenty of other good pizza places in Meriden that are worth patronizing. Some of them do not deliver but they are worth the drive to get your pizza. It is hard for me to give this place one star.

You can find much better pizza places that deliver in Meriden. The pizza is not awful, but it’s not great either.

A California Dream pizza kept me good company at my office while working later than anyone could desire. While not in the same class as New Haven’s pizza, Empire still delivered a decent pie. After further studying of the menu, the Empire Special grinder caught the eyes of several coworkers and myself, and we proceeded to order a round of them for lunch several days later; the pastrami, turkey, bacon and provolone sandwich tasted good but could have used at least twice the amount of meat and a handful less lettuce. No regrets really; that’s just how the story went.

Decent size portions, can usually save half– or more– of the dinners, good the next day if you’re ok with microwaved leftovers (it is what it is!). We (my sister and I) have had it all: chicken parmesan, lasagna, the stromboli, pizza, there is too much that I would recommend from this place! I frequently get their sm. Greek salad (comes with a nice big piece of garlic bread) and love every bite. If you don’t feel like cooking and want to have delicious food delivered to your door, look no further.
