This is probably the best Italian restaurant I have been to in a long while. Definitely recommend the Gnocchi Carbonara… So rich and filling. Also come on Wednesday when they have half off bottles of wine. Service was outstanding! Nice job guy! A really winner.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to try the food here yet — My review is based solely on the customer service mishaps while trying to eat here. We had a large party of 8 and had called earlier in the afternoon, thinking they may take reservations for a large party, especially«off season» in November. The hostess informed me over the phone that, while they couldn’t make a reservation, they would«definitely» be able to accommodate, if we called 45 minutes ahead and got on their waiting list. 45 minutes prior to our arrival, we called, as instructed and at that point, the hostess(clearly not the same person who answered the phone earlier) seemed shocked and surprised at the thought of seating 8 people, giving the excuse that they had 2 large functions and saying that there was«no way» they would be able to accommodate our party at all that night. I realize Lago has a reputation for being quite popular and busy, but this was an instance of poor communication on their part, not simply being busy. Don’t use the word«definitely» if it’s not definite.

Our waitress, Linsey was amazing! The burrata and short ribs out of this world and how can you turn down a complimentary house made limoncello shot? All around wonderful!

Painfully mediocre was how my fellow patrons described their meal, and I agree. I had the fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. The chicken was grilled and good, but the fettuccini tasted like it was frozen and the Alfredo sauce was meh… Appetizers were good and the harpoon IPA on tap was good, but other than that it was mediocre.

I love the common man restaurants but this one is a mess. My husband and I came in for a special occasion and were seated near the kitchen although there were many available tables. When we voiced our dismay the waitress became defensive and combative with my husband and blamed the manager. This got the evening off to a bad start. We were moved to another table but service was spotty. It seemed there was no one managing the floor. Took forever for drinks to come and we were not asked if we wanted another cocktail before dinner. Maybe they don’t want to make money? Isn’t revenue based on alcohol sales? Our entrees arrived and were good but were swimming in oil. Dessert was good, we had a chocolate ganache. We are from NY and I have been to fabulous restaurants here. Lago needs to get it’s act together and get a manager who knows how to run the kind of restaurant they aspire to be. The waitstaff could use a lesson in customer service as well.

I was surprised to see some low reviews for Lago. The food has been good the times I have been there, but the service is wonderful. Cheese and crackers while you wait, delicious bread and oil, and we had chocolate covered espresso beans and limoncello shots to end dinner. The view is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. Only downside is the wait. Definitely call ahead if you can because the wait for a table can be long.

Went last night. Took the boat. Got there put our name in(4 people and we wanted outdoor seating). We were passed for seating and other had been seated before us that came after us. As soon as I made it apparent the manager and staff made sure we had no worries the rest of the evening. The food was fabulous. The calm app was so yummy. Our waitress suggested amazing meals(feel terrible I can’t remember her name). She truly made our experience and the y dishes. The atmosphere, Food, staff and cocktails were amazing. My only complaint is no pagers for outdoor seating only for indoor seating. It is summer in New Hampshire!!! I’m sure seating order can be tough; who wouldn’t want to be outside at this beautiful establishment. Make sure you are really pay attention. The hostess is super sweet and nice and very soft spoken.

Delicious food, great service, cozy atmosphere!!! Complimentary crackers and cheese while you wait and warm delicious Rosemary bread once you are seated. To finish they give you a nice little lemoncielo shot and chocolate covered espresso beans. Every time we are in the area we try to stop at Lago, the wait can be tough which is my only complaint.

Great service, fantastic menu and specials and consistently flawless food and drinks. A full Italian menu offering and their pizza is notable. Dinner only, parking is usually quite an issue and be prepared to wait(though they do have call ahead seating).

Have been looking forward to earn fat Lago for a long while. Called on Friday for outdoor seating. Told 90 min wait. That’s understandable — Friday on the summer on the water. 1 hour 45 min later, while 4 tables sit empty, we were still not seated. Pluses: Blake, our server tried her hardest to solve all the other errors. She was a good sport and worked hard. Bruschetta, Caesar, pizza, swordfish were great. Plain pasta was a small serving. Minuses– Orzo with swordfish was mushy and overlcooked. Carbonara with shrimp(3medium for &9) — carbonara good, shrimp pasty and terrible. BIG minus– hostess was disorganized, and did not support waitstaff. On out way out she asked us if we needed a table. We didn’t get silverware until we asked after salads were served. No busing. Most food was ok, but the support service and organization of serving was so awful I don’t know that I would return.

Food was excellent the service was extremely poor. We were not ready to order drinks so she gave us a minute which turned into 20, then we ordered drinks and food at the same time, took another 20 for drinks in which the salad ended up coming before the drinks and then she forgot bread, when clearing the table she took one to pack up then came back 10 minutes later to pack up the other. Great food just terrible experience.

Usually love the food… recently was unimpressed with the flat bread special. Bartender was nice enough but no super friendly(I like super friendly — I work in the service industry). Arugula salad I remembered being a little better and my drink was supposed to taste like elderflower but tasted like pineapple juice.

Great place! I always get take out from here and eat the food at home. The food is delicious, great portions, take out containers are re-usable and i use them for tupperware. I also like that they give you bread, oil, and olives even when you get take out. Highly recommended !

The food was good. The servers were friendly. The acoustics inside the restaurant weren’t great it was hard to hear over everyone else’s conversations. The prices were slightly high. The menu needs to be completely redone. The selections were fine but most of the menu was in Italian and the language was far from correct. It was slightly worse then Google translate. A lot of the spellings were incorrect, the names were not right and often didn’t make sense.

I am writing this review solely for the purpose of reviewing the antipasto platter. For $ 13 we were amazed at how much variety and food was on it. There for two kinds of cheeses marinated Cippolini onions stuffed dates olives grapes and more that I can’t recall. The ambience was nice and the drinks were actually very good as well.

We love it here. Definitely one of the better places for Italian /American dinner around this area. We’ve come back a few times. You can call ahead but no reservations. Sometimes you can get a seat or high top near the bar. That’s first come first serve. We ordered the chicken Marsala and chicken broccoli ziti and it was soooo delicious. Very tasteful and great portion. We have also had the chicken parm which is also great and the flatbread pizza. Everything is good. Reasonable prices also and great spot for a date or even larger group.

Lago is amazing. I have visited Lago many times throughout the years and nearly every time, it’s phenomenal. The overall atmosphere is cozy and inviting. With tables that look out onto the lake, as well as cozy booths, there’s truly something for everyone to be comfortable. The bar area is nice. While it can get a bit loud and busy, the bartenders are wonderful and the bar itself has ample seating. The menu is great and has a lot of different choices. Definitely try their Antipasto platter and Burrata. They are amazing appetizers and will not disappoint. Their salads are great and always taste crisp and fresh. One of the nice things about Lago, is that they have some pasta items that you can get as an «appetizer» portion or as a «dinner» portion. This is great for those folks who like a lighter meal. Their other entrees are amazing(do yourself a favor and try the braised short ribs). The flatbread pizza specials that they have are delightful as well. Everything tastes wonderful and savory. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

Great restaurant. We rented a house on the lake for a week in the summer and came here for one of the nights for dinner. Everyone had a great meal. And great drinks. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a nice atmosphere, great food, god drinks, and right on the water.

This restaurant has A LOT to do with when you come, and at what time. The other reviews I feel are quite accurate because on my previous visit I shared a similar experience. Horrible service, and my family are regulars. [ we came on a Saturday, or Friday?] However this time we went on a Tuesday evening around 6:30, the place was dead. Service was great, very attentive, and friendly. Kitchen whipped up some good daily specials, and held down the regulars on the menu. Basically as a patron, or a soon to be patron, you need to be realistic with yourself. If you come here on a Wednesday(Wine Wednesday where all wine is marked down 50%), obviously servers are going to hustling and you won’t receive their 100% undivided attention. The joint is going to be flooded with people guzzling down bottle after bottle. However, if you’d like to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake, the cabin-esque atmosphere, and some tasty grub with very attentive service you probably should cruise it on a less busy evening.
