When I used to dream about small town diners as a young child growing up in Manhattan(yes, I did this), this diner is the type of establishment I had in mind. Small town charm located about a mile from 94, we stopped here on our ride home from Minnesota. Traditional breakfast items abound, and were delicious. I adored my French toast. But the first thing you notice when you walk in are the pies. We were so anxious to try a slice, that we all ordered some after our breakfast. Healthy? No. But wonderful.

Thanks Unilocal.Stopped in on a road trip to Chicago after reading review. Great diner with large menu. Cute atmosphere.

Decent country and traditional family breakfast. They accommodated my wife’s gluten sensitivity. I had the vegetable omelot, it was fine but a little dry. I’d go back as I’m not sure there is much better in this small college town.

Came here on a Sunday for breakfast. The food was great and the menu has a good variety of food options for You to choose from. Pleasant environment and a very friendly staff. Wait time for food came out pretty quickly as well so that was a plus. Waiter was great on refilling our cups with water as well. I had good experience and would definitely come here again!

Friendly staff, pleasant environment. Right near the highway. Food took a long time to arrive. Salad was disappointing. In early September should be made with fresh tomatoes, etc. The rest of the food was ok. Good wild rice served.

Very cozy restaurant with very friendly staff. They have a really wide variety of breakfast dishes to choose from. I had the corned beef hash and it was good, even though I would have liked it better if it was a bit more cooked and crispy. Besides that, great genuine breakfast and good service. We’ll visit again soon.

Great prices and friendly staff. Expect a wait on the weekends, as it is a popular local destination. Sunday mornings are my favorites: an interesting amalgam of elderly people and hungover college kids. Waitresses are great and work with dietary restrictions. Very accommodating. A great place for quick takeout or a long brunch catching up with old friends. Definitely the best breakfast place in Menomonie!

Went there for breakfast with my mother and I have nothing at all to complain about. The service was excellent. The food was fantastic and the portions were wonderfully huge for the price. They had a selection of pies that made me want to try a couple but I was stuffed from the scrambler I had, that also came with eggs, hash-browns, and huge fluffy pancakes. I will definitely eat there again when in the area and recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal.

I am in love with this place for a great breakfast. If I have learned one thing in the world is if there are older people there drinking coffee for hours it is a great place to be. The skillets are some of the best in town, the waitstaff is is wonderful and it does make you feel like it is a locals only kind of place.

OMG… we just had breakfast there this morning and their julian eggs benedict was so good! I wish we lived closer to this restaurant, I would eat there once a week! I swapped out the hashbrowns for a bowl of fruit, and it was so fresh and a perfect compliment to the egg dish. VERY easy on the wallet too… can’t say enough good about this place.

A nice find but not a place I would travel a long ways to reach. That said if I was in the area I’d definitely return. Plenty to choose from, good coffee, good service. Country cooking with breakfast-lunch-dinner to choose from. Fries could be improved… maybe with crinkle cuts

A bit hard to find, but seek it out for breakfast. It’s just off the Interstate for those heading into or coming out of the Twin Cities. I’d much rather support a family-type place like this than a Denny’s. The ingredients are fresh and prepared with care. The service is friendly. I had a veggie omelet that was well executed. I also liked that the toast had more character than that made from packaged bread. My son said his pecan waffle was delicious, and my mom noted that the breakfast sausage was several notches in quality above what she usually is served at other places.

This place is awesome! Breakfast was fantastic-make sure to try the sausage and eggs. Our waitress, Nancy, kept our coffees full and was delightful to talk to. Watch out for the portions though-it’s so much food that my friend Mark looks like he might explode. Too much gravy and syrup…

If you like breakfast/brunch, this is an excellent place. Large brunch menu and great food. I have had fantastic omelets, eggs benedict… etc. The only place I like to go eat brunch in Menomonie.

Pretty standard family restaurant, there was not a huge wow factor here. It worked perfect with the three kids and prices were fair.

I always love a bottomless cup of coffee. prices are cheap but the food wasn’t that great. I might have just caught the cook on a bad day but the hash browns were a solid little brick

Driving thru town we found the MFR on Unilocal. We had a family of 9 and were seated after a short wait on a Sunday morning. The food was excellent and the service was stellar. The prices were beyond reasonable. Try the Greek omelette. Unique breakfast fare.

I have to admit, I’m a breakfast junkie, I’ve lived in Menomonie for four months now, and I JUST discovered the Menomonie Family Restaurant. Housed in an old train depot at the end of a culdesac near Goodwill and Wal-Mart, this restaurant is going to be a staple of many breakfasts to come. This place seems to be *quite* popular with the older generation and families, and not so much w/the UW-Stout students, which I’m very surprised about. Perhaps it is due to the distance from campus, but they are definitely missing out. The breakfasts are good, and there are a TON of choices, ranging from your typical fare to a bit more unique(ie: vegetarian eggs benedict w/artichokes or vegetarian asparagus omelette). One thing that they seem to really like to do here is smother things w/sauce — either hollandaise or sausage gravy — so don’t say you weren’t warned. They serve lunch and dinner as well, and I’m looking forward to trying those meals at one of my new favorite Menomonie-area restaurants.
